Campgrounds and RV parks near Hummelstown, PA

Hersheypark is the primary anchor, with coasters, water rides, and ZooAmerica next door. Hersheypark Camping Resort offers free front-gate shuttle service to Hersheypark and Chocolate World, which eliminates driving and parking for park days. Hershey's Chocolate World, the Hershey Story Museum, and Hersheypark Stadium concerts are all within a short drive. Outside Hershey, the region rewards day trips. The Appalachian Trail crosses ridges to the north, and the Susquehanna River corridor offers paddling and fishing. Nearby favorites include rail-trail walking and biking, riverfront trails along the Susquehanna, and Pennsylvania state parks with hiking and lake access. Amish Country around Lancaster and the Gettysburg battlefield are both under an hour away by car.

Peak camping season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, tracking Hersheypark's main operating calendar. Weekends fill first, and holiday weeks around the Fourth of July and Labor Day sell out at Hersheypark Camping Resort and Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA Holiday well in advance. Book early if the trip is anchored to a specific park date or concert. Spring and fall are the shoulder seasons. Days are mild, humidity drops, and private campgrounds have more availability, though outdoor pools operate seasonally. The Hersheypark Camping Resort outdoor pool typically runs from late May through Labor Day, and most Hershey-area resorts follow a similar schedule. October brings foliage and Hersheypark's Halloween events, which push weekend demand back up. Winter is quiet. Harrisburg summers are warm and humid and winters are cold and snowy, with partly cloudy skies year round. Many private campgrounds close or reduce services from late fall through early spring, and RV travelers should confirm winter operating status directly with each property before booking.

Sites near Hersheypark are family-oriented and busy. Expect shuttle traffic, pool-area activity, and campfire smells in the evening. Sites at Hersheypark Camping Resort can be close together, especially in the front section, and rail lines run near parts of the property, so train noise can be a factor for sites closest to the tracks. Big rigs should ask about pull-through length and site width when booking. Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA Holiday is a quieter alternative about twenty minutes out, with pull-through and back-in sites, a fishing pond, and on-site recreation. Cell service is generally good across the region, most private parks offer Wi-Fi, and 20/30/50-amp service is standard at the larger resorts. Bring bug spray for summer evenings and a light jacket for spring and fall nights.
