My Family and I had a Blessed Time camping with Friends! Thanks to Christian - His prompt professional actions/responses were exactly what we needed to elevate our weekend Fellowship! We had multiple RV vendors, we had multiple camp sites reserved near “Host” site and a variation of experiences - seasoned campers as well as beginners/virgin campers. The group voted Christian’s “Campsite Reserve” RV the overall Best!!! My Family 💯% Agree!!!

This was an incredible camping experience! It was the ideal way to camp, as we had always used tents before. It was fantastic that the RV was delivered and ready to use! There was ample space for my family to enjoy the room without feeling cramped. A big storm rolled in, and it was a great place to come together and use the appliances inside to cook dinner and watch a movie as a family. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking a great camping stay, and for anyone who has always wanted to try out the RV experience!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Pendleton, SC

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Pendleton, SC?

RV rental in Pendleton is one of the best values in the Upstate. On RVezy, most travel trailers start around $90 to $150 per night, and Class C motorhomes typically run $150 to $250 per night. Larger Class A rigs and luxury fifth wheels can reach $300 or more, but you can filter by price to match your budget. Prices tend to spike around Clemson Tigers home football weekends and Lake Hartwell summer holidays, so book midweek or in the spring shoulder season for the best cheap RV rental Pendleton deals. Many hosts also offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent for trips longer than five nights.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Pendleton, SC?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Pendleton, SC. South Carolina does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs, even the big Class A motorhomes. You just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform when you book. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters are surprised how straightforward the paperwork is, so you can focus on planning your Blue Ridge or Lake Hartwell adventure instead.

Is my RV rental in Pendleton protected if something goes wrong?

Yes. Every RVezy booking in Pendleton includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are never on your own. You choose your preferred protection level at checkout (not the host), and it covers most accidental damage to the RV during your trip. While it is not traditional auto insurance, it offers strong peace of mind whether you are navigating I-85 through Anderson or backing into a wooded site at a Lake Hartwell campground. If a tire blows on US-76 or a slide-out gets stuck, one phone call gets help dispatched. That safety net is a big reason first-time renters feel confident booking an RV rental in Pendleton.

What if I need to cancel my Pendleton RV trip?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not the host, and there is a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund eligibility after that depends on how far out from your trip you cancel. You will see the full policy at checkout and in your RVezy account before you confirm. If plans shift because of a Clemson game schedule change or a family curveball, RVezy customer support is reachable before, during, and after your trip to help you sort it out, and host-initiated cancellations are refunded or credited to you in full.

Can I bring my dog on an RV rental in Pendleton, SC?

Absolutely. Pet-friendly RV rental Pendleton options are easy to find on RVezy: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you will see plenty of motorhomes and travel trailers where dogs (and sometimes cats) are welcome, often with a small cleaning fee. Pendleton and the surrounding Upstate are very dog-friendly. The South Carolina Botanical Garden in nearby Clemson allows leashed dogs on its trails, Lake Hartwell State Park welcomes leashed pets in the campground and on day-use trails, and Issaqueena Falls trail near Walhalla is a short, shaded hike your pup will love. Message the host before booking to confirm pet details, and pack a 6-foot leash since most campgrounds require it.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Pendleton?

Yes. RV delivery in Pendleton is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to your site at a Lake Hartwell campground, Clemson-area RV park, or even your private property in Anderson County, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees are typically based on mileage from the host's location, so closer campgrounds are cheaper. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer it. It is a great option if you are flying into Greenville-Spartanburg Airport (GSP) and want to skip the driving entirely.

How far can I drive on an RV rental from Pendleton?

Plenty far. Pendleton sits in a sweet spot in the Upstate with quick access to mountains, lakes, and major cities. Many hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage (filter for it on RVezy). From Pendleton you can reach Asheville, NC in about 1 hour 45 minutes (75 miles), Great Smoky Mountains National Park in roughly 2.5 hours (130 miles), Charleston in about 4 hours (220 miles), and Atlanta in about 2 hours (120 miles). If you plan to log serious miles, message the host before booking to add a mileage package, which usually beats per-mile overage fees.

Where are the best campgrounds near Pendleton, SC?

You are spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Pendleton start with Twin Lakes Campground (US Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Hartwell), which offers wooded waterfront sites with electric and water hookups. Lake Hartwell State Park in Fair Play has full-hookup sites and a swim beach. Devils Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee, about 45 minutes north, is the gateway to crystal-clear mountain water and waterfalls. Oconee State Park near Mountain Rest offers shaded forested sites in the Blue Ridge foothills. South Cove County Park on Lake Keowee rounds out the list with shaded lakeside sites that are perfect for an Upstate RV camping Pendleton getaway.

When is the best time to plan a Pendleton RV trip?

Pendleton is a near year-round RV destination, but the sweet spots are April through early June and September through early November, when daytime temperatures run a pleasant 65 to 80 F and humidity drops. July and August are hot and humid (highs near 90 F with frequent afternoon thunderstorms), but lake life on Hartwell and Jocassee makes up for it. Fall is magical with Clemson football Saturdays, Blue Ridge leaf-peeping in October, and crisp campfire nights. Winter (December to February) is mild with highs typically in the 50s, so motorhome rental Pendleton bookings stay open most of the year. Tip: avoid home football weekends unless you are going for the game, since lodging fills up fast.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?

You are going to do great, and you will not be alone figuring it out. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering propane, the generator, water systems, slide-outs, and dumping, and most provide a written cheat sheet you can keep on the dashboard. First time renting an RV in Pendleton is easier than in most US cities because the roads are calm, speed limits are reasonable, and US-76 and SC-28 give you wide, straight practice routes before you tackle bigger drives. Start with a travel trailer or Class C if you are nervous, and choose delivery so the host parks and sets up the RV for you. Then call or message your host anytime during the trip if a question pops up.

What happens if my RV breaks down during my trip?

You are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if a tire blows on I-85, the battery dies at a Lake Hartwell campground, or the fridge stops cooling overnight near Clemson, one call gets a technician dispatched. Your host is also a direct lifeline by phone or RVezy message and usually knows the RV's quirks better than anyone. For mechanical issues, Anderson County has multiple RV service centers within about 20 minutes of Pendleton, and Greenville (around 45 minutes away) has even more. Keep the RVezy support number and your host's contact saved on your phone, and you will never be stranded.

Can I take my Pendleton RV rental across state lines?

Yes, and you absolutely should. Pendleton's location near the SC, GA, and NC borders makes it perfect for an RV road trip from Pendleton. North Georgia (Tallulah Gorge, Helen) is under an hour away, the North Carolina mountains (Asheville, Cherokee, the Smokies) are 1.5 to 2.5 hours north, and Tennessee, Florida, and Virginia are all easy multi-day reaches. Travel within the US and Canada is generally allowed on RVezy bookings, but Mexico is not permitted because protection coverage does not extend there. If you are planning a cross-border Canada run, message the host before booking to confirm and discuss extra mileage. Otherwise, the Southeast is your oyster.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Pendleton RV trip?

Fuel is one of the biggest variables, but South Carolina consistently has some of the lowest gas prices in the country, which keeps your motorhome rental Pendleton trip budget-friendly. Expect roughly 8 to 10 MPG for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, and 12 to 16 MPG when towing a travel trailer with a pickup. At typical SC gas prices, budget around $100 to $150 in fuel for a weekend loop to Lake Jocassee or Asheville. Top off in Pendleton or Anderson before you head into the mountains, where gas can jump significantly per gallon. Costco in Greenville is the cheapest fill-up nearby if you have a membership.
gasprices.aaa.com/state-gas-price-averages/

How far in advance should I book a campground near Pendleton?

For the best sites, book early, especially for Lake Hartwell waterfront spots. South Carolina State Parks (including Lake Hartwell, Devils Fork, and Oconee) take reservations up to 13 months in advance through southcarolinaparks.com, and prime summer weekends fill within minutes of opening. US Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds like Twin Lakes and Springfield on Lake Hartwell use Recreation.gov and open six months out. Clemson-area RV parks book up well ahead for home football weekends. For a flexible spring or fall trip, 4 to 8 weeks out is usually plenty. Tip: set a Recreation.gov cancellation alert, since waterfront sites often pop back open within 48 hours of arrival.

What are the local driving conditions like around Pendleton?

Driving an RV in Pendleton is genuinely relaxing compared to bigger cities. The town itself is small with low-traffic two-lane roads, and US-76, US-123, and SC-28 are wide, well-maintained, and RV-friendly. I-85 (the main interstate corridor 10 minutes south) gets busy during Clemson game-day traffic and weekday rush around Anderson and Greenville, so plan arrivals outside 4 to 6 pm. Heading into the Blue Ridge foothills on SC-11 (the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway), expect winding sections and 6 to 8 percent grades approaching Table Rock and Caesars Head, so downshift and use engine braking. Summer afternoon thunderstorms can pop up fast, so check radar before driving on lake roads with limited shoulders.

What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Pendleton?

You will find a great mix. Most South Carolina State Parks and US Army Corps of Engineers parks on Lake Hartwell offer 30/50 amp electric and water hookups at every site, with centralized dump stations near the entrance. Full sewer hookups are standard at private parks and KOAs in the area. Potable water fill stations, hot showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi are common at private parks; state and Corps parks usually have showers and dump stations but spottier Wi-Fi. Pendleton-area campgrounds nearly all allow campfires in provided rings (subject to occasional burn bans during dry spells), and most sell firewood on-site. Bring a 25-foot sewer hose and a water pressure regulator just in case.

What's actually inside the RVs available in Pendleton?

Way more than you might expect. Most RVs available for rent in Pendleton come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, bunks or a convertible dinette for kids, a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof AC, propane furnace, and seatbelted seating that matches the sleep count. Class C and Class A motorhomes typically include a generator for boondocking, an awning, and a flat-screen TV. Wi-Fi varies by host (rural Pendleton has decent Verizon and AT&T coverage but service can drop deep in the Sumter National Forest), so check the listing. Travel trailers and fifth wheels offer more living space per dollar, making them popular for family RV trip Pendleton bookings.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Pendleton,%20SC

What add-ons and extras can I get with my Pendleton RV rental?

Lots of fun stuff. Pendleton hosts commonly offer add-ons like linen and towel packages, kitchen kits, outdoor camp chairs, propane fire pits, bike racks, kayaks and paddleboards (handy on Lake Hartwell and Keowee), generators, and pet packages. Many include delivery and setup, dump station service at return, and propane fills so you do not have to deal with it yourself. Pickup and drop-off windows are set by each host and shown on the listing; most are flexible if you message ahead. Mileage policies vary, but expect 100 to 150 free miles per night with overage commonly in the 35 to 50 cents per mile range. Want unlimited miles? Filter for it or just ask the host.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, and your funds are held by RVezy (not the host) until your trip starts, protecting both sides. A refundable security deposit is also placed on hold on your card a few days before pickup, with the amount shown on the listing and varying by the RV's value. As long as you return the RV on time, in the same condition, with the agreed fuel and tank levels, the deposit is released within a few days of the trip end. To avoid surprises: take photos at pickup and drop-off, follow the host's dump and fuel instructions, and message the host immediately if anything changes mid-trip.

What are the best road trip destinations from Pendleton, SC?

Pendleton is a launchpad for some of the Southeast's best scenery. Top picks include Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway (about 1 hr 45 min, 75 miles) for breweries, mountain views, and Pisgah National Forest; Great Smoky Mountains National Park via Cherokee, NC (about 2.5 hrs, 130 miles), the most-visited national park in the country; Lake Jocassee and Devils Fork State Park (about 45 min, 30 miles) for waterfall boat tours and clear-water swimming; Charleston (about 4 hrs, 220 miles) for historic downtown and beach camping at James Island County Park; and Atlanta (about 2 hrs, 120 miles) for big-city escapes. Insider tip: take SC-11, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway, instead of I-85 toward the mountains, it is prettier and RV-friendly.
