Six Flags Great Adventure and iPlay America are within short driving distance. At Floyd Bennett Field, campers get hiking, biking, kayaking access to Jamaica Bay, and ranger-led programs during summer.

Most sites near Oceanport are wooded and reasonably level. Turkey Swamp Park's 64 pull-through campsites accommodate both tent campers and travel trailers, with 52 reservable and 12 first-come first-served, all sites carrying water and electric hookups and holding up to 6 people, plus a self-serve dump station for registered campers and restrooms with hot showers and laundry. At Allaire, RVs should aim for the open sites because the road to the partial and full shade campsites is narrow and wooded, making access difficult for even small campers. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, and an RV dump station open mid-April to mid-October, and each site has a table, fire ring, and grate for tents, trailers, and RVs. At Floyd Bennett Field, both tent campers and RVs are welcome, RV sites have no hookups but a dump station is available.
