Campgrounds and RV parks near Ephrata, PA

History-focused travelers can visit the Ephrata Cloister, a preserved 18th-century religious community, or explore downtown Lancaster for restaurants, galleries, and the Lancaster Central Market, one of the nation's oldest public markets. The Green Dragon Farmers Market operates every Friday in Ephrata and draws large crowds through the warm months. Families often build a day around Dutch Wonderland amusement park south of Lancaster, plus the Strasburg Rail Road and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. Hersheypark and Hershey's Chocolate World sit about 45 minutes north for a full day of coasters and chocolate tours. Back at camp, expect pools, playgrounds, and organized activities at the family resorts, plus scenic backroad drives past Amish farms between stops.

Most campgrounds in the Ephrata region operate seasonally, typically from April through October, with only a few remaining open year-round. Peak demand runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with holiday weekends and the fall foliage window in October filling first. Booking eight to twelve weeks ahead is standard for summer weekends, and longer for holidays. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day there is a two night minimum on weekends at Woodcrest Retreat, with three nights required for holiday weekends. Spring brings mild days, greening farmland, and lower crowds, though early April nights can still drop near freezing and pools generally are not yet open. Summer is warm and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms; shaded full-hookup sites are worth targeting. Fall delivers cooler nights, harvest markets, and reliable color through mid to late October. Winter camping options are limited. Most family resorts near Ephrata close for the season, so travelers looking to visit between December and February should confirm operating dates directly with the campground before booking.

The terrain around Ephrata is generally rolling, with some campgrounds set on modest hills that provide countryside views. Sites range from open, sunny pull-throughs to shaded wooded back-ins. Cell coverage is reliable across most of Lancaster County, and grocery, propane, and dump stations are easy to find in and around Ephrata. At Woodcrest Retreat, all sites have water and electric, B sites also have sewer hookups, and amenities include a dumping station, picnic tables, fire rings, a bath house, playground, and a camp store. Family-friendly amenities appear throughout the region, including playgrounds, swimming pools, and organized activities like hayrides. Expect quiet hours to be enforced and Sunday closures at many Amish-run businesses and farm stands, so plan grocery runs and fuel stops for Saturday when possible.
