Camping near Lampeter, Pennsylvania
Lampeter is an unincorporated community in West Lampeter Township, roughly five miles southeast of the city of Lancaster in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. The area sits inside central Lancaster County, framed by Amish farmland, covered bridges, and small crossroads towns like Strasburg, Ronks, and Bird-in-Hand. RV travellers use it as a base for Dutch Wonderland, Sight and Sound Theatre, Strasburg Railroad, and Tanger Outlets, all within a short drive.
Campgrounds in this corridor are private, family-run RV parks rather than state or federal sites. Old Mill Stream Camping Manor sits along Route 30 near Dutch Wonderland, Mill Bridge Village and Camp Resort surrounds the 1738 Herr's Grist Mill and the 1844 covered bridge (the longest in Lancaster County) on Pequea Creek in Ronks, and Circle M RV and Camping Resort, Flory's Cottages and Camping, and Country Acres Campground sit within a short drive on quieter rural roads.
Most parks in the area offer full hookups, cabin rentals, pools, and easy access to Route 30 and Route 741.
Things to do near Lampeter
Dutch Wonderland is the anchor family attraction on Route 30, a short drive from Old Mill Stream Camping Manor. Strasburg, a few miles east of Lampeter along Route 741, holds the Strasburg Railroad, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, and the Choo Choo Barn. Sight and Sound Theatre in Ronks runs large-scale biblical productions on a rotating schedule.
Back-road driving is a draw in itself. Lancaster County has more historic covered bridges than any other county in the United States, and several sit within ten miles of Lampeter. Mill Bridge Village and Camp Resort includes one on the property.
For outdoor time, Lancaster County Central Park in West Lampeter Township is the county's largest park, covering 544 acres of trails, playgrounds, and access to Mill Creek and the Conestoga River. Farm stands, quilt shops, and Amish markets line the roads between Lampeter, Bird-in-Hand, and Intercourse.

Lancaster County has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Peak RV season runs from late May through mid-October, when farm stands, buggy tours, and the major attractions all operate on full summer schedules. July and August are hot and humid, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so campers rely on hookups for air conditioning.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for touring. April and May bring blooming farmland and lower humidity, while September and October pair mild days with the fall foliage that typically peaks in mid to late October. Weekends in October fill quickly because of harvest events, corn mazes, and leaf-peeping traffic.
Winter is quiet. Some private campgrounds around Lampeter close or shift to limited-service operation from late fall through March, while Mill Bridge Village and Camp Resort is open year 'round. Snow and freezing rain are common between December and February, and some Amish-country attractions run reduced hours.

How to book campgrounds near Lampeter
The campgrounds around Lampeter are all privately owned, so reservations go directly through each park's own website or phone line rather than a central agency like Recreation.gov or the Pennsylvania state park system. Some parks use third-party reservation platforms that add a booking fee.
Holiday weekends, the summer school break, and October foliage weekends are the tightest windows. Book Old Mill Stream Camping Manor, Circle M RV and Camping Resort, Flory's Cottages and Camping, Mill Bridge Village and Camp Resort, and Country Acres Campground several months ahead for Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, and any weekend in October.
Mid-week arrivals in May, June, and September are usually available on shorter notice. Confirm rig-length limits, slide clearance, and pet rules when booking.
What to expect on the ground
Expect compact, well-groomed private RV parks rather than wilderness sites. Full hookups, 50 amp paved sites, laundry, heated pool, cabin rentals, and camp amenities are standard at the larger properties. Sites can sit quite tight, especially at Mill Bridge Village and Camp Resort, so creek-side or perimeter sites are worth requesting.
Roads in the area are two-lane and shared with horse-drawn buggies, particularly on Route 340, Route 741, and the smaller township roads. Drive slowly at dusk and on hill crests. Cell service is generally good, but some farm-lane campgrounds have weaker signals.
Roosters, dairy operations, and early-morning farm activity next to campgrounds are part of the experience. Many parks host Amish vendors selling baked goods, and most sit within a short drive of a grocery store, propane refill, and dump station.

dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Reservations/Pages/default.aspxWhat are local driving conditions like around Lampeter?
They're refreshingly manageable. Lampeter sits in gentle rolling farmland with mostly two-lane country roads, low traffic, and minimal hills compared to western PA. Watch for horse-drawn Amish buggies, especially on Sundays and near sunset, and pass them slowly with plenty of room. Winter can bring snow and ice from December to February. Pro tip: avoid the narrow covered bridges around Strasburg and Paradise in a tall rig (clearances run 8-10 feet), and use Route 222 or Route 30 as your main arteries for any motorhome rental Lampeter trip.

Propane refills are easy to find at Country Acres and at local U-Haul and Tractor Supply locations along Route 30. visitpa.com/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
It's straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in Lampeter, PA through RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card. No cash, no awkward cash app transfers, and no surprise fees at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500-$1,500 depending on the rig) and released after your trip once the host confirms everything came back in good shape. To avoid any deposit issues, do a thorough walkaround photo session at pickup AND drop-off, follow the host's fuel and dump-station instructions, and return on time. Pro tip: keep all communication inside the RVezy app so there's a clear record. That keeps both you and the host protected and makes deposit returns even faster.
