Campgrounds and RV parks near Frackville, PA

Frackville sits on Broad Mountain in Schuylkill County, at the western edge of Pennsylvania's anthracite coal region. The town works as an RV base because Interstate 81 runs alongside it and Interstate 78 is a short drive south, and several established campgrounds cluster within a fifteen-minute drive. The closest public option is Locust Lake State Park, which sits on the side of Locust Mountain with a 52-acre lake between two campgrounds and is surrounded by forest. The park covers 1,772 acres and is the largest single draw for RV travelers in the area. Nearby private parks include Red Ridge Lake Campgrounds, Lakewood Park Campground in Barnesville, Rosemount Camping Resort near Tamaqua, and Camp-A-While. Sites in this corner of Pennsylvania tend to be wooded and rolling rather than flat and open, which matters when leveling a rig. Both state and private campgrounds accept standard RVs, but full-hookup availability varies by property, so match the rig to the listing before booking.

Reservation systems split between public and private. Most Pennsylvania state park campsites can be reserved up to 11 months in advance, to noon of the day of arrival, through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests reservation website or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. The booking window opens at noon Eastern Time, and that rolling window is the key to landing a summer weekend at Locust Lake, which fills quickly. Private parks handle bookings directly. Rosemount Camping Resort, Lakewood Park Campground, Red Ridge Lake Campgrounds, and Camp-A-While each publish their own reservation contact and cancellation terms, so book direct when possible. Confirm site length, hookup type (electric only versus full hookup), and pet rules at the time of booking. Some walk-to and non-electric loops are handled differently from the main trailer areas, and unreserved sites at Locust Lake are available first-come, first-served.
