RV camping near Faxon, Pennsylvania
Faxon is a small census-designated place in Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County, bordering the city of Williamsport along Interstate 180. The area sits in the West Branch Susquehanna River valley in North Central Pennsylvania, with the Appalachian ridges of the Pennsylvania Wilds rising to the north. Williamsport itself is roughly 85 miles from Harrisburg and 175 miles from Philadelphia, which makes Faxon a practical staging point for renters driving in from the mid-Atlantic corridor.
Campgrounds within a short drive cover the range most RV renters look for. Riverside Campground and Sheshequin Camp Ground sit near the Susquehanna for water-access sites, while Williamsport South/Nittany Mountain KOA Holiday offers a full-service park with pull-throughs and hookups. Hidden Valley Camping Resort and Hidden Valley RV Park round out the options with resort-style amenities.
Most renters use Faxon as a base for Little League World Series week, Loyalsock Creek paddling, and day trips into Loyalsock and Tiadaghton State Forests.
Things to do near Faxon
Baseball is the headline draw. The Little League Baseball World Series is held every August at the Little League complex in South Williamsport, and admission to the games is free. During the same window, the MLB Little League Classic brings a regular-season Major League game to Historic Bowman Field, home of the Williamsport Crosscutters of the MLB Draft League.
Outside baseball season, the surrounding public lands drive most trip planning. Loyalsock State Forest and Tiadaghton State Forest offer hiking on the Loyalsock Trail, waterfalls at Worlds End State Park, and trout streams. Rose Valley Lake and the West Branch Susquehanna support fishing and paddling. Downtown Williamsport adds breweries, the Thomas T. Taber Museum, and Millionaires' Row for evenings off the campground.

The main RV season in this part of Pennsylvania runs from mid-April through late October. Most private campgrounds around Williamsport open around the Pennsylvania trout opener in spring and close after leaf season in the fall. State forest and state park campsites in the region typically follow a similar spring to late fall window, with reduced services in the shoulder months.
Summer is peak. The Little League Baseball World Series in the second half of August books out the closest parks months in advance, and any campground within a reasonable drive of South Williamsport fills first. Renters targeting that week should reserve early and expect firmer minimum-night policies.
Fall brings the region's strongest color, usually cresting in the first two weeks of October across the Endless Mountains. Winter camping is limited: overnight temperatures routinely drop below freezing from December through February, water systems at most private parks are shut off, and only a handful of sites remain open with electric-only service.

How to book
Private campgrounds around Faxon, including Riverside Campground, Williamsport South/Nittany Mountain KOA Holiday, Sheshequin Camp Ground, Hidden Valley Camping Resort, and Hidden Valley RV Park, are booked directly through each park's own website or phone line. KOA properties also accept reservations through the KOA app and central reservation system.
Pennsylvania State Parks and DCNR state forest campsites are reserved through the state's official Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Reservations website, or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Most sites can be booked up to eleven months ahead of arrival, to noon of the day of arrival. For Little League World Series week, book both private sites and any state park sites within about an hour of Williamsport as soon as the booking window opens. Cancellation and change policies vary, so confirm deposit and refund terms before locking in dates.
What to expect on arrival
Sites near Faxon tend to be a mix of gravel pull-throughs and grass back-ins. The KOA property is the most predictable for larger Class A and fifth-wheel rigs, with full hookups, longer sites, and level pads. Parks along the Susquehanna and Loyalsock Creek can be tighter, with more mature tree cover, so measure your rig and confirm site length when booking.
Cell service is generally reliable in Loyalsock Township and along the I-180 corridor but drops quickly once you head north into the state forests. Black bears are present throughout the surrounding ridges, so food and trash need to be secured. Bring layers even in summer: valley evenings cool off quickly once the sun drops behind the ridgeline.

lycoming.org/visitors/What license do I need to rent an RV in Faxon, PA?
Great news for first-timers: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Faxon, PA. Pennsylvania does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use RVs, including big Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels. You'll need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and your ID is verified securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), usually under $20 from your local auto association. That's it. Most renters are surprised how quickly the paperwork side wraps up so they can focus on planning the fun part: the route through the Endless Mountains.

Yes, and this is one of the best parts of booking with RVezy. Every RV rental in Faxon comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included automatically. The protection plan covers eligible damage to the RV and gives you real financial peace of mind on the road. rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat happens if I need to cancel my Faxon RV rental?
Plans change, and RVezy makes it easy to roll with it. Cancellation policies are set at the platform level by RVezy, not by individual hosts, and every booking includes a short grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund amounts after that depend on how far out from your trip you cancel. Because the policy is handled by RVezy, you will not see policy details on individual listings. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credits. Reach out to RVezy support anytime before, during, or after your trip in Faxon for help.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV trip from Faxon?
Absolutely. A pet-friendly RV rental in Faxon is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see dozens of listings whose hosts welcome four-legged travelers (some charge a small pet fee, which you'll see clearly on the listing). Loyalsock Township is a great launch pad for dog owners: the off-leash Loyalsock Dog Park sits minutes from Faxon, and the Susquehanna Riverwalk in Williamsport is a leashed-friendly stroll along the water. Heading further afield, World's End State Park in nearby Forksville allows leashed pets on most trails. Pro tip: pack a tie-out stake and a collapsible water bowl, central PA summers can hit 85°F.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Pages/PetsInParks.aspxCan the RV be delivered to me in Faxon?
Yes, RV delivery in Faxon is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drive the rig directly to your driveway, a Loyalsock Township address, or straight to your campground at Little Pine State Park, World's End, or Hills Creek State Park. They'll level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave, so you never have to back a 30-foot motorhome through a tight campsite loop. Delivery fees are typically based on mileage from the host's location and are listed under the listing's add-ons. Pro tip: book delivery to your campsite for a totally turnkey Williamsport area RV trip.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/Pages/default.aspxHow far can I drive on an RV rental from Faxon?

dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/LittlePineStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Faxon, PA?
Late spring through mid-fall is the sweet spot for RV camping in Faxon. May through October brings comfortable temps (60°F to 85°F daytime), with July averaging around 72°F and gorgeous green mountains all around. The single most magical window is late September into mid-October, when the Allegheny Plateau lights up with red, orange, and gold foliage, this is a bucket-list time for a Faxon RV trip. Late August brings the Little League World Series to South Williamsport just minutes away, so book early if you want to attend. Winter rentals (December to March) are quieter and cheaper, but make sure your host's rig has a furnace and you understand cold-weather hookups.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You're going to do great. First time renting an RV is RVezy's bread and butter, and Faxon hosts are known for being patient and thorough. At pickup, your host gives you a full walkthrough: how to extend the slides, run the generator, hook up to shore power, dump tanks, and drive safely. Most walkthroughs take 30 to 60 minutes, and you can text or call your host anytime during your trip. If you're nervous about driving a big rig out of a tight neighborhood, ask about delivery and setup. Pro tip: stick to a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer for your first trip; they drive much like a large van or a pickup with a tag-along.
dmv.pa.gov/Driver-Services/Pages/default.aspxWhat happens if something breaks down during my trip?
Take a breath, you are covered. Every RV rental in Faxon comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included in the renter protection plan, so help is a single phone call away whether you are stuck on Route 15, parked in the Tiadaghton State Forest, or dealing with a dead battery at a Pine Creek campground. Roadside assistance handles tire changes, jumpstarts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified repair shop. Your host is also your first text for quirks like a finicky water pump or how to reset the inverter, since they know their rig inside out. Pro tip: save both the RVezy support number and your host's number to your phone before you pull out of the driveway.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat are the best RV road trips from Faxon, PA?
Faxon's location just off Interstate 180 makes it an ideal jumping-off point for an RV road trip from Faxon. Top routes include: the PA Grand Canyon loop (about 60 miles northwest to Wellsboro and Leonard Harrison State Park), the Pocono Mountains (110 miles east via I-80), Niagara Falls (230 miles north, about 4.5 hours), Gettysburg (130 miles south), and the Finger Lakes wine region in New York (160 miles north). Cross-border trips into New York and beyond are generally allowed, just confirm coverage with the host when booking; trips into Mexico aren't permitted on RVezy. Pro tip: the Pine Creek Rail Trail along Route 414 is a stunning scenic drive even if you don't cycle.
visitpa.com/region/pennsylvania-wildsWhat's the fuel budget for an RV trip in central PA?
Easier than you'd think. Most Class C motorhomes and travel trailers around Faxon average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), while smaller Class B campervans can hit 16 to 20 MPG. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run around $3.40 to $3.80 per gallon, with stations along Route 15, East Third Street in Williamsport, and the truck-friendly Pilot off I-180 Exit 21 being convenient stops for larger rigs. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop in a Class C, budget roughly $130 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: download the GasBuddy app and fill up in Montoursville or Muncy where prices often run a few cents cheaper than downtown Williamsport.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Faxon?
Earlier is better, but you have options. Pennsylvania state parks like Little Pine, World's End, and Hills Creek open reservations 11 months in advance through the official Pennsylvania state parks reservation system, and prime summer weekends (especially around Memorial Day, July 4, and Little League World Series week in late August) book out months ahead. For shoulder season (May, September, October) you can often grab a site 2 to 4 weeks out. Private campgrounds and KOAs in the Williamsport area are more flexible. Pro tip: if state parks are full, try first-come-first-served sites in Tiadaghton or Loyalsock State Forest, both are within 30 minutes of Faxon and rarely fully booked.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Faxon and central PA?
Drivable and scenic, with a few things to know. Faxon sits right off Interstate 180, a four-lane highway that's easy for RVs of any size. Once you head north into the Endless Mountains on routes like PA-87 or US-15, expect steep grades, switchbacks, and 45 mph limits, so take it slow and use lower gears descending. The Loyalsock Creek bridge on Route 87 has a 13-foot clearance restriction, so check your rig's height (most rentals are 10 to 12 feet). Winter (December to March) brings snow and ice; if you're traveling then, ask your host about snow tires. Pro tip: avoid driving through downtown Williamsport during Little League World Series traffic in late August, take the bypass via I-180.
511pa.com/What hookups and amenities do campgrounds near Faxon offer?
Most campgrounds within 30 miles of Faxon offer the essentials and then some. Pennsylvania state parks like Little Pine and Hills Creek provide electric hookups (20/30/50 amp), potable water fill stations, modern restrooms with hot showers, and centralized dump stations, though full water/sewer hookups at each site are rare. Private parks like Pine Creek Cabins & Campground typically offer full hookups, Wi-Fi, and laundry. Free dump stations are available at the Williamsport area campgrounds and at most state park entrances. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before leaving Faxon since some remote sites in Loyalsock State Forest are dry camping only. The Flying J off I-180 also has a public dump station for larger rigs.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/WhatToDo/Camping/Pages/default.aspxWhat's included inside an RV rental in Faxon?
More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Faxon comes fully equipped with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette and sofa beds (most rigs sleep 4 to 8), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof air conditioning, a propane furnace, and seatbelts at every designated travel seat. Many hosts also include a generator, outdoor awning, leveling blocks, sewer hose, fresh-water hose, and basic kitchen kit (pots, plates, utensils). Wi-Fi and TVs vary by listing, so check the amenities tab. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm bedding and towels are included, many Faxon-area hosts toss them in for free.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Faxon hosts offer plenty of useful add-ons to customize your trip: delivery and setup (priced per mile from the host), generator use (often $3 to $5 per hour beyond a daily allotment), bike racks, kayak racks, camping chairs, propane top-offs, and linen/kitchen packages. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Loyalsock Township, with most hosts offering a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough. Mileage policies typically include 100 to 150 free miles per night with extras at $0.30 to $0.45 per mile. Generator hours often include 2 to 4 free per night. Pro tip: bundle add-ons at booking, it's smoother than adding them later and hosts often discount when you ask politely.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Simple and secure. When you book an RV rental in Faxon through RVezy, payment is processed through the platform with a major credit or debit card, so you never hand cash to the host. The total includes the nightly rate, service fee, your chosen protection plan, taxes, and any add-ons. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before pickup and released after the trip if there is no damage and the RV is returned with the agreed fuel and tank levels. Deposit amounts vary by listing and are shown clearly at checkout. Pro tip: take a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff in the host's Faxon driveway, it protects everyone and makes deposit returns smoother.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Faxon during winter?
Yes, and it's a hidden gem season. Winter RV rentals in Faxon are absolutely available, with December to March temps ranging from lows in the teens to highs in the 30s and 40s Fahrenheit. Look for listings with four-season insulation, heated holding tanks, a propane furnace, and an enclosed underbelly, then filter for hosts who explicitly allow winter use. Great cold-weather destinations within an hour include Hyner View State Park for snow vistas, Elk Country Visitor Center near Benezette (about 90 miles northwest), and snowmobiling trails throughout the Tiadaghton State Forest. Pro tip: ask your host for a heated water hose and skirting tips, and plan to dump tanks more often since freezing temps can stall the system. A winter Faxon RV trip is quiet, beautiful, and dramatically cheaper.
