Campgrounds and RV parks near Brisbane, CA

Day trips fan out in every direction. Downtown San Francisco, Fisherman's Wharf, and the Ferry Building sit about 10 miles north, with BART and Caltrain stations nearby for car-free access. Golden Gate Park, the Presidio, and Alcatraz ferries are short drives from a bayside basecamp. South of town, San Bruno Mountain State Park has hiking trails with bay and ocean views directly above Brisbane. Coastal trips reach Pacifica's pier and surf beaches, Mavericks at Pillar Point Harbor, and the long sandy beach at Half Moon Bay State Beach. Whale watching, tide-pooling at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, and the Coastside Trail are popular on the ocean side. Giants baseball at Oracle Park, the California Academy of Sciences, and the Exploratorium suit families with kids.

The Bay Area climate is mild year-round, but conditions vary sharply by season and by which side of the peninsula a camper is on. Summer brings the heaviest fog along the coast and into San Francisco itself, with cool mornings, gray skies, and afternoon clearing inland. Coastal campgrounds at Half Moon Bay and Pacifica often run 10 to 15 degrees cooler than inland sites on the same day. June through August is peak booking season, and reservations for popular state-run sites should be made months out. September and October are typically the warmest and clearest months, with the lowest fog frequency and reliably dry weather. This shoulder window is the best time for clear bay views and coast walking. November through March is the wet season. Most rainfall arrives in this window, and Pacific storms can bring wind, surf advisories, and occasional flooding along Highway 1. Campgrounds stay open year-round in this area, but coastal sites can feel exposed during winter storms.

Most RV parks close to Brisbane are urban or near-urban properties rather than nature campgrounds. Expect paved or gravel pads, tight spacing, full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, and laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi as standard amenities. Big-rig access is generally good at Candlestick RV Park, San Francisco RV Resort, and Pillar Point RV Park, with a maximum length around 40 feet at the coastal sites. Francis Beach and Campground - Half Moon Bay State Beach is a state-park style site with picnic tables and fire rings. More than half the campsites have electric hookups, but there are no water or sewer hookups at the pads. A dump station and potable water fill are on site. Coastal sites are exposed and often windy, especially in summer afternoons. Pack layers year-round, since coastal fog and onshore wind keep evenings cool even when inland areas feel warm.
