2022 Forest River Travel Trailer
In a word - excellent. That’s how I would describe the experience with Steve and his RV. Well-appointed, very clean, and a comprehensive manual for renters. Steve (and his wife and son) were such great collaborators in general, particularly for a festival drop off that was anything but straightforward! Next May, I will be renting from Steve again if the RV is available.

Good value for the money. Rv was in good condition and ready to go on pickup. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and responsive. 9/10 would rent from again, 9 only for the purposes that we may rent a bigger rv in the future. But it reasonably accommodated 9 people for its size. We had a great trip.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Newark, OH

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Newark, Ohio?

An RV rental in Newark is one of the most affordable ways to explore central Ohio. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $140 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275 per night, and Class A coaches run $250 to $400 per night. You will often find cheap RV rental Newark options midweek and during shoulder seasons like April and October. To save more, filter by Instant Book, message hosts about weekly discounts, and consider a travel trailer if you already have a tow vehicle. Pro tip: booking Sunday through Thursday around Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks visits often unlocks lower nightly rates than weekend trips tied to Ohio State football Saturdays.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Newark, Ohio?

Good news for first-timers: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Newark, Ohio. Ohio does not require a commercial driver's license or special endorsement for personal RVs under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every motorhome and travel trailer on RVezy. You will need to be 25 or older and complete a quick ID confirmation through RVezy during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit. Most renters are surprised how straightforward it is, so you can focus on planning stops at Dawes Arboretum and the Great Circle Earthworks instead of paperwork.

Is my RV rental in Newark protected if something goes wrong?

Yes, every RVezy booking in Newark includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover damages to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during booking (not the host) so you can match it to your comfort. It offers meaningful financial protection for renters exploring Licking County and beyond. Pro tip: walk through the RV with your host at pickup, snap photos of the exterior and interior, and you will start your Newark RV trip fully documented and worry-free.

What if I need to cancel my Newark RV rental?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your Newark dates with confidence. The policy also accounts for qualifying disruptions, which matters in Ohio where spring storms can roll through Licking County. Because the exact refund depends on how far out your trip is, review the current cancellation terms on RVezy's Help Center or contact support. Pro tip: book early for popular summer weekends near Buckeye Lake, then relax knowing you have a real safety net.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Newark RV trip?

Fuel is easier to predict than most people expect. Ohio gas prices typically sit near or slightly below the national average, with stations along I-70 and Route 16 offering competitive pricing. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, budget roughly $120 to $160 in fuel. Private parks like Buckeye Lake KOA and Apple Valley also fill quickly around Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Pro tip: if you strike out on a weekend, check Sunday-to-Thursday availability, you will often find prime sites wide open and pair beautifully with a midweek motorhome rental Newark booking.

Driving conditions around Newark are very RV-friendly, which is part of why central Ohio is such a popular first trip. Roads are mostly flat to gently rolling, lanes are wide on State Route 16 and I-70, and traffic is light compared to major metros. Watch for a few low railroad underpasses in older downtown Newark (stick to truck routes if your rig is over 12 feet), and take the bypass around Granville's narrow brick streets. Winter can bring snow and ice from December through February, so check the Ohio Department of Transportation's OHGO traffic site before heading out. Pro tip: a quick practice loop on the Route 16 expressway between Newark and Granville builds confidence before bigger adventures.

Most parks have fire rings, picnic tables, and dump stations open to registered campers.
