Campgrounds and RV parks near Blue Ridge Summit, PA

Blue Ridge Summit sits on the Pennsylvania-Maryland border at the northern end of the Catoctin Mountains, placing RV renters within a short drive of two federal and state park units plus the Gettysburg region. The area draws families combining forest camping with Civil War history, and most nearby campgrounds fall inside a 20-mile radius across two states. The closest developed site is Owens Creek Campground inside Catoctin Mountain Park, a National Park Service site near Thurmont, Maryland. Just south, Cunningham Falls State Park operates two separate campgrounds: Houck near the lake and waterfall, and Manor off Route 15. To the west, Granite Hill Campground and Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA Holiday sit in Adams County, Pennsylvania, closer to the battlefield. The mix ranges from primitive federal sites with no hookups to full-service private resorts with pools and cabins. RV renters should match the campground to rig size, since some park loops cap trailer length while private parks accept big rigs.

Reservation systems vary by campground, so plan by park before travel. Reservations are required to camp at Owens Creek Campground, walk-ups are no longer accepted, and reservations can be made up to six months in advance at Recreation.gov or by calling (877) 444-6777. Cunningham Falls uses Maryland's state system. Reservations are available up to a year in advance through parkreservations.maryland.gov or by calling 1-888-432-CAMP. Both the William Houck and Manor Area campgrounds often fill weeks or months in advance. Granite Hill Campground and Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA Holiday take direct online bookings through their own sites. For summer weekends and any date near a Gettysburg event, book as early as the calendar opens, then set a cancellation alert if the target site is full.
