Campgrounds and RV parks near Bainbridge, PA

The Northwest Lancaster County River Trail runs along the Susquehanna for about 14 miles between Falmouth and Columbia, passing through Bainbridge itself, and works well for cycling, walking, and stroller-friendly outings on a mostly paved surface. River access points support kayaking, stand-up paddling, and fishing for catfish, smallmouth bass, and walleye. Hershey sits roughly 15 minutes east and anchors most family itineraries. Hersheypark operates coasters and a water park in summer, with Hersheypark Christmas Candylane running on select dates from mid-November into early January. ZooAmerica, Hershey Gardens, and Hershey's Chocolate World round out the in-town options. Historic Lancaster, Gettysburg, and the state capital in Harrisburg are all reachable as day trips.

The Bainbridge area has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are warm and humid with July highs typically in the mid-80s Fahrenheit, and winters are cold with regular freezes, occasional snow, and shortened daylight. Rain is spread across the year, with the wettest stretch running from late spring into early fall. Peak camping season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Hersheypark Camping Resort's outdoor pool operates daily from late May through Labor Day, and the park's summer daily schedule drives heavy bookings at nearby campgrounds. Spring weekends in April and early May align with Hersheypark's springtime weekend operating schedule and are quieter but cooler. Shoulder seasons in September and October offer mild temperatures and fall color along the river. Winter camping is limited: some parks close, and at Hersheypark Camping Resort, water service is shut off once temperatures drop to 30F or below for three consecutive days, running through April 1, though the Historic Landis Barn bath house and 2-Bedroom Deluxe Cabins keep water year-round.

Sites near Bainbridge range from primitive tent-only spots along the river to full hook-up RV pads with cable at the larger resorts. Bainbridge Rock Quarry Campground is a smaller property with roughly 60 sites, accepts big rigs, has pull-thrus, and is open year-round. Hersheypark Camping Resort is the largest option, with restroom and shower facilities in the Historic Landis Barn, self-service laundry, a country store, an outdoor pool in season, and a shuttle to Hersheypark during the park's operating season. Expect train noise at riverfront sites and at Hersheypark Camping Resort, as active freight lines run nearby. Cell coverage is generally reliable across the area. Grocery, fuel, and dump stations are easy to find along Route 441 and Route 743 into Hershey and Elizabethtown.
