2022 Jayco Travel Trailer
Renting from Donna was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Her communication was prompt, clear, and welcoming, making pickup and drop-off completely hassle-free. The camper was exceptionally clean, well maintained, and stocked with everything we needed, and the beds were remarkably comfortable for a great night’s sleep after a long day outside. Donna is a top-tier host, and I would absolutely rent from her again in a heartbeat!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Farmington, MO
How much does an RV rental in Farmington, MO typically cost?
An RV rental in Farmington is one of the most affordable ways to explore Missouri's Parkland region. On RVezy, travel trailers in the Farmington area typically run $80 to $175 per night, campervans and Class B motorhomes range from $150 to $250, and larger Class C motorhomes fall between $175 to $325 per night. You'll often find the cheapest RV rental Farmington has to offer in early spring (March and April) or late fall, when demand cools and hosts often discount nightly rates. Pro tip: book a 5+ night stay and many local hosts offer 10 to 15 percent off the total. Use the price filter on RVezy to set your budget upfront and browse only what fits.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Farmington%2C%20MissouriWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Farmington, Missouri?
Good news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Farmington, Missouri. The state does not require a special RV license or commercial driver's license (CDL) for any motorhome or trailer you'll find on RVezy, including Class A, Class C, and fifth wheels. You do need to be 25 or older to book as an approved driver, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the US? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association before flying in, usually for under $20. That's it. You're ready to roll into Missouri's Ozark foothills.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Farmington protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Farmington booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right in. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, giving you real financial peace of mind without the headache of a separate insurance shop. During checkout you'll choose from several protection tiers (this is your choice as the guest, not the host's), so you can match the coverage to how adventurous your Missouri RV trip will be. Whether you're exploring the gravel roads near Silver Mines or parking at St. Joe State Park, you're covered. Click through the protection options at booking to see what's included at each level.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Farmington RV rental?
Plans change, and RVezy makes it low-risk to book. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy across every listing, including a grace-period window after booking when you can cancel for a full refund. After that, refunds depend on how far out you are from your trip start date. Because the policy is handled at the platform level, you won't see cancellation terms printed on each listing, keeping things consistent across every RV rental in Farmington. If a host ever has to cancel on you, RVezy will help refund you or provide travel credits. Before you book your Farmington RV trip, review the cancellation section during checkout so you know exactly where you stand.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Farmington, MO?
Absolutely. Farmington is fantastic dog country and plenty of hosts welcome four-legged co-pilots. To find a pet-friendly RV rental Farmington travelers love, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see only listings that allow pets. Many hosts charge a small pet fee (typically $25 to $75 per trip) to cover extra cleaning. Once you're here, your pup can romp the leashed trails at St. Joe State Park, splash in the St. Francis River at Silver Mines Recreation Area, or stroll Engler Park right in town. Pro tip: message the host through RVezy before booking to confirm your specific breed and size, especially if you're bringing more than one dog.
mostateparks.com/park/st-joe-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Farmington?
Yes, RV delivery in Farmington is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers. Many local hosts will drive the RV directly to your campsite at St. Joe State Park, Hawn State Park, or a nearby private RV park, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees usually run between $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location, with some offering flat rates within a 25-mile radius of Farmington. Filter listings by Delivery on RVezy to see what's available. It's the easiest way to skip the towing learning curve and start your trip relaxed.
mostateparks.com/park/hawn-state-parkHow far can I drive on an RV rental from Farmington?
Plenty far, and Farmington's central location in eastern Missouri makes it a great launchpad. Each RVezy host sets their own mileage policy, with many Farmington listings including 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer road trips. From Farmington you can reach St. Louis in about 70 miles (just over an hour), Sainte Genevieve's historic district in about 30 miles, Branson in roughly 240 miles, Memphis in 230 miles, and the heart of Mark Twain National Forest in under 90 miles. Before booking, scan the listing's mileage section so you know your daily allowance. Pro tip: if you're planning a big loop, message hosts who offer unlimited miles or buy extra miles upfront at a discount.
fs.usda.gov/mtnfWhere are the best campgrounds near Farmington, MO?
You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Farmington include St. Joe State Park (just 10 minutes from town, with electric hookups, four lakes, and 2,000 acres of off-road trails), Hawn State Park (pine forests and shut-in creeks, about 25 minutes east), Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park (about 45 minutes southwest with full-hookup sites and the famous natural water park), Silver Mines Recreation Area in Mark Twain National Forest (great for paddlers, around 30 minutes south), and private RV parks in the area with full hookups. All take RVs of various sizes. Reserve state park sites through Missouri State Parks' online system as early as possible.
mostateparks.com/park/johnsons-shut-ins-state-parkWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Farmington?
Farmington is a three-season RV destination with a sweet spot from mid-April through late October. Spring (April to May) brings 60 to 75°F days, dogwoods, and fewer crowds. Summer (June to August) heats up to 85 to 92°F and humid, perfect for floating the St. Francis River, but bring extra AC capacity. Fall (mid-September through October) is the local favorite, with crisp 55 to 75°F days and the Ozarks foothills blazing orange and red. Winter dips to 25 to 45°F with occasional snow, but campgrounds like St. Joe State Park stay open year-round and you'll have the trails to yourself. For peak comfort plus fall color, target the first three weeks of October.
weather.gov/lsx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
Yes, and Farmington is one of the friendliest places in Missouri to start. Every RVezy host walks you through a full orientation at pickup, covering how to operate the slide-outs, water system, propane, generator, leveling, and dump procedures, so you're not left guessing. First time renting an RV? Filter for travel trailers or smaller Class C motorhomes (under 25 feet) that drive almost like a big van and are easy to park at St. Joe State Park. You can also message hosts beforehand with any question, no matter how basic. And if anything comes up on the road, 24/7 roadside assistance is one tap away. Most first-timers tell us they wish they'd done it sooner.
rvezy.com/blog/the-ultimate-rv-rental-guide-for-beginnersWhat happens if my RV breaks down during my Farmington trip?
Take a deep breath, you're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on Highway 67, a battery dies at Elephant Rocks State Park, or the awning jams at your campsite, one phone call gets help dispatched. Farmington has full-service RV repair shops in town and St. Louis is just an hour north for any heavier work. Your host is also your secret weapon: they know their RV's quirks better than anyone and are almost always reachable by phone or RVezy message. Save the roadside number to your phone before you leave town. Most issues are small and fixed within hours, so your Farmington RV trip stays on track.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Farmington RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes to other states, and that's where Farmington really shines as a road-trip base. Most RVezy hosts in Missouri are happy for you to cross into Illinois (the Shawnee National Forest is about 90 minutes east), Arkansas (the Buffalo National River is about 4 hours south), Kentucky, or Tennessee. Cross-border travel into Canada may be possible with host approval and insurance confirmation, so message the host directly before booking if that's the plan. Heads up: travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental due to insurance limitations. For an easy RV road trip from Farmington, try the loop through Sainte Genevieve, across the river to Chester, IL, and back through the Mississippi bluffs.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat's a realistic fuel budget for an RV trip from Farmington?
Easier than most people expect. Missouri consistently has some of the lowest gas prices in the country. Travel trailers towed by a half-ton truck get 10 to 14 MPG, Class C motorhomes return 8 to 12 MPG, and big Class A rigs run 7 to 9 MPG. For a typical 4-day, 400-mile loop hitting St. Joe State Park, Johnson's Shut-Ins, and Elephant Rocks, budget roughly $130 to $200 in fuel based on current Missouri averages. Pro tip: fill up in Farmington or Park Hills before heading into the more remote parts of Mark Twain National Forest, where stations are scarcer and prices can climb 30 to 50 cents per gallon.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Farmington?
Earlier is better, but you've still got options even last-minute. Missouri State Parks like St. Joe, Hawn, Johnson's Shut-Ins, and Washington open reservations on a rolling basis through the official state parks reservation system, and summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day) often fill 3 to 6 months out. Fall weekends in October book up fast for leaf peepers, so aim for 60 to 90 days ahead. Private RV parks near Farmington are usually bookable 2 to 4 weeks out. Pro tip: weeknights almost always have openings, even in peak season, so build a Tuesday-to-Thursday segment into your Farmington RV trip to lock in the best sites without the booking stress.
mostateparks.com/page/55196/camping-reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Farmington?
Pretty mellow, which is great news for RV drivers. Farmington sits on US Highway 67, a wide four-lane corridor with gentle grades that runs straight from St. Louis to Arkansas, ideal for getting comfortable behind the wheel of your motorhome rental Farmington-bound. Local roads have rolling hills (you're at the foot of the St. Francois Mountains, with elevations from about 700 to 1,700 feet), some curves toward Johnson's Shut-Ins and Taum Sauk, and the occasional gravel forest road in Mark Twain National Forest. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, summer thunderstorms with high winds, and winter ice from December through February. Avoid narrow back roads to the shut-ins after dark, and stick to daylight driving your first time out.
traveler.modot.org/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Farmington?
Most are well-equipped. St. Joe State Park offers electric hookups (30 and 50 amp), water spigots, a dump station, hot showers, and flush toilets. Johnson's Shut-Ins has full-hookup sites with sewer, plus a camp store and laundry. Private parks in the Farmington area generally offer full hookups with WiFi, propane refills, and ice on site. For fresh water fills and dumping between trips, Missouri State Parks near Farmington have dump stations open to registered campers. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot water hose and both 30 and 50 amp adapters since older state park sites occasionally need both.
mostateparks.com/park/st-joe-state-parkWhat's actually inside the RVs I can rent in Farmington?

A typical RV rental in Farmington, MO sleeps 4 to 8 people in real beds (queen or king up front, convertible dinette, and bunks in family rigs), with a full kitchen featuring a 3-burner propane stove, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, sink, and cookware already stocked. Bathrooms include a toilet, shower, and sink. Most rentals have air conditioning, furnace heat, awnings, and outdoor speakers. Many include a generator, solar panels, WiFi booster, TV/DVD, and seatbelts for every passenger. Campervan rental Farmington listings (Class B) are leaner but still pack a kitchenette and bed. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Farmington%2C%20MissouriWhat add-ons can I get with my Farmington RV rental?
Plenty, and the right add-ons turn a good RV trip into a great one. Common extras on RVezy listings in the Farmington area include camping chairs and tables ($15 to $30 per trip), bedding and linen packages ($40 to $75), kitchen kits, bikes and kayaks (perfect for the St. Francis River at Silver Mines), generators, portable grills, and pet packages. Many hosts offer delivery and setup and even pre-stocking of the fridge for an extra fee. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Farmington, Park Hills, or Bonne Terre, with most asking for a 24-hour notice window. Check the Add-Ons section of each listing before booking, and message the host to bundle for a possible discount.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Farmington%2C%20MissouriHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Simple and transparent. When you book your RV rental in Farmington, MO on RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, no cash changing hands with the host. A security deposit is placed as a separate pre-authorization hold on your card before pickup, not actually charged, and is independent from your booking payment. As long as you return the RV in the condition you got it, the hold is released after your trip. To avoid any deposit issues, do the walkthrough with your host at pickup, snap photos of any existing scuffs, return with the same fuel and propane level, and empty the tanks at a dump station before drop-off.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a can't-miss local experience on a Farmington RV trip?
Here's the insider move: drive about 20 minutes northwest to Bonne Terre Mine, a former lead mine turned underground attraction known for its walking and boat tours through the historic shafts. The tour stays at a steady cool temperature year-round, which is heaven in July humidity and cozy in January. Pair it with a stop at a local sanctuary or winery, then finish at a tasting room for a sunset glass on the patio. Park your rig at St. Joe State Park (10 minutes away) and you've got the perfect Missouri RV camping Farmington day. Family RV trip Farmington favorite: add a morning at Elephant Rocks State Park's billion-year-old granite boulders.
