Highway 180 climbs from Sanger directly into Kings Canyon National Park, where Grant Grove holds the General Grant Tree and trails lead through giant sequoias and meadows. Sequoia National Park, including the General Sherman Tree and the Giant Forest, is reachable on a day trip from valley campgrounds. During summer, the Big Trees Transit shuttle runs from Fresno and Sanger to Grant Grove Village, with the fare including park entrance fees. Closer to town, the Kings River supports fishing, paddling, and swimming through the warmer months, and several local RV parks have river frontage. The Sanger area is surrounded by Fresno County's Blossom Trail farms and wineries.
