Campgrounds and RV parks near Adamstown, PA

Adamstown sits in northern Lancaster County, in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, straddling the Lancaster and Berks county line about an hour west of Philadelphia and an hour east of Harrisburg. The area is easily reached from regional hubs like Harrisburg, Reading, and Philadelphia via the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Route 222. The town is widely known as an antiques destination, and the surrounding farmland, covered bridges, and Amish and Mennonite communities give it a distinct rural character. Campgrounds within a short drive lean toward family-focused private parks with pools, cabins, and full-hookup RV sites rather than backcountry public land. Dutch Cousin Campground bills itself as the oldest operating campground in Lancaster County, and other family parks nearby include Shady Grove Campground, Sills Campgrounds, Red Run Campground, and Woodcrest Retreat. For state-park camping, French Creek State Park in Elverson is the closest major public option, roughly 30 minutes east of Adamstown. Between the private parks near town and French Creek to the east, RV renters have a solid mix of amenity-heavy and quieter, wooded stays to choose from.

Private parks around Adamstown, including Shady Grove Campground, Sills Campgrounds, Dutch Cousin Campground, Red Run Campground, and Woodcrest Retreat, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and October fall-festival weekends fill earliest, so booking several months out is smart for holiday and themed-event weekends. For public land, French Creek State Park uses the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system. Campsite reservations open 11 months in advance, and all sites must be reserved a minimum of three days in advance, with campsites booking up fast during peak season and on holiday weekends. Reservations can be made online or by calling toll-free 888-PA-PARKS (888-727-2757), from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday to Saturday. Check each private park's cancellation policy at booking, especially for seasonal, multi-night, or holiday reservations, which often carry stricter change rules.
