Jacob was great to work with, the rv was great, simple to set up and operate. Everything needed to hook up water, elect, and sewer was provided, plus some. We towed with a Dodge 2500 4dr, 8’ bed Cummins diesel, towed like a dream with a straight hitch even in the west Texas winds from Arlington TX to Ruisoso NM and back. I was very happy with the RV, and the owner. 5 stars

What license do I need to rent an RV in Rhome, TX?

Good news: a regular Texas driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Rhome, even for a Class A motorhome that many families pick for big trips. Texas does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement for personal RVs under 26,000 pounds. To book on RVezy, the approved driver generally needs to be 25 or older, and ID verification happens right inside the platform during checkout. Visiting from out of country? How far can I drive on an RV rental from Rhome?

Rhome sits at the crossroads of US-287 and US-81, making it an ideal launchpad for a Texas RV road trip from Rhome to almost anywhere in the state. Each host sets their own mileage policy: some offer generous daily allowances, others provide RV rental with unlimited mileage, especially for longer bookings. Popular runs include Fort Worth Stockyards (30 miles), Possum Kingdom Lake (75 miles), Glen Rose and Dinosaur Valley State Park (90 miles), Lake Texoma (95 miles), and Austin (210 miles). When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Rhome, TX?

The sweet spot for an RV trip Rhome locals recommend is spring (mid-March through May) and fall (late September through early November), when daytime temperatures sit in the comfortable 65 to 80 F range and wildflowers light up the Texas countryside. Summers from June through August routinely hit 95 to 105 F, so you'll want a rental with strong air conditioning and shaded sites. Winters are mild with daytime highs around 55 to 65 F, making December and January a quiet, affordable time to camp. Pro tip: April is bluebonnet season across Wise County, and the wildflower drives along FM 730 are picture-perfect from an RV window.

Can I take my Rhome RV rental out of state or across the border?

Just confirm with your host when booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage don't extend across that border. Cross-country trips north and east are popular: Hot Springs, Arkansas is about 6 hours, Santa Fe is 10 hours, and the Rocky Mountains are within reach for a weeklong adventure. Pro tip: message the host upfront about your full route so mileage and trip-length pricing can be locked in.

What should I budget for fuel on a Rhome RV trip?

Texas has some of the most affordable gas in the country, which is great news for your fuel budget. Expect Class C motorhomes to get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans 16 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers will reduce your tow vehicle's MPG by 30 to 40 percent. With Rhome-area gas typically running well below the national average, a 300-mile weekend in a Class C costs roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: top up at the Buc-ee's in Fort Worth or the Love's at the Rhome exit on US-287 before heading west toward Possum Kingdom, since prices climb once you're past the metroplex.

How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Rhome?

For the best Rhome RV trip experience, book popular campgrounds 2 to 3 months ahead, especially for spring break, summer weekends, and Texas Motor Speedway race events when sites within 20 miles vanish fast. Texas State Parks like Lake Mineral Wells (45 minutes south) open reservations 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks & Wildlife reservation system, and they fill quickly for spring weekends. Federal sites at LBJ National Grasslands and Army Corps lakes use Recreation.gov with a 6-month booking window. Pro tip: weekday arrivals are almost always available last-minute, so if your schedule is flexible, Tuesday-to-Thursday trips offer the easiest booking and the quietest campgrounds.

What's it like driving an RV around Rhome and DFW?

Driving an RV in and around Rhome is genuinely easygoing: the town sits along US-287 and US-81 with wide lanes, gentle terrain, and minimal hills, making it a forgiving place for new RVers. The main thing to plan for is rush-hour traffic on I-35W and 820 around Fort Worth (avoid 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6:30 p.m.). Watch for sudden Texas weather: spring thunderstorms can bring hail and strong crosswinds, so check the National Weather Service Fort Worth forecast before driving. Pro tip: if downtown DFW or the Stockyards make you nervous, use RV delivery Rhome service and have your host drop the rig at your campground instead.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Booking an RV rental in Rhome through RVezy is straightforward and secure: you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host in cash. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (the amount varies by RV and host), and it is released after dropoff once the host confirms the RV is returned in good condition with no damage. Pro tip: take dated walkaround photos and a short video at both pickup and dropoff, documenting tires, exterior, interior, tanks, and fuel level, this simple step protects everyone and keeps your security deposit release fast and painless.
