Lancaster County has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold winters. Camping demand tracks that pattern closely. Most private campgrounds in the area operate from spring into late fall, and reservations for summer weekends and holiday periods should be made well in advance. Operating windows vary by park. Starlite Camping Resort in Stevens runs a spring-through-late-October season, with bathhouses closing after the final October weekend and self-contained units only after that date. Circle M RV and Camping Resort runs a seasonal calendar from early April through late November, transitioning to weekend-only operation in November. Old Mill Stream Camping Manor operates year-round, though water service may be limited from roughly November through April because of freezing temperatures. Spring and fall bring comfortable RV weather and thinner crowds, while August is typically the wettest month. Fall weekends draw heavy family bookings around Halloween events at parks such as Circle M, and Dutch Wonderland opens weekends at the end of April before running daily through summer.
