Late April through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping in Bourbon, with the absolute peak being late spring (April-May) and early fall (September-October) when daytime highs sit comfortably in the 70s, humidity drops, and the Ozark forests either bloom or blaze in color. Summer (June-August) gets hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s and frequent afternoon thunderstorms perfect for floating the cool Meramec River. Winters dip into the 20s and 30s with occasional ice storms, so most campgrounds and Fisher Cave tours run seasonally. Pro tip: book the second weekend in October for peak fall foliage along Highway 8.
weather.gov/lsx/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll be just fine first time renting an RV in Bourbon is genuinely easier than people expect. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery), walking you through driving, leveling, hookups, the propane system, and dumping tanks. The roads around Bourbon are forgiving for new RVers: Interstate 44 is wide and flat, and Highway 8 toward Steelville has gentle curves with light traffic. If you're nervous, choose a Class C motorhome or small travel trailer for your first trip, and ask the host about delivery so you skip driving altogether. For private parks like Blue Springs Ranch and Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort, 2-3 months ahead is safe for summer weekends, and 2-4 weeks works for weekdays. icampmo1.usedirect.com/MSPWeb/What are the roads and driving conditions like around Bourbon?
Driving around Bourbon is refreshingly easy. Interstate 44 runs right through town with wide lanes and gentle grades, making it a beginner-friendly RV highway. The local routes Highway 8, Highway 19, and Highway N wind through hilly Ozark terrain with some curves, narrow shoulders, and the occasional deer (dawn and dusk are highest risk, so slow down). Spring brings flash flooding in low water crossings near the Meramec, and winter ice storms can make rural roads dicey from December through February. Pro tip: avoid driving the back roads to Berryman Trail after heavy rain use Highway 8 to Steelville and turn south on Route 49 instead.

rvia.org/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure through RVezy, you pay the full booking amount (rental, taxes, protection plan, and any selected add-ons) through the platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment a few days before the trip starts and released after return, assuming no damage or extra mileage fees. To avoid surprises, photograph the RV inside and out at pickup, stay within your mileage allowance, return the tanks per the host's instructions, and refuel before drop-off. Easy in, easy out, and your trip in Crawford County's Ozark country is locked in.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow should I handle Missouri's hot, humid summers in the RV?
Summer in Bourbon is hot and sticky highs in the upper 80s with humidity that makes it feel like the mid-90s but your RV is built for it. Run the air conditioner on shore power at full-hookup sites like Blue Springs Ranch or Meramec State Park's electric loops, and remember most rooftop AC units need 30-amp service to run efficiently. Drive in the cooler morning hours, park in shade when possible, and keep the fridge stocked (it works harder in heat). The cool, 58°F interior of Meramec Caverns or Onondaga Cave is a perfect midday escape. Pro tip: float the Meramec River from 10 AM to 2 PM the spring-fed water stays refreshingly cold all summer.
