Campgrounds and RV parks near Dogtown, CA

Dogtown is a small census-designated place in San Joaquin County, California, sitting at low elevation in the Central Valley between Lodi and Galt. The surrounding area is flat farmland and wine country, so most RV campgrounds within easy driving range are clustered around the Sierra Nevada foothill reservoirs to the east, primarily Lake Camanche in Amador and Calaveras counties. Lake Camanche Recreation Area is the dominant destination for RV travelers in this region. It is a large EBMUD-managed reservoir with two developed shore areas and several distinct campgrounds, including Lake Camanche - North - EBMUD and Lake Camanche North Shore on the north side, plus Miners Camps RV Park and Monument RV Park on the south side. Full-hookup RV sites with 30 and 50 amp service are concentrated at the South Shore, while the North Shore is limited to tent camping and self-contained RVs with no hookups. The reservoir offers 54 miles of shoreline, 7,700 surface acres of water, year-round fishing, and direct lake access from many sites.

Lake Camanche campgrounds, including Lake Camanche - North - EBMUD, Lake Camanche North Shore, Miners Camps RV Park, and Monument RV Park, are managed by Camanche Recreation Company rather than ReserveCalifornia. Reservations are taken online through the official Lake Camanche website or by phone on the reservation line, and bookings can be made up to a year in advance from the planned departure date. Summer weekends and the July 4 holiday should be booked as early as possible. When reserving, specify whether the site needs full hookups, 30 versus 50 amp service, or is tent-only, and confirm RV length and slide-out clearance. RVs staying within Monument and Miners Camp must be self-contained, and the same applies at North Shore. Camping permits must be displayed in the vehicle and at the campsite number marker on arrival.
