Campgrounds and RV parks near Florin, CA

The American River Parkway is the headline outdoor draw, with paved trails for cycling, walking, and jogging that connect Sacramento east toward Folsom Lake. Cal Expo RV Park ties directly into that path system, making it a practical base for families with bikes. The Sacramento River corridor, accessible from Sherwood Harbor Marina and RV Park, opens up fishing, paddling, and powerboat outings, and the marina offers boat slips alongside the RV sites. In the city, Old Sacramento Waterfront, the California State Railroad Museum, and the State Capitol grounds are common day-trip stops. The California State Fair runs at Cal Expo in summer and draws heavy RV traffic. Day drives reach Apple Hill orchards, the Gold Country towns along Highway 49, and Lake Tahoe within roughly two hours.

Sacramento has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and a cool, wet winter season. Summers are virtually cloudless with warm, dry days and mild nights, which makes June through September the most predictable stretch for RV travel, though afternoon highs frequently push into the 90s and triple digits are common in July and August. Travelers with kids or pets should plan for shaded sites, full-hookup electrical for air conditioning, and early-morning activities. Fall cools quickly through October and brings tule fog risk by late November. Winter is the rainy season: from November through February, over half the total annual precipitation falls, with measurable rain on roughly ten days each month. River-adjacent parks can see high water during heavy storm cycles, and overnight lows occasionally dip to freezing in December and January. Spring is the shoulder window, with wildflowers in the foothills, lower crowds, and mild daytime temperatures before the summer heat sets in.

Expect urban and suburban park layouts rather than wilderness camping. Cal Expo RV Park operates year-round with full hookups for rigs up to 45 feet on concrete and gravel pull-throughs, restrooms, showers, and laundry, plus a night security patrol; the layout is open and parking-lot style, with limited shade and audible traffic noise at night. Sherwood Harbor Marina and RV Park has grassy riverside sites under mature cottonwoods, a small store, and clean showers and laundry, but the access road is steep and tight for longer rigs. Cell service is strong across the metro area, propane and groceries are easy to find, and dump stations are standard at the larger parks. Summer heat makes 30- or 50-amp electrical service a practical requirement, not a luxury.
