Campgrounds near Cherryville, Pennsylvania
Cherryville sits in Lehigh County in eastern Pennsylvania, at the northern edge of the Lehigh Valley and just south of the Pocono Mountains. The village makes a practical base for RV travelers: Blue Mountain, Beltzville State Park, and historic Jim Thorpe are all within a short drive, and Lehigh Valley International Airport is roughly fifteen minutes away.
Most private campgrounds in this corridor cluster around Palmerton, Bath, and New Tripoli. Don Laine Campground in Palmerton is a family-owned park with wooded and open sites geared toward RVs and tents, plus a swimming pool, on-site store, snack bar, and playground, and over 100 seasonal sites. Pocono Point RV & Campground and Stoneybrook RV Resort sit north of Cherryville in the Lehighton and Jim Thorpe area, both offering full-hookup RV sites and cabins.
Allentown KOA Journey, located in New Tripoli, is a 40-acre wooded property with a stream running through it, cabins, tent sites, and full-hookup RV sites. Evergreen Lake Campground in Bath sits at the base of Blue Mountain and features a 25-acre lake with pedal boats, mini-golf, and 250 wooded sites.
Things to do near Cherryville
Outdoor activity drives most trips to this area. Beltzville State Park, just north of Cherryville, offers a large lake for boating, swimming, and fishing, and Lehigh Gorge State Park to the north is popular for whitewater rafting, biking the D&L Trail, and hiking. Blue Mountain and the Appalachian Trail cross the ridge west of town, with the Lehigh Valley itself packed with day trips.
Families typically build itineraries around Dorney Park in Allentown, the Crayola Experience in Easton, and the historic downtown of Jim Thorpe, which features a scenic railroad and fall foliage rides. Pocono Raceway and Penn's Peak host events throughout the warm months. Rainy days are easy to fill with the Da Vinci Science Center and the National Canal Museum.

The camping season in the Lehigh Valley and southern Poconos generally runs from April through October. Many private parks in the Cherryville area open in mid-April and close in mid-October, so late-fall and winter travelers should confirm dates before booking. Only a small number of state parks in the wider region stay open year-round.
Summer is peak season. Temperatures typically sit in the mid-80s, humidity is high, and thunderstorms are frequent. Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends fill fastest, and many campgrounds require two-night minimums on weekends and three nights on holiday weekends. September and October bring cooler nights, lower crowds, and strong fall foliage, especially in the Pocono ridges above Jim Thorpe.
Winter is cold with variable snowfall and possible ice storms. Occasional tropical remnants and nor'easters can bring heavy rain and flooding in late summer and early fall, so trip planning around river-adjacent campgrounds should account for the forecast.

Great weekend getaway!
Kami A. - Nov 2024
Great vehicle and friendly owners. This compact camper has a lot of creature comforts while allowing one to maneuver and park in regular parking lots. The van is really easy to drive and handles really nice. The beds were comfortable and IMO accommodate 2 adults (top bed) and 1 adult or 2 kids in the lower bed. We were able to use the bike rack, too, and that worked great for a road bike and mountain bike (I think 2 mountain bikes might not fit unless the handle bars were turned on 1 of them). We didn't use the, generator, heater, hot water, shower, sink, microwave or toilet so I can't comment on them but I wish we rented it longer so we could've taken advantage of all this van has to offer. We would absolutely rent again.

How to book campgrounds near Cherryville
Private parks in the area, including Don Laine Campground, Pocono Point RV & Campground, Stoneybrook RV Resort, and Evergreen Lake Campground, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Allentown KOA Journey is bookable through the KOA website. Holiday weekends and peak summer weekends fill early, so booking two to three months out is recommended for July and August, and further ahead for the Fourth of July.
For Pennsylvania state parks such as Beltzville, Hickory Run, and Tobyhanna, reservations are handled through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system on ReserveAmerica or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. The booking window opens 11 months in advance at noon Eastern Time, and a two-night minimum applies to weekend stays in summer, with a 14-night maximum from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
What to expect on-site
Most private campgrounds in the Cherryville corridor offer full hookups (electric, water, and sewer), on-site stores, laundry, and swimming pools. Wi-Fi coverage varies and is often limited to the office area, so travelers who need to work should plan for cellular data as a backup. Cable and air-conditioning hookups may carry additional fees at some parks, including Don Laine Campground.
Sites at older, family-owned parks tend to be a mix of gravel and grass, and many have a large seasonal contingent, meaning long-term residents alongside transient guests. Big rigs should confirm site length and turning radius before booking, especially in wooded properties.
Quiet hours, pet rules, and campfire policies are standard. Firewood is typically sold on-site, and moving wood between counties is discouraged to limit invasive-pest spread.

penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxCan I take my Cherryville RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, cross-state travel is welcome, and Cherryville is one of the best launchpads in the Northeast for it. From here you can easily reach New Jersey beaches like Cape May (about 130 miles), the Catskills in New York (90 miles), Washington DC (180 miles), or Niagara Falls (300 miles). Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection coverage, so message the owner before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection do not extend there. Pro tip: a Cherryville to Acadia National Park route in Maine is a classic 10-day RV road trip from Cherryville.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on a Cherryville RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable, so plan smart and you'll stretch your budget. Class C motorhomes around Cherryville typically average 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class A rigs 6 to 8, campervans 14 to 20, and a travel trailer towed behind a pickup roughly 10 to 13. Pennsylvania gas prices generally sit a bit above the national average. For a 300-mile weekend loop through the Poconos, budget roughly $120 to $200 in fuel for a midsize motorhome. Pro tip: download GasBuddy and fill up just off Route 22 or Interstate 78 in Lehigh Valley, where prices tend to run cheaper than inside the Poconos.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Cherryville?
Earlier is always better, especially for summer and fall weekends. Pennsylvania state parks like Hickory Run, Beltzville, and Promised Land open reservations up to 11 months ahead through the official ReserveAmerica system, and the most popular waterfront and electric sites can be gone within minutes. Private campgrounds around Jim Thorpe and the Delaware Water Gap typically book three to six months out for peak weekends. For midweek stays in May, June, or early September, you can usually score a spot two to three weeks ahead. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, search Sunday through Thursday arrivals, you'll find better availability and often lower nightly rates.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Cherryville?
Driving an RV around Cherryville is very manageable, the area sits in the Lehigh Valley with mostly two-lane state routes and easy access to Interstate 78 and Route 33. The biggest things to watch for are the rolling hills and tight turns once you head north into the Poconos along Route 209 and Route 903, and seasonal deer crossings at dawn and dusk on rural roads like Route 248. Winter can bring snow and ice from December through March, so most renters stick to April through November. Pro tip: avoid downtown Bethlehem's narrow historic streets in a big rig, park at the SteelStacks lots and Uber in instead.

Cherryville-area hosts commonly offer add-ons like kitchen and linen kits (typically $25 to $75), portable grills, generators, bike racks, camping chairs, outdoor mats, and propane top-offs. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on, especially for a family RV trip in Cherryville where you'd rather skip the driving learning curve. Pickup and dropoff happen at the host's location unless you book delivery. Mileage policies vary by listing, with daily allowances usually between 100 and 200 miles or unlimited options on some rigs. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a linen kit for the easiest first-time experience, your only job becomes showing up with groceries.
visitpa.com/region/pocono-mountainsHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy directly when you book, with funds protected until your trip starts. Most hosts require a refundable security deposit that's held (not charged) on your card around the time of pickup, separate from your booking payment, and the amount varies by RV. As long as you return the rig in the same condition with tanks handled per the host's instructions, your deposit is released after the trip. Pro tip: do a quick video walkaround at pickup and dropoff to document the RV's condition, it's the easiest way to keep your deposit return smooth and start your Cherryville RV trip stress-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Cherryville during the winter?
Yes, winter RV rental in Cherryville, PA is absolutely possible and can be magical if you love quiet trails and snowy Pocono views. Many hosts keep their rigs available year-round. Look for listings that mention four-season insulation, heated holding tanks, and a working furnace, all of which matter when overnight lows drop into the teens or 20s from December through February. Plan to stay at campgrounds with shore power since cold-weather camping burns through propane fast. Pro tip: pair a heated RV with a day trip to Blue Mountain Resort or Camelback for skiing, then warm up with hot cocoa back at your campsite.
