Camping near Annville, Pennsylvania
Annville sits in the Lebanon Valley of south-central Pennsylvania, roughly midway between Hershey and Lebanon and within easy reach of Lancaster County. The town works well as an RV base for families visiting Hersheypark, exploring Pennsylvania Dutch farm country, or touring the Fort Indiantown Gap area. Most campgrounds cluster along the corridor between Hershey and Lebanon, with additional options south into Lancaster County.
Private RV resorts dominate the immediate area. Hershey RV and Camping Resort and Hershey Road Campground are the closest options to the Hershey attractions, while Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA Journey sits just off Interstate 81 to the northeast. PA Dutch Country RV Resort and Pinch Pond Family Campground fall on the Lancaster County side and cater to visitors combining Amish-country day trips with Hershey visits.
Sites tend to be developed rather than primitive, with electric, water, and sewer hookups, pools, and family amenities standard at the larger parks. State-park camping in the region requires a longer drive but adds lake access and wooded settings.
Things to do near Annville
Hersheypark anchors most family itineraries, with roller coasters, a water park, and ZooAmerica about fifteen minutes west. Indian Echo Caverns in Hummelstown offers guided limestone-cave tours that work well on hot or rainy afternoons. The Pennsylvania National Guard Military Museum at Fort Indiantown Gap, just north of Annville, is free and easy to combine with a scenic drive through the Blue Mountain ridge.
Lancaster County sits thirty to forty minutes south and delivers Amish farm tours, Strasburg Rail Road, and outlet shopping in Lancaster. Closer to camp, the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail links Lebanon to Cornwall and Mount Gretna for cycling and walking.
Water recreation is limited near town. Memorial Lake State Park at Fort Indiantown Gap allows non-powered and electric-motor boating and fishing, and Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area draws birdwatchers, especially during the late-winter snow-goose migration.

The core camping season in the Lebanon Valley runs from mid-April through October. Most private campgrounds in this region operate on that schedule, with several offering extended-season sites for self-contained rigs. Spring brings unpredictable weather, with warm afternoons possible in April but frost still likely overnight into early May.
Summer is peak season. School-holiday weeks and any dates tied to Hersheypark fill first, so private resorts like Hershey RV and Camping Resort and PA Dutch Country RV Resort commonly sell out weekends by late spring. Humidity climbs in July and August, and afternoon thunderstorms are common.
Fall is the strongest shoulder season. September and early October deliver warm days, cool nights, lower humidity, and foliage color across the ridges north of town. Hersheypark shifts to weekend-only Halloween operations, which can push weekend campground demand higher than typical fall levels. Winter closes most private parks, though a handful keep limited full-hookup sites open for self-contained rigs.

How to book campgrounds near Annville
Private campgrounds in the area, including Hershey RV and Camping Resort, Pinch Pond Family Campground, PA Dutch Country RV Resort, Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA Journey, and Hershey Road Campground, take reservations directly through their own websites or, where applicable, the KOA booking system. For summer weekends and any Hersheypark-adjacent dates, booking three to six months out is advisable, and holiday weeks often require booking as soon as the calendar opens.
State-park sites in the broader region use a different system. Most campsites in Pennsylvania state parks can be reserved 11 months in advance to noon of the day of arrival. Pennsylvania opens reservations 11 months in advance at 12:00 PM (noon) Eastern Time, and the noon release time is unusual among state park systems. Bookings run through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation portal or by phone at 888-PA-PARKS.
What to expect on the ground
Expect developed, family-oriented RV parks rather than remote or primitive camping. Pools, playgrounds, camp stores, laundry, and organized weekend activities are typical at the larger resorts. Sites near Hershey are usually level and pull-through friendly, though tree cover varies, so travelers relying on rooftop solar or satellite should ask about shade when booking.
Cell coverage is generally strong across Lebanon and Lancaster counties on all major carriers. Grocery stores, propane, dump stations, and RV service are easy to find in Palmyra, Hershey, Lebanon, and Jonestown.
Traffic is the main planning issue. Route 322 between Hershey and Harrisburg backs up on summer weekend afternoons, and Hersheypark exit areas can be slow at park opening and closing. Arriving mid-morning or after 7 p.m. usually avoids the worst of it.

How much does an RV rental in Annville, PA typically cost?
Good news: an RV rental in Annville is one of the more affordable ways to explore central Pennsylvania. Travel trailers generally start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes can range from $250 to $400+ per night. Pricing depends on the RV's age, size, and season. Looking for a cheap RV rental in Annville? Booking 6 to 8 weeks in advance for summer trips gives you the best selection and pricing. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book to lock in same-day confirmation.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Annville%2C%20PennsylvaniaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Annville, PA?
Great news for first-timers: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Annville, PA. Pennsylvania does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for motorhomes or travel trailers used recreationally, regardless of size. You'll need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and ID verification is handled quickly through the platform during checkout. Visiting from another country? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), which most auto associations issue for under $25. That's it. No road tests, no extra paperwork, just pack and go.
pa.gov/agencies/dmv/driver-services.htmlIs my RV rental in Annville protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Annville booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road with confidence. You'll choose your coverage level at checkout, with options that adjust your deductible and included benefits to match how much extra cushion you want. The plan helps cover accidental damage to the RV during your trip, removing much of the financial stress that usually comes with renting a large vehicle. Combined with your host's pickup walkthrough, this is one big reason first-time renters feel comfortable booking a motorhome rental in Annville.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if my plans change? Can I cancel my Annville RV rental?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy uses a clear, platform-wide cancellation policy with a full money-back grace period right after you book, giving you time to confirm campground reservations or coordinate time off before fully committing. After that window, the refund amount depends on how far out you cancel from your trip start date. Because the cancellation policy is set by RVezy and not by individual hosts, the experience is consistent no matter which Annville listing you choose. You'll see the exact policy applied to your booking at checkout and in your confirmation.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an Annville RV trip?
Absolutely, lots of hosts welcome four-legged co-pilots. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when browsing pet-friendly RV rental Annville options to see listings that allow dogs (some welcome cats too). Hosts may charge a small pet cleaning fee, which you'll see upfront on the listing. Once you're on the road, the area is loaded with dog-friendly spots: Memorial Lake State Park has leash-friendly trails just 5 miles from town, Swatara State Park's 30 miles of rail-trail are perfect for long walks, and the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail runs right through Annville. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl. Summer humidity in Lebanon County climbs fast, and shaded trail breaks keep pups happy.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/memorial-lake-state-park.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Annville?
Yes, RV delivery is one of the most popular options for an RV rental in Annville, and it's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. Many hosts will drive the RV to your chosen campground (Hersheypark Camping Resort, Hershey Conewago/Hersheypark KOA, and Thousand Trails Hershey are common drop-offs), level it, hook up water, sewer, and electric, then walk you through every system before handing over the keys. That means no towing stress, no backing into a tight site, and no figuring out the awning on your own. Delivery fees vary by distance, typically a flat fee plus a per-mile rate, and you'll see the total on the listing. Just message the host to confirm your campground address.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Annville%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow far can I drive on my Annville RV rental?
You've got plenty of range. Most Annville hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, especially for stationary or short-radius trips. Extra miles typically run $0.30 to $0.50 each. To put that in perspective: Hersheypark is just 17 miles away, Lancaster's Amish Country is about 30 miles, Gettysburg is 55 miles, Philadelphia is 95 miles, and the Pocono Mountains are roughly 90 miles north. Even a weeklong loop through these spots usually stays inside an unlimited package or a 700-mile bundle. Pro tip: if you're parking the RV at one campground and exploring by car, choose the lowest-mileage package, you'll save real money.
penndot.pa.gov/Pages/default.aspxWhere can I camp with an RV near Annville, PA?
You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Annville include Hersheypark Camping Resort (about 12 miles west, full hookups plus park shuttle), Hershey Conewago/Hersheypark KOA (north of town, pool and dog park), Thousand Trails Hershey in Lebanon (full-service resort sites), Pinch Pond Family Campground in Manheim (great for kids, with a fishing pond), and Memorial Lake State Park just 5 miles east at Fort Indiantown Gap for a quieter, lakeside experience. For RV camping in Annville with a state-park vibe, Swatara State Park offers primitive options about 14 miles north. Pro tip: book Hershey-area sites 3 to 4 months ahead for July and August weekends, as they sell out fast.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/memorial-lake-state-park.htmlWhen is the best time for an Annville RV trip?
Late April through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping in Annville. Spring (April to May) brings 55 to 70°F days and blooming Lebanon Valley farmland. Summer (June to August) is the peak season for an Annville RV trip with 75 to 87°F days and full Hersheypark operations, though humidity climbs and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Fall (mid-September to late October) is the local insider's pick: 60 to 75°F days, crisp nights, and brilliant foliage along the Appalachian ridges. Winters dip into the 20s and 30s with occasional snow, so most area campgrounds close from November through March. Pro tip: target the last two weeks of September for the perfect balance of weather, lower rates, and open campgrounds.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay in Annville?
You're going to be great. First time renting an RV is more common than you'd think, and Annville is an easy place to start. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you exactly how to operate the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dump valves. You'll leave with photos, videos, or a printed cheat sheet, plus your host's phone number for any questions during the trip. If you're nervous about driving, choose a Class B campervan or smaller Class C (under 25 feet) that handles much like a large SUV. Better yet, pick a host who offers delivery so you skip driving entirely. Confidence boost: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with your protection plan.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I have a breakdown or flat tire near Annville?
You're never alone on the road. Every RVezy booking in Annville includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing. One quick call gets help dispatched, often from a nearby provider in Lebanon, Hershey, or Harrisburg, which all have RV service options within a short drive. Your host is also a phone call or message away for quick how-does-this-work questions (think: resetting the GFCI or relighting the water heater). Most issues are minor and solved fast. Pro tip: snap photos of all gauges and the dashboard at pickup so any concerns are easy to flag and document.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Annville RV rental to other states or into Canada?
Yes, multi-state RV road trips from Annville are absolutely allowed and very popular. Annville sits right in the middle of the I-78/I-81 corridor, so the Atlantic coast, New England, Virginia, and the Great Lakes are all within easy reach. Favorite multi-state routes include the Pocono Mountains, Niagara Falls (about 5.5 hours north), Washington D.C. (about 2.5 hours south), and Acadia National Park in Maine for the ambitious. Travel into Canada may be permitted depending on the host and the insurance policy on the specific RV, so message the host before booking to confirm. One firm rule across the platform: travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel for your RV rental in Pennsylvania is straightforward. Class B campervans get around 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes range 6 to 10 MPG. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves, but your tow vehicle's mileage drops 30 to 40% while pulling. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run close to the national average, and you'll find plenty of large-vehicle-friendly stations along US-422 and I-81 near Annville (Pilot in Lebanon and Rutter's in Jonestown are easy in/out). Pro tip: download GasBuddy before your trip, and fill up before crossing into New Jersey if you're heading east since prices there often jump.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I reserve a campground near Annville?
For peak summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and any weekend tied to Hersheypark, book your campground 3 to 4 months in advance. Pennsylvania state park campgrounds (Memorial Lake, Swatara, and nearby French Creek) accept reservations through the official Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system, and prime sites in July and August often fill quickly after they become available. Private campgrounds like Hersheypark Camping Resort and Thousand Trails Hershey have their own booking sites and can often be reserved many months ahead. Shoulder seasons (May, September, October) are far more forgiving, often available 2 to 3 weeks out. Pro tip: if you can't find a site, check Hipcamp for private-land options just outside Lebanon County.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the driving conditions like around Annville?
Driving in and out of Annville is genuinely easy, even in a larger motorhome. The main routes (US-422, PA-934, and I-81 just to the north) are wide, well-maintained, and have plenty of room for big rigs. The terrain is gently rolling Lebanon Valley farmland with no mountain passes nearby, so you won't face steep grades or hairpin turns. Watch for two things: low-clearance covered bridges in parts of Lebanon and Lancaster counties (clearly signed, easy to avoid) and Amish horse-and-buggy traffic on rural roads, especially near Myerstown and on Sundays, so slow down and pass with extra space. Winter can bring snow and ice from December through February. Pro tip: avoid US-322 through Hershey during weekday rush hours.
511pa.com/What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Annville?
Local campgrounds near Annville are well-equipped for a comfortable trip. Most full-service sites at Hersheypark Camping Resort, Jonestown/Hershey NE KOA, and Thousand Trails Hershey offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer hookups, free Wi-Fi (varies by site), laundry, pools, and clean bathhouses. Memorial Lake State Park and Swatara State Park provide more rustic experiences with non-electric or limited-hookup sites and modern restrooms. Need to dump tanks or refill fresh water mid-trip? Hersheypark Camping Resort and most KOAs allow non-guest dump access for a small fee (typically $15 to $25), and Flying J in Carlisle (about 25 miles west on I-81) has a full RV service lane. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose, some Pennsylvania sites have spread-out hookups.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/memorial-lake-state-park.htmlWhat's inside the RV I'm renting? Beds, kitchen, bathroom?
You'll be surprised how loaded these rigs are. A typical RV rental in Annville comes fully equipped: real beds (queen or king in the master, plus convertible dinettes and bunks depending on layout), a kitchen with a fridge/freezer, microwave, propane stovetop, oven, sink, and basic cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (roof AC plus furnace), a TV with DVD or streaming, and many include a generator for off-grid power. Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include a mobile hotspot. Seatbelts are provided for the rated number of travelers (always check the listing's seatbelt count if you're a larger group). Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm sheets, towels, and kitchen kits are included, many provide these for free.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for Annville rentals?
Hosts in Annville offer a great mix of add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include linen and towel packages ($25 to $50), kitchen kits, camp chairs and outdoor mats, propane tank refills, generator-hour bundles, portable fire pits, bike racks, and pet packages. Many hosts also offer delivery and setup, which is perfect if you're flying into Harrisburg International Airport (MDT, about 25 minutes away) or you'd rather skip driving entirely. Pickup logistics are flexible: meet at the host's location, arrange airport delivery, or have the RV dropped at your campground. Mileage policies vary by listing (typically 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extras around $0.35/mile). Pro tip: every add-on shows on the listing, no surprise fees at checkout.
flyhia.com/How do payments and the security deposit work for an Annville RV rental?
Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card at the time of booking, never directly to the host, which keeps everything documented and protected. A refundable security deposit (typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV) is held separately from your booking payment and is only used if there's damage or a policy violation at return. To avoid any deposit issues: do a thorough walkthrough video at pickup and drop-off, respect the mileage and generator-hour limits, return the RV with the agreed fuel level, and empty the holding tanks at a dump station before bringing it back. Easy.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best road trip destinations from Annville?
An RV road trip from Annville puts an incredible variety of destinations within easy reach. Top picks: Hersheypark and Chocolate World (17 miles, perfect day one), Lancaster's Amish Country with Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse markets (30 miles south), Gettysburg National Military Park (55 miles southwest, 90-minute drive), the Pocono Mountains for lakes and waterfalls (90 miles northeast), Philadelphia's Independence Hall and museums (95 miles east), and the Susquehanna River towns around Harrisburg (25 miles west). For a longer family RV trip Annville loop, add Washington D.C. (130 miles south) or Niagara Falls (300 miles northwest). Pro tip: a 5-night Hershey-Lancaster-Gettysburg loop is the classic first-timer route, about 150 total miles of easy, scenic driving.
