Campgrounds near Oakhurst
Oakhurst sits in Monmouth County, minutes from the Jersey Shore and within easy RV-driving range of several public and private campgrounds. The closest state-run option is Allaire State Park in Farmingdale, a wooded park along the Manasquan River known for its historic 19th-century ironworks village. Monmouth County also operates Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold Township, a 2,261-acre wooded park built around a 17-acre lake and designed with campers in mind.
Private resorts fill in the rest of the map. Tip Tam Camping Resort in Jackson caters to families with full-hookup RV sites, cabins, two pools, and organized activities. Pine Cone Campgrounds and Butterfly Camping Resort round out the nearby options, giving renters a choice between quieter public sites and amenity-heavy private parks.

The camping calendar in this part of New Jersey is tightly seasonal. Allaire State Park's group campsites operate from April 1 through December 15, and its trailer sanitary station typically runs from April 15 through October 31. The family campsites and shelters are currently closed for a bathroom and shower facility construction project, so RV renters should confirm status with the park office before planning a trip. Turkey Swamp Park's family campground runs from April 1 through November 15, with water service available approximately from mid-April to mid-November.
Private parks compress the season further. Tip Tam Camping Resort operates from April 1 through October 31, so late-fall and winter RV trips need to be planned around the handful of year-round options in the region.
Summer is peak. Shore traffic, beach crowds, and school-vacation demand push both public and private campgrounds toward full weekends, especially around the July 4th and Labor Day holidays. Spring and early fall bring cooler nights, thinner crowds, and easier last-minute availability.

Jacek was amazing with communication and having the advantages being able to have the RV delivered and set up was amazing. I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself. The camper was super clean, and comfortable. We had a great time.

Marc, the owner, and the RV went way beyond my expectations! Marc is super knowledgeable and helpful. The RV had every amenity you could want, was so easy to drive, and very well maintained. Prior to pick up date Marc sent me documentary and video informational instructions that were extremely useful. Marc was always available for any questions whether before or during our trip. We rented the RV for 13 days and traveled pretty far. I have no doubt that because the RV was so comfortable inconvenience. Our trip was effortless. I would definitely rent with Marc again and can’t wait for our next trip!
