Campgrounds and RV parks near Lanesboro, PA

Lanesboro sits at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and Starrucca Creek in Susquehanna County, in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania near the New York state line. The borough is small, but it works well as a base for RV travelers exploring the Endless Mountains region, with easy access via Interstate 81 to the west and Route 17/I-86 just across the border in New York. Private campgrounds dominate the area rather than large federal or state park systems. Pine Crest Campground, Guestward Ho Family Campground, Lakeside Campground, Kellystone Park Campsite, and Shady Rest Campground are the closest options, offering a mix of RV hookups, tent sites, and cabins on rolling wooded terrain. Sites tend to be family-run with seasonal and transient stays. The closest state park with camping facilities is Salt Springs State Park, roughly a 45-minute drive southwest and about seven miles north of Montrose. It is a rustic, tent-oriented park with no RV hookups, so travelers with larger rigs typically stay at nearby private campgrounds and visit the park for day hikes and waterfalls.

Private campgrounds in the Lanesboro area, including Pine Crest Campground, Guestward Ho Family Campground, Lakeside Campground, Kellystone Park Campsite, and Shady Rest Campground, are booked directly with each operator by phone, email, or their own websites. Deposits are typically required, and cancellation windows vary, so confirm the policy before locking in dates. For state-managed camping, Pennsylvania State Parks use the ReserveAmerica platform. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance, with a three-day minimum lead time before arrival for most sites. Salt Springs State Park is an exception: its rustic tent sites and three cottages are managed by the Friends of Salt Springs Park and booked directly through the Friends by phone. For holiday weekends and peak summer, book two to three months out. Shoulder-season weekdays are usually available closer to arrival.
