Campgrounds and RV parks near Stamford, NY

Stamford sits in Delaware County in the western Catskills of New York, at roughly 1,800 feet of elevation along Routes 23 and 10. The village calls itself the Queen of the Catskills and is located partly in the Town of Stamford and partly in the Town of Harpersfield. The area is rural, hilly, and heavily forested, which shapes what campgrounds look like: small private parks along creeks and lakes, plus larger destination campgrounds a short drive away. Closest to town are Little Lake Campground and Stratton Falls Campground, both family-run parks in the surrounding Delaware County hills. Nickerson Park Campground sits nearby along the West Branch Delaware River corridor, and Country Roads Campgrounds offers additional private sites in the same rural belt. For a larger, amenity-heavy stop, Catskill Mountains/Gilboa KOA is roughly a half-hour drive north. RV travelers use Stamford as a base for the Catskill Scenic Trail, Mount Utsayantha, and day trips to Cooperstown, Oneonta, and the northern Catskill high peaks.

Private campgrounds handle their own reservations. Little Lake Campground, Stratton Falls Campground, Nickerson Park Campground, and Country Roads Campgrounds each take bookings by phone or through their own websites, with deposits typically required at the time of reservation. Summer weekends and holiday windows fill first, so booking eight to twelve weeks ahead is realistic for July and August. Catskill Mountains/Gilboa KOA books through the KOA reservation system, online or by phone. Check-in is 2:00 pm and check-out is 11:00 am. For state land camping, New York DEC campgrounds in the broader Catskill region use ReserveAmerica and open a rolling nine-month booking window.
