Camping near Bonadelle Ranchos
Bonadelle Ranchos sits in Madera County in California's Central Valley, just north of Fresno and about a half-hour west of the southern Sierra foothills. Its elevation is slightly higher than the surrounding valley floor but below the foothill belt, with the rugged Sierra Nevada rising roughly seven miles to the northeast. That position makes it a practical RV base for trips to Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon, with closer day runs to Millerton Lake and Bass Lake.
The nearest public camping is at Millerton Lake State Recreation Area, where the Rocky Point, Mono, Ft Miller, and Duma Strand loops sit on a bluff above the reservoir, and the Meadows and Valley Oak loops occupy the same park. Private options closer to town include Fresno Mobile Home and RV Park and New Horizons Mobile/ RV Park, both used for full-hookup stays. Members of the Escapees club can also use Park of the Sierras in nearby Coarsegold, an adults-only co-op park.
Things to do near Bonadelle Ranchos
Most activity centers on Millerton Lake. With more than 40 miles of shoreline, the lake supports boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, water skiing, jet skiing, swimming, windsurfing, and sailing, plus hiking and wildlife viewing that can include bald and golden eagles. Trails throughout the park suit a range of skill levels, including equestrian routes, and the San Joaquin River Trail offers longer outings for stronger hikers. The original Millerton County Courthouse, which dates to 1867, sits within the park. Day trips reach Yosemite's south entrance, Bass Lake, and the wineries and farm stands of the Madera AVA. Coarsegold and Oakhurst add small-town stops for groceries and supplies on the way to the high country.

The local climate follows a classic Central Valley pattern: hot, dry summers and cool, damp winters. Summer afternoons can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the hottest stretches, while winters are mild with occasional overnight frost. Annual precipitation is modest and concentrated between November and March.
Spring is the most comfortable season for RV travel. Wildflowers bloom across the foothills, lake levels are usually high, and daytime highs sit in a pleasant range for hiking. Summer brings reliable sun for water sports, but afternoon heat at exposed lake-bluff sites can be intense, and shade is uneven. Some loops offer more shade than others, which matters during hot summer months. Fall cools quickly after September and is a strong shoulder season for quieter campgrounds. Winter is the wettest stretch and the season for eagle watching, with special boat tours running on Millerton Lake to view bald and golden eagles. Tule fog can reduce valley visibility on winter mornings.

We rented this RV for the long weekend for our first camping trip with our 1-year-old and 5-year-old, and we had such a wonderful time! The RV was incredibly clean, new, and comfortable. We also needed the trailer to be delivered, and the entire communication and delivery process was so smooth and right on time. We really appreciate all of the help and kindness from the owner. On our way back, our car wouldn’t start when he came to pick up the trailer. He took the time to help us with our car and suggested something that actually worked and got it started! We truly appreciated him going above and beyond to help us. We would definitely book another trip with him in the future.

RV was nice and clean, a couple of mishaps refrigerator door does not lock so our food fell out all over the floor neither does the cabinet door and our dry goods also flew out onto the floor, battery would not hold a charge.

I truly can’t say enough about how amazing our experience was with Andrea’s travel trailer. The communication before booking was outstanding, and when we needed a couple of extra considerations they were so kind and helpful. The trailer was delivered in immaculate shape and cleanliness. Everything functioned perfectly and there were no surprises, other than the fact that the trailer was even better than expected. We wouldn’t hesitate to rent this trailer again, and anyone who rents it will be VERY happy with both the trailer and the booking experience!

Booking and reservations
Sites at Millerton Lake State Recreation Area are booked through the California State Parks reservation system, ReserveCalifornia. All sites are reservable and can be booked up to six months in advance. 114 sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 36 feet, 25 sites have electric and water hookups, and one site has a water hookup only. Summer weekends and holidays fill first, so booking at the six-month window is recommended for those dates, while walk-in availability is more realistic on spring and fall midweek nights. Occupancy is capped at eight people per family campsite, and sites are designed for no more than three vehicles, with additional vehicles directed to overflow parking. Private parks such as Fresno Mobile Home and RV Park and New Horizons Mobile/ RV Park book directly. Park of the Sierras requires an Escapees membership before reserving.
What to expect on site
Millerton Lake's main campground sits on an open bluff with lake views and holds 135 campsites. Sites 117 to 143 have electric hookups, sites 91 to 143 have shade shelters, and all sites have a paved parking spur, table, food storage cabinet, fire ring, and grill. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, vault toilets, hot showers, a dump station, a boat ramp, picnic area, and playground, and cell service is fair. Bear-resistant food storage is provided because foothill wildlife is active in the area. Private parks closer to Fresno trade scenery for full hookups, laundry, and easier access to groceries and fuel. Park of the Sierras offers wooded, tiered sites with full hookups but restricts use to Escapees members aged 55 and over.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bonadelle%20Ranchos%2C%20CaliforniaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Madera County, California?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Bonadelle Ranchos. California does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special RV endorsement for the motorhomes and trailers you will find on RVezy. To qualify as an approved driver on RVezy, you generally need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Pair your home country license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) before you fly in. Most first-time renters are surprised how quick and paperwork-free the whole process is.

rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat is the cancellation policy if my Bonadelle Ranchos RV trip plans change?
You can book your Bonadelle Ranchos RV rental with confidence. RVezy sets the cancellation policy directly, not individual hosts, and every booking includes a grace period after confirmation where you can cancel for a full refund. After that window, refund amounts depend on how far out you cancel. If a host cancels your trip, RVezy refunds you or provides travel credits. You will see the exact cancellation terms before you confirm payment, so there are no surprises. Pro tip: book earlier rather than later for the best rig selection, knowing the grace period has your back if life changes plans.

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Bonadelle Ranchos is easy to find on RVezy. Just flip on the Pet-Friendly filter when browsing, and you'll see plenty of hosts who welcome dogs (some welcome cats too). Many hosts charge a small pet fee, which you'll see clearly on the listing before you book. parks.ca.gov/?page_id=24435Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Bonadelle Ranchos?
Yes, RV delivery in Bonadelle Ranchos is one of the most popular options, especially for first-time renters who don't want to drive a big rig down Avenue 12 or up Highway 41. Many local hosts will deliver the RV right to your campground, vacation rental, or even your driveway, then set up the awning, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. Use the Delivery filter to instantly see who offers it. Common delivery destinations from Bonadelle Ranchos include Millerton Lake, Bass Lake, and the south Yosemite entrance near Fish Camp. Delivery fees vary by distance, but for a stress-free first time renting an RV, it's worth every penny.

For mountain vibes, head 45 minutes up Highway 41 to High Sierra RV Park or Yosemite RV Resort in Coarsegold. Pro tip: Millerton Lake books up fast on summer weekends, so reserve through ReserveCalifornia six months ahead. Most hosts also list dump stations and water fill spots in their welcome guide.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=587When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Bonadelle Ranchos?
The sweet spots for a Bonadelle Ranchos RV trip are mid-March through May and September through early November. Spring brings wildflowers across the Sierra foothills and Yosemite's waterfalls at peak flow, with daytime highs in the 65 to 80°F range. Fall delivers crisp 70s, golden vineyard colors, and far fewer crowds. Summer (June through August) is hot, often 95 to 105°F in the Central Valley, so plan for early starts and lean on the rental's air conditioning, then escape to higher elevations like Bass Lake or Shaver Lake. Winter is mild here (40s to 50s), but watch for dense Tule fog mornings, when valley visibility can drop to under 500 feet.
weather.gov/hnx/I've never rented an RV before. How does pickup and orientation work?
First time renting an RV? You're in great hands. At pickup, your Bonadelle Ranchos host will give you a hands-on walkthrough of everything: how to level the rig, run the generator, operate the slide-outs, dump waste tanks, and use the propane stove and fridge. Most walkthroughs take 30 to 60 minutes, and hosts encourage questions. You'll also get their phone number for the whole trip, so a quick text answers most curveballs. RVezy's 24/7 support is there too if you need backup. Pro tip: ask your host to record a short video of the orientation on your phone, so you can replay the propane and dump station steps later at the campground.
nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/rvs.htmWhat happens if I have a breakdown or roadside issue during my Bonadelle Ranchos RV trip?
Do not sweat it: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking through the protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and fuel delivery. If something mechanical pops up while you are heading up Highway 41 toward Yosemite or cruising Highway 99 back to Madera, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also your first lifeline for quick questions, like how to reset the GFCI outlet or restart the water pump. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip for anything bigger. Pro tip: snap photos of the RV's tire pressure sticker and propane shutoff location at pickup, so you can quickly relay info if you need to call for help.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Bonadelle Ranchos RV rental across state lines or into another country?
Yes, you can absolutely turn your RV rental in Bonadelle Ranchos into a multi-state road trip. Popular interstate routes include Bonadelle Ranchos to Las Vegas (about 410 miles via Highway 99 and I-15), Bonadelle Ranchos to the Oregon coast, and loops through Nevada and Arizona. Travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval since RVezy protection extends across the border for many listings, so message the host first to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection plan does not extend there. Pro tip: confirm any out-of-state plans with your host before booking so mileage and routing are sorted up front.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat's the realistic fuel budget for an RV road trip from Bonadelle Ranchos?
Plan smart and fuel won't blow your budget. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 MPG, and big Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle, usually 10 to 14 MPG combined. California gas is among the priciest in the country, so for an RV road trip from Bonadelle Ranchos, expect to pay a noticeable premium over national averages. Pro tip: fill up in Madera or Chowchilla before heading into the Sierra, because gas in Oakhurst, Fish Camp, and inside Yosemite is significantly more expensive. Apps like GasBuddy save you real money on a long Central Valley loop.
energy.ca.gov/data-reports/energy-almanac/transportation-energy/california-retail-fuel-outlet-annual-reportingHow far in advance should I book a campground near Bonadelle Ranchos?
For the best campgrounds near Bonadelle Ranchos, book early, especially anything tied to Yosemite. Yosemite National Park campgrounds release reservations on Recreation.gov five months ahead at 7 AM Pacific on the 15th of each month, and popular sites sell out within minutes. California State Parks like Millerton Lake open six months out on ReserveCalifornia, and summer weekends fill fast. Private RV parks (The Lakes, Yosemite RV Resort, Madera Fairgrounds) usually have more flexibility, but still aim for 2 to 3 months ahead in peak season. Pro tip: if you strike out on a Yosemite spot, set a Recreation.gov alert for cancellations, they happen daily.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2991What are the driving conditions like around Bonadelle Ranchos?
Driving an RV around Bonadelle Ranchos is genuinely easy compared to coastal California. The community sits at 338 feet elevation with flat, open county roads like Avenue 12 and Road 36, perfect for first-timers getting used to a bigger rig. Highway 41 north toward Yosemite is well-maintained with gradual climbs (no white-knuckle switchbacks until you're well past Oakhurst), and Highway 99 south to Fresno is wide and straight. Two things to watch: thick Tule fog on winter mornings (sometimes under 500 feet visibility), and summer heat that can stress tires, so check pressure each morning. Pro tip: avoid Highway 41 southbound on Sunday afternoons in summer when Yosemite traffic stacks up near Coarsegold.
quickmap.dot.ca.gov/What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Bonadelle Ranchos?

Private parks like The Lakes RV and Golf Resort and Yosemite RV Resort offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools. Millerton Lake State Recreation Area has electric and water at many sites plus a centralized dump station. Most Sierra National Forest campgrounds (Bass Lake area) are dry sites with vault toilets and potable water spigots, no hookups. Pro tip: the Pilot Travel Center in Madera (about 12 miles away) has a public dump station and potable water fill, perfect for topping off mid-trip without paying campground day-use fees.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=587What's actually inside the RV? Beds, kitchen, bathroom, Wi-Fi?

Expect a real bed (queen-size in most Class C motorhomes, often a king in Class A), a kitchen with fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, and sink, plus a full bathroom with toilet and shower. Many listings include a TV, generator, outdoor speakers, and roof-mounted air conditioning, essential for Central Valley summers. Wi-Fi varies: some hosts include a mobile hotspot, others leave you to use your phone. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities list and message the host if Wi-Fi or a backup generator is a must-have for your family RV trip Bonadelle Ranchos.
nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/rvs.htmWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect when I rent a motorhome rental in Bonadelle Ranchos?
Hosts offering motorhome rental Bonadelle Ranchos commonly provide useful add-ons: bedding and linen packages, full kitchen kits, camping chairs and tables, generators, propane refills, bike racks, and even pre-stocked firewood. Fees are clearly listed on each listing, no surprises. Pickup usually happens at the host's home in Bonadelle Ranchos or nearby Madera Ranchos, and many hosts offer delivery to your campground for an extra fee. Mileage policies vary: most include 100 to 150 free miles per day, while some campervan rental Bonadelle Ranchos listings advertise unlimited mileage, perfect for big loop trips. Pro tip: bundle the linen kit and kitchen kit on your first booking, it saves a trip to Target before you head out.
maderacounty.com/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is smooth and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps everything documented and protected. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (the amount is shown clearly on the listing), and it is released back after the host confirms the RV came home in good shape. To avoid hiccups, do a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff with your host, refill the fuel and propane back to starting levels, and dump the tanks if your agreement requires it. Pro tip: keep receipts for fuel, propane, and dump fees in case any question comes up after the trip.
