Camping near Blandon, Pennsylvania
Blandon is a small community in Berks County, Pennsylvania, roughly ten miles northeast of Reading and about a half-hour drive from Allentown. The area sits between the rolling farmland of Pennsylvania Dutch Country and the Blue Mountain ridge of the Kittatinny range, which puts a mix of private campgrounds and public recreation land within easy reach of an RV traveler.
Closest to town, Sacony Park Campgrounds, Robin Hill RV Resort and Campground, Pine Hill RV Park, and Blue Rocks Family Campground cluster around Kutztown and Lenhartsville, generally within a fifteen to twenty minute drive. Mountain Springs Camping Rsrt extends the search a little farther out for travelers looking for a larger resort-style property.
Berks County also borders French Creek State Park to the south and the Appalachian Trail to the north, so many campers use a base near Blandon to reach hiking, boating, and historic sites within an hour's drive.
Things to do around Blandon
Hiking is the standout activity. The Pinnacle, a well-known lookout on the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania, sits near the Blue Rocks boulder field north of town, and trails leaving Blue Rocks Family Campground connect directly into that ridge system, with Pulpit Rock also accessible on foot. Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, a well-known raptor migration site, is a short drive away and draws heavy visitation each fall.
For day trips, French Creek State Park covers a large tract of forested hills with two lakes, mountain biking, and fishing, and Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site sits inside its boundary. Families also use Blandon as a base for Hersheypark, Cabela's on Route 61, and Kutztown's Pennsylvania Dutch heritage sites.

- summer
June - August
82° / 63°F 95 mmHot and humid; peak bookings, thunderstorms frequent.

63° / 45°F 85 mmFoliage peaks in October; weekends book out early.
- winter
December - February
39° / 23°F 68 mmCold and snowy; most private campgrounds closed.
Most private campgrounds in the Blandon area run a full spring-through-fall season, with many operating from April into late October or early November. Blue Rocks Family Campground, for example, treats late May through the beginning of November as its peak season, with a quieter shoulder season on either side. Travelers planning shoulder-season trips should confirm hookup availability with each park, since water lines are typically drained before hard freezes.
Summer is the peak booking window. Weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day fill quickly at family-focused parks with pools and activity programs, and July and August bring warm, humid weather with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. October is a second peak: fall foliage in the Blue Mountain ridge is a major draw, and campgrounds in eastern Pennsylvania report heavy October weekend demand.
Winter camping options are limited near Blandon. Snow, ice, and cold nights close most private campgrounds, and hikers venturing onto the Appalachian Trail in this stretch need cold-weather gear.

Great weekend getaway!
Kami A. - Nov 2024
Great vehicle and friendly owners. This compact camper has a lot of creature comforts while allowing one to maneuver and park in regular parking lots. The van is really easy to drive and handles really nice. The beds were comfortable and IMO accommodate 2 adults (top bed) and 1 adult or 2 kids in the lower bed. We were able to use the bike rack, too, and that worked great for a road bike and mountain bike (I think 2 mountain bikes might not fit unless the handle bars were turned on 1 of them). We didn't use the, generator, heater, hot water, shower, sink, microwave or toilet so I can't comment on them but I wish we rented it longer so we could've taken advantage of all this van has to offer. We would absolutely rent again.

How to book campgrounds near Blandon
Private campgrounds around Blandon, including Sacony Park Campgrounds, Blue Rocks Family Campground, Robin Hill RV Resort and Campground, Pine Hill RV Park, and Mountain Springs Camping Rsrt, take reservations directly through their own websites, by phone, or in some cases through third-party booking platforms such as Campspot. Full-hookup sites are limited at some of these parks, so requesting a specific site type at booking is worth the effort.
For state park camping in the wider region, Pennsylvania's DCNR uses a single reservation system at visitPAparks.com or 888-PA-PARKS. Most campsites can be reserved up to 11 months in advance, to noon of the day of arrival, with new inventory released at noon Eastern Time. Popular parks in eastern Pennsylvania fill quickly for summer weekends and October foliage weekends, so booking near the 11-month mark is common practice.
What to expect on the ground
The terrain around Blandon is hilly rather than flat. Blue Rocks Family Campground, for instance, sits on the side of a mountain, and reviewers note that some sites are tight or best suited to shorter rigs, with only a limited number of full-hookup sites outside the seasonal section. RV travelers should ask about site length, levelness, and hookups before confirming.
Most private parks in the area lean family-oriented, with pools, playgrounds, weekend activities, and camp stores. Cell service and Wi-Fi quality vary widely by campground. Dietrich's Meats, roadside farm stands, and Kutztown's small-town restaurants are within easy reach for supplies.
Bring bug spray for summer, layers for shoulder seasons, and firewood purchased locally. Pennsylvania encourages campers to buy firewood near the campground to avoid spreading pest insects and tree diseases.

They'll level the RV, hook up water and electric, and give you a full walkthrough before they leave. Use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host with your campsite number and arrival date. Robin Hill Camping Resort in Lenhartsville offers full hookups, a pool, and easy Appalachian Trail access. French Creek State Park in Elverson has 200 wooded sites with electric next to Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. Pine Hill RV Park in Kutztown is a quick hop from Crystal Cave. Pro tip: book French Creek about three months out through the Pennsylvania state park reservation system for summer weekends.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsites.htmlWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Blandon, PA?
Late April through October is prime time for RV camping Blandon, with each season offering its own appeal. Spring (April through May) brings 55 to 70 degree days, wildflowers, and shoulder-season pricing. Summer (June through August) is the warm, busy peak, expect 80 to 88 degrees, perfect for swimming at Blue Marsh Lake, but book campgrounds early. September and October are arguably the sweetest months: crisp 50 to 75 degree days, the Kutztown Fall Festival, and stunning foliage across the Hawk Mountain ridges. Winters in Berks County dip into the 20s and 30s with occasional snow, so most private campgrounds close, though French Creek State Park stays open year-round for hardy adventurers.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Blandon a good place to start?
Blandon is actually a great spot for first time renting an RV. The roads around Berks County are mostly gentle two-lane country highways like Route 222, Route 73, and Old Route 22, with wide shoulders and slow rural traffic, much friendlier than navigating Philadelphia or the Schuylkill Expressway. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, hookups, slide-outs, and the dump station before you leave. You can also message them throughout your trip with questions. If you'd rather not drive at all, many hosts deliver to nearby campgrounds like Robin Hill or French Creek State Park. Pro tip: start with a Class C motorhome or small travel trailer, they handle a lot like a big van.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat happens if something breaks down during my Blandon RV trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so whether you've got a flat tire on I-78, a dead battery at a Cabela's parking lot in Hamburg, or a propane question at 11 p.m. at Blue Rocks Family Campground, one call dispatches help. For non-emergency questions (how does the awning work? why is the fridge beeping?), message your host directly through the RVezy app, they know their RV inside and out and usually respond within minutes. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after your trip. That layered support is why so many first-timers feel confident booking an RV rental in Blandon.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trip destinations from Blandon, PA?
An RV road trip from Blandon puts some of the East Coast's most iconic stops within easy reach. Head 75 minutes south to Philadelphia for the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Drive about 2 hours west to Hersheypark and Chocolate World. The Pocono Mountains are roughly 2.5 hours northeast for waterfalls, lakes, and ski-country campgrounds. Lancaster County's Amish farmland is 50 minutes southwest, perfect for a slow-paced overnight. Want bigger adventure? Gettysburg National Military Park is about 2.5 hours west, the Jersey Shore is 2.5 hours east, and Shenandoah National Park is roughly 4 hours south. Cross-border into Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York is fine, but RVezy rentals can't be taken into Mexico, and Canada trips require host approval first.
visitpa.com/How much should I budget for fuel on a Blandon RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable in your RV budget, so it pays to plan ahead. Gas prices in Berks County typically run a bit lower than the Pennsylvania state average, often around $3.20 to $3.70 per gallon, with cheaper stations along Route 222 and Route 61 toward Hamburg. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans hit 18 to 22 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 15 MPG). For a 4-day, 400-mile loop from Blandon to French Creek, Lancaster, and back, budget roughly $130 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Pennsylvania before crossing into New Jersey, where you can't pump your own gas.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Blandon?
Earlier is better, especially for summer weekends. Pennsylvania state parks like French Creek take reservations up to 11 months in advance through the official Pennsylvania DCNR reservation system, and prime sites near Hopewell Lake disappear quickly for July and August. Private campgrounds like Robin Hill, Blue Rocks Family Campground, and Adventure Bound Eagles Peak typically open booking 6 to 12 months out, with the Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends filling first. For a stress-free Blandon RV trip, aim to book your campground 3 to 4 months ahead in summer and 4 to 6 weeks ahead in spring or fall. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Monday or Tuesday) almost always have openings, even last minute.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsites.htmlWhat are local driving conditions like around Blandon?
Driving an RV around Blandon is refreshingly manageable. The village sits on Route 222 in Berks County, with mostly flat to gently rolling terrain and well-maintained two-lane roads through farm country. Watch for low-clearance covered bridges in the surrounding countryside (most are marked under 10 feet, so route around them in anything taller than a campervan) and be alert for horse-drawn Amish buggies if you head into Lancaster County. Interstate 78 west of Hamburg has some steep grades climbing Blue Mountain. Winter brings occasional snow and ice from December through February. Pro tip: use a trucker GPS or the PennDOT 511PA app to avoid low bridges and weight-restricted roads, especially on country shortcuts.
511pa.com/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Blandon?
Campgrounds near Blandon are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Most private parks like Robin Hill, Adventure Bound Eagles Peak, and Pine Hill RV Park offer full-hookup sites with 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable TV, and Wi-Fi, plus pools, laundry, camp stores, and playgrounds. French Creek State Park has electric-only sites with modern restrooms, hot showers, a dump station near the campground entrance, and potable water fill-up spigots. Blue Rocks Family Campground includes a snack bar and hiking access to the Appalachian Trail. Pro tip: if your RV rental doesn't have a built-in fresh water tank top-up at home base, plan to fill at the campground's potable water station on arrival, and always use a dedicated white drinking-water hose.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsites.htmlWhat's included inside a typical Blandon RV rental?
Blandon RV rentals come ready for adventure. Most listings include a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, cookware, and dishes), a bathroom with toilet and shower, comfortable sleeping for 2 to 8 people depending on size, climate-controlled heat and air conditioning, and dinette seating with seatbelts for travel. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes often add a TV, DVD player, outdoor speakers, and an onboard generator for off-grid power. Many travel trailers and fifth wheels feature slide-outs that dramatically expand living space at the campsite. Wi-Fi varies by host, but cell service is strong across Berks County on all major carriers. Pro tip: review the listing's amenity list carefully, then message the host with any questions about linens, coffee makers, or kid gear before booking.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsites.htmlWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect with a campervan rental Blandon?
Campervan rental Blandon and motorhome listings on RVezy come with a friendly menu of optional add-ons that you choose à la carte during booking. Common extras include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), camping kitchen kits, outdoor chairs and tables, generators, propane fills, bike racks, kid bedding bundles, and pet packages. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Blandon, Fleetwood, Kutztown, or Reading, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough where they show you every system. Mileage policies are listed clearly on each listing, typically 100 to 150 free miles per night with reasonable per-mile fees beyond that, or unlimited mileage on select listings. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a linen package for a true grab-and-go trip.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsites.htmlHow do payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Pennsylvania?
Payment for any RV rental in Pennsylvania booked through RVezy is handled securely on the platform, no cash or side payments to the host. You'll pay the rental total (nightly rate, add-ons, taxes, and protection plan) when you book, and a refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup. The deposit amount is shown clearly on each listing before you confirm. As long as you return the RV in the same condition (clean, tanks dumped if required, fuel topped off per the host's policy), the hold is released after the trip. Pro tip: take time-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, it's the easiest way to keep everything smooth and stress-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I take my Blandon RV rental into other states or across the border?
Yes, exploring beyond Pennsylvania is one of the best parts of a Blandon RV trip. Most RVezy hosts welcome interstate travel throughout the lower 48, so road trips to New Jersey beaches, Delaware's Cape Henlopen, Maryland's Assateague Island, New York's Catskills, or Virginia's Shenandoah are all fair game, just confirm your route with the host before booking so mileage and coverage line up. Trips to Canada may be allowed with prior host approval and additional documentation. Travel to Mexico is not permitted because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: message the host with your full itinerary, that way you'll get specific tips on overnight stops and any state-specific quirks along your route.
