We had an absolutely amazing experience renting Gloria’s RV. From start to finish, everything was smooth, well-communicated, and exactly as described. The RV itself was in great condition—clean, comfortable, and fully functional for everything we needed during our trip. It made the entire experience at SandFest that much better. What really stood out was Gloria as a host. She was responsive, helpful, and clearly takes pride in making sure her renters have a great experience. That level of care makes a huge difference. Even more importantly, my dog absolutely loved the trip. The setup worked perfectly, and it made traveling with him easy and enjoyable. I would 100% rent from Gloria again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable RV experience.

Magee Beach Park near the jetty (great for fishing, with dump and fill service), and Padre Island National Seashore's Malaquite and Bird Island Basin campgrounds about 45 miles south. When is the best time of year for RV camping in Port Aransas?

Port Aransas is a true year-round RV destination, but spring (March–May) and fall (late September–November) are the sweet spots: highs in the 70s and low 80s F, lower humidity, calmer winds, and great bird migration. Summer (June–August) brings 88–92°F days, warm Gulf water, and the biggest crowds, perfect for a classic family RV trip Port Aransas style with the kids out of school. Winter is mild at 60–70°F by day, and Port A is one of the top snowbird destinations in Texas. Heads up: Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, so check NOAA forecasts and your RVezy host before any late-summer trip.
weather.gov/crp/climate

I've never driven an RV before. Is Port Aransas a good place to start?

It's honestly one of the best in Texas for first-time renters. Roads on Mustang Island are flat, wide, and slow (most are 35–45 mph), and the free Port Aransas Ferry across the Corpus Christi Ship Channel runs 24/7 and easily accommodates RVs. Your RVezy host gives a full walkthrough at pickup, covering propane, generator, slide-outs, leveling, and the holding tanks, and you can text them anytime during your trip. Even better, book delivery and you'll never have to drive it at all. First time renting an RV? Pick a travel trailer or Class C under 28 feet, schedule pickup mid-morning, and ease into it with a short drive to On The Beach RV Park.

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and tows, whether you're on Highway 361, parked on the permit beach, or out near Padre Island National Seashore. Your host is also a quick message away through the RVezy app and usually knows the local mobile RV techs by name. For anything beyond the rig itself, Aransas Pass and Corpus Christi both have full-service RV repair shops within 30 minutes. Help is always close.

Can I take my Port Aransas RV rental on a road trip to other Texas destinations or across state lines?

Yes, an RV road trip from Port Aransas is one of the best ways to see the Texas coast and beyond. Most RVezy hosts allow interstate travel anywhere in the continental U.S., great for trips to South Padre Island (about 165 miles south), the Texas Hill Country and Fredericksburg (about 200 miles), Big Bend National Park (about 580 miles), or New Orleans (about 540 miles). Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage don't extend there, so plan your routes within the U.S. Always message the host before booking to confirm your itinerary, especially if you're planning more than 1,000 miles total, so mileage add-ons can be locked in upfront.
txdot.gov/about/districts/corpus-christi.html

How much should I budget for fuel on my Port Aransas RV trip?

Fuel is one of the easier line items to plan. Gas-powered Class C motorhomes typically average 8 to 12 mpg, campervans 16 to 20 mpg, and trucks pulling travel trailers about 10 to 14 mpg. Texas regular gas usually runs below the national average (often $2.80–$3.20 per gallon in the Corpus Christi area), and there are Stripes, H-E-B Fuel, and Buc-ee's stations within 30 minutes of Port A for cheaper fills. For a 4-night loop covering Port Aransas, Padre Island National Seashore, and Rockport (roughly 200 miles), budget around $80–$150 in fuel. Pro tip: top off in Aransas Pass before crossing the ferry, on-island fuel is typically 20–30 cents higher.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far ahead should I reserve a campground near Port Aransas?

Earlier than you'd think, especially for the iconic spots. Mustang Island State Park accepts reservations up to five months in advance through the Texas State Parks reservation system, so book the moment your window opens for spring break, holiday weekends, and any Friday or Saturday from March through October. Private resorts like On The Beach RV Park, Pioneer Beach RV Resort, and Gulf Waters Beach Front RV Resort often book six to nine months ahead for summer and snowbird season (January to March). The 50 primitive drive-up beach sites at Mustang Island State Park are first-come, first-served, so arrive early. Pro tip: midweek arrivals almost always have openings, even in peak season.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/mustang-island/fees-facilities/campsites

What are the local driving conditions like on Mustang Island?

Driving in Port Aransas is refreshingly low-stress. Highway 361 is the main spine of Mustang Island, flat, two-to-four lanes, and capped at 35–55 mph, no mountain passes or tight switchbacks to worry about. The free Port Aransas Ferry crosses the Corpus Christi Ship Channel 24/7 and loads RVs of any size; lines can run 30–60 minutes on summer weekends, so aim for early morning or late evening. Watch for strong Gulf crosswinds (especially March–May) on the JFK Causeway south of town, and slow to 15 mph on the beach itself. Where to park an RV in Port Aransas? Stick to designated campgrounds or perpendicular-to-water beach spots, the dunes are protected and off-limits.
cityofportaransas.org/ferry.cfm

What amenities can I expect at Port Aransas campgrounds, and where can I dump or fill water?

Local campgrounds make RV camping Port Aransas easy. Most full-hookup parks like On The Beach RV Park, Pioneer Beach RV Resort, Gulf Waters, and LaFitte's Hideout offer 30/50-amp power, city water, sewer, Wi-Fi, laundry, fish-cleaning stations, and pool access. Mustang Island State Park has 48 sites with water and 50-amp electric plus hot showers, but no sewer at the site, you'll use the central dump station on your way out. I.B. Magee Beach Park sells dump-and-fill service for about $10, handy if you're boondocking on the permit beach. Pro tip: fill your fresh tank in town before driving onto the sand; potable water is limited on the open beach.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/mustang-island/fees-facilities/campsites

What's inside a typical Port Aransas RV rental? Beds, kitchen, bathroom, AC?

You'll feel right at home. A typical motorhome rental Port Aransas listing on RVezy comes fully equipped: a queen bed (often with a bunk or convertible dinette for kids), a kitchen with fridge, microwave, propane stove, and sink, a full bathroom with shower and toilet, roof-mounted air conditioning (critical here, summers regularly hit the high 80s and 90s), a furnace for cool winter nights, and seatbelts for every passenger. Many hosts add a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor shower, and an onboard generator or solar setup. Wi-Fi is sometimes included, but cell coverage is solid in town and patchy near Padre Island National Seashore, so download maps before heading south.

Pickup is usually at the host's location in Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Rockport, or Corpus Christi, and many will deliver to your campground or a Port A vacation rental driveway for a flat fee. Mileage policies vary by host, with some offering unlimited miles and others 100–150 free miles per night. Message the host before booking to confirm pickup time, drop-off, and any extras, and lock in your dates with confidence.

How does the security deposit and payment work for an RV rental in Port Aransas, TX?

Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book your RV rental in Port Aransas on RVezy, you pay the full rental amount through the platform, no cash to the host and no surprise charges at pickup. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your credit card a few days before your trip and released after drop-off, assuming the RV comes back in the same shape it left. Deposit amounts vary by RV type and host, and the exact amount is shown on the listing before you book. To avoid issues: do the walkthrough video at pickup, refuel before return, and dump the tanks if your host requires it.

Do I need a beach permit to camp on the sand in Port Aransas?

Yes, and it's a steal. The City of Port Aransas requires a $12 beach parking permit for vehicles parked on the sand between Markers 0 and 62, and that same sticker is also valid on Corpus Christi beaches all the way to the Kleberg County line. RV and tent camping are allowed on the beach with a current permit, with a three-night limit in any three-week period. RVs must park perpendicular to the water's edge year-round. Pick up your permit at City Hall, the Visitor Center, local grocery stores, or convenience stores on your way in, then enjoy waking up to the sound of Gulf surf.
