Me and my family rented a beautiful camper from Mathews Aspen trailer. Communication was great drop off was there when it was supposed to been dropped off, inside camper was extremely clean. It was left just as good when checking out.We only used camper for sleeping and the air conditioner worked perfect with temps close to 100° The campground that we stayed at had so many activities and so much going on that we never even spent a moment in the camper until evening. Five star experience.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Cranston, RI
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Cranston, RI?
RV rental in Cranston is more affordable than traditional rental agencies. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, campervans run $150 to $225, and larger Class A or Class C motorhomes range from $200 to $350 per night. Hosts in the Cranston area set their own pricing, so you'll find options for every budget. For a cheap RV rental in Cranston, book a travel trailer with delivery so you skip the tow vehicle entirely. Pro tip: midweek bookings in May or late September often shave 15 to 25 percent off summer rates, and you'll still get great New England weather.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Cranston%2C%20Rhode%20IslandWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Cranston, Rhode Island?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Cranston. Rhode Island does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs under 26,000 pounds, which covers essentially every RV on RVezy. You'll need to be 25 or older and upload a clear photo of your license during booking so the platform can confirm your ID. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home country license. That's it, you're ready to hit Interstate 95 and start your Rhode Island RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs protection included with my Cranston RV rental?
Yes, every booking on RVezy automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on your trip. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your rental, giving you financial peace of mind without arranging a separate policy. During checkout you'll choose between different protection tiers depending on how much coverage you want. For a Cranston RV trip exploring narrow coastal roads like Ocean Drive in Newport, the higher tier is a smart upgrade. Book with confidence knowing you're covered from the moment you drive away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat's the cancellation policy if my plans change?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (hosts do not set their own terms), and it includes a full money-back grace period right after you book, so you have time to confirm campground reservations and time off work before fully committing. Refund amounts after that window depend on how far out you cancel. If a host cancels, you'll receive a refund or travel credit. Pro tip: book early to lock in summer dates around Cranston, then use the grace period to finalize your route through Newport, Narragansett, or Block Island ferries.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on my Cranston RV rental?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Cranston is easy to find. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings from local hosts who welcome dogs and sometimes cats. Many Rhode Island campgrounds are dog-friendly too, including Fishermen's Memorial State Park in Narragansett and Burlingame State Campground in Charlestown, both within an hour's drive. Closer to home, Roger Williams Park in Providence has miles of leashed walking trails just 10 minutes from Cranston. Some hosts charge a small pet cleaning fee, which will be clearly listed before you book. Pro tip: message the host before booking to share your pup's size and breed, it usually speeds up approval and sets everyone up for a great trip.
riparks.ri.gov/parks/burlingame-state-park-campgroundCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Cranston?
Yes, RV delivery in Cranston is one of the most popular options, especially for first-time renters who don't want to drive a big rig through Providence traffic. Many local hosts will deliver the RV directly to your campsite, driveway, or even a tailgate spot at Gillette Stadium, then handle the full setup including leveling, hookups, and slide-outs. They'll walk you through how everything works before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer this service, then check their listing for delivery fees, which are usually based on mileage from their location. Pro tip: delivery to Fishermen's Memorial State Park or Colwell's Family Campground turns your motorhome rental in Cranston into a true plug-and-play vacation.
riparks.ri.gov/parks/fishermens-memorial-state-park-campgroundHow does the mileage policy work, and can I get unlimited mileage?
You have flexibility here. Each Cranston host sets their own mileage allowance, typically 100 to 150 free miles per day, with a small per-mile fee after that (usually 30 to 50 cents). Some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal if you're planning a longer New England loop. From Cranston you're only about 50 miles to Boston, 90 miles to Cape Cod's Hyannis area, 170 miles to the New Hampshire White Mountains, and about 280 miles to Acadia gateway towns in coastal Maine. Pro tip: add up your planned mileage before booking and message the host, many will bundle a flat-rate mileage package that's cheaper than paying per mile.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106514-Understanding-mileage-and-generator-usageWhere can I camp with my RV near Cranston?
You've got fantastic options within an easy drive. Colwell's Family Campground in Coventry is just 15 minutes west of Cranston with full hookups and a lake for swimming. Fishermen's Memorial State Park in Narragansett (about 30 minutes south) offers 182 sites near Scarborough Beach. Burlingame State Campground in Charlestown has 692 sites along Watchaug Pond, perfect for a family RV trip in Cranston's backyard. Whispering Pines Campground in West Greenwich is another favorite, with a pool and family activities. For the best campgrounds near Cranston in peak summer, book Rhode Island State Parks through the official reservation site as soon as the booking window opens (typically 6 months out).
riparks.ri.gov/reservationsWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Cranston?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping in Cranston and across Rhode Island. June brings warm 70 to 80 degree days and blooming coastal landscapes, July and August deliver classic 80 to 90 degree beach weather (and busy campgrounds), and September is the local insider favorite: warm Atlantic water, fewer crowds, and dropping rates. Foliage peaks in mid to late October when temps cool to the 50s and 60s, making it ideal for a scenic drive up to the Berkshires. Winter rentals are possible but most Rhode Island campgrounds close from November to April. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season Cranston RV trip and pair it with the Newport International Boat Show in mid-September.
weather.gov/box/climateI've never rented an RV before. Will I know what I'm doing?
You're going to do great, and you won't be left to figure it out alone. First time renting an RV usually goes smoother than people expect because every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving tips, slide-outs, water and waste systems, the generator, and how to hook up at a campground. You can message your host with questions anytime before, during, or after your trip, and RVezy customer support is available 24/7. For your first rent an RV in Cranston experience, consider a Class C motorhome or a delivered travel trailer, both are beginner-friendly. Pro tip: do a short shakedown trip to Lincoln Woods State Park (15 minutes from Cranston) before tackling Cape Cod.
riparks.ri.gov/parks/lincoln-woods-state-parkWhat happens if something breaks down during my trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 1 near Westerly or a dead battery at a Newport campground is a phone call, not a crisis. The roadside team handles towing, jump starts, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel delivery. Your host is also a direct resource for quirks specific to their RV, and you can reach them right through the RVezy app. RVezy customer support is available too if you need backup. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup, it speeds up any roadside call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Cranston RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome and very popular for an RV road trip from Cranston. You're perfectly positioned for a New England loop: Boston (about 50 miles), Cape Cod (90 to 120 miles depending on town), the White Mountains of New Hampshire (about 170 miles), Acadia National Park in Maine (about 280 miles), and the Adirondacks (about 260 miles). Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection coverage, so confirm with the host before you book if Montreal or Quebec City is on your itinerary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: coastal Route 1 through Maine is a bucket-list drive and totally doable in a week from Cranston.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Cranston RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, but it's predictable. Class B campervan rental in Cranston gets 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, and Class A rigs run 7 to 10 MPG. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Rhode Island gas prices typically track within 10 cents of the national average, with stations along Route 2 in Warwick and I-95 in Cranston offering the best prices. For a 500-mile loop in a Class C, budget roughly $150 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Rhode Island before crossing into Connecticut on I-95, RI gas is usually cheaper thanks to lower state taxes.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Cranston?
For summer weekends, book as early as you can, ideally 4 to 6 months out. Rhode Island State Parks (including Burlingame, Fishermen's Memorial, and Charlestown Breachway) open reservations through the official ReserveAmerica-powered RI State Parks system, and prime July and August sites get scooped up within hours. Private campgrounds like Whispering Pines and Colwell's also fill fast for holiday weekends. For mid-week or shoulder-season trips, you can often book 2 to 4 weeks out and still get great spots. Pro tip: if your dates are locked in, reserve your campground first, then book your RV on RVezy, you can use the grace-period cancellation window if anything shifts.
riparks.ri.gov/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Cranston?
Cranston is one of the easier metro areas in the Northeast to drive an RV through. I-95, I-295, and Route 37 give you wide lanes and easy access in and out of the city. Avoid downtown Providence's Benefit Street and the narrow streets in Federal Hill, where height and width can be tight. Coastal routes like Ocean Drive in Newport are stunning but slow, plan for low-speed cruising. Watch for summer beach traffic on Route 4 and Route 1 heading to Narragansett on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings. Winter brings occasional nor'easters, but most RVezy rentals operate May through October. Pro tip: if Providence traffic worries you, book RV delivery in Cranston and skip the drive entirely.
dot.ri.gov/travel/index.phpWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Cranston?
Rhode Island campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable trip. State park campgrounds like Burlingame and Fishermen's Memorial offer water and electric hookups, dump stations, hot showers, and flush toilets, though full sewer hookups are less common at state sites. Private campgrounds like Colwell's Family Campground and Whispering Pines typically have full hookups (water, electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, pools, and laundry. For dumping and filling fresh water between trips, the dump station at Fishermen's Memorial is open to non-campers for a small fee. Most campgrounds have potable water spigots near the entrance. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 30-amp to 50-amp adapter, they cover almost every site in Rhode Island.
riparks.ri.gov/parks/fishermens-memorial-state-park-campgroundWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Cranston?
You'll be impressed by how complete these rigs are. Most Cranston RV rentals on RVezy come fully equipped: a real bed (or several) with linens often included, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink and basic cookware, an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, a furnace for cool New England nights, and a dining area that converts to extra sleeping space. Class C motorhomes typically sleep 4 to 7 with seatbelted seats for travel. Many include a generator, outdoor awning, and outdoor camp chairs. TVs and Wi-Fi hotspots are common add-ons. Pro tip: check the listing for the exact sleeps count and seatbelt count, especially for a family RV trip in Cranston where you need a seat for every traveler.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/passenger-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options do Cranston hosts offer?
You've got plenty of ways to customize. Popular add-ons from Cranston hosts include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, outdoor chairs and grills, generators, bike racks, kayaks, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Many hosts include a propane tank fill and offer pre-stocked starter packs so you arrive ready to camp. Pickup is usually at the host's location in Cranston, Warwick, or Providence, and delivery is widely available across Rhode Island and into nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies and pet rules are set per listing and shown clearly before you book. Pro tip: bundling delivery plus a linen pack saves you a Costco run and is the smartest move for a stress-free RV rental Rhode Island vacation.
visitrhodeisland.com/things-to-do/outdoors-recreation/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is straightforward and secure, all handled through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash or a card to the host directly. You'll pay the rental total, taxes, and any add-ons upfront when you book. A refundable security deposit is also placed on your card before your trip starts (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV), and it's released back to you after the host confirms the rig was returned in good shape, usually within a few days. To avoid any deposit issues on your Cranston RV rental, take timestamped photos at pickup and dropoff, return with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and empty the tanks if your host requires it. Transparent and built to protect both sides.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a great first road trip route from Cranston?
You're spoiled for choice. A classic 5-day RV road trip from Cranston: Day 1, head 30 minutes south to Fishermen's Memorial State Park for Narragansett beaches and Point Judith Lighthouse. Day 2, ferry over for a Block Island day trip. Day 3, drive 45 minutes to Newport for the Cliff Walk and Ocean Drive. Day 4, cross into Massachusetts and aim for Cape Cod (about 75 minutes to Sandwich, 2.5 hours to Provincetown). Day 5, loop back via Plymouth and Providence. Total mileage stays under 350, perfect for most host mileage policies. Pro tip: a Cranston RV trip in late September pairs warm ocean swims with quieter campgrounds and peak seafood season.
