Campgrounds near Littlestown
Littlestown sits in southern Adams County, Pennsylvania, roughly ten miles southeast of Gettysburg and within easy driving distance of the Maryland line. For RV travelers, the town works as a quiet base between the Gettysburg battlefield to the northwest and Codorus State Park's Lake Marburg to the northeast, with most named campgrounds concentrated along the corridors leading into Gettysburg.
The closest private options include Drummer Boy Camping Resort and Artillery Ridge Camping Resort, both on the Gettysburg side, plus Round Top Campground and Gettysburg Battlefield Resort. Artillery Ridge sits on the historic grounds of the Union Artillery Reserve and is within walking distance of battlefield trails, museums, and monuments, making it a common pick for history-focused trips.
For public-land camping, Codorus State Park is the nearest state park with a full campground. The park covers about 3,490 acres in the rolling hills of southern York County and centers on the 1,275-acre Lake Marburg, which has 26 miles of shoreline. Together, these options cover full-hookup RV sites, tent sites, cabins, and yurts.
Things to do near Littlestown
The main draw is Gettysburg National Military Park, where driving tours, monuments, and the museum and visitor center anchor most itineraries. Artillery Ridge Camping Resort partners with the on-site National Riding Stables for guided horseback tours of the battlefield, a useful option for families wanting a different angle on the terrain.
At Codorus State Park, Lake Marburg supports motorboating, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and warmwater fishing, with a separate trout fishery in Codorus Creek. Land-based activities include hiking, mountain biking, disc golf, and a seasonal swimming pool. Bird watching is strong across the park's mix of forest, field, wetland, and lake habitats.
Round Top Campground and Drummer Boy Camping Resort add family amenities such as pools, mini golf, and organized weekend activities.

The Gettysburg-Littlestown area has a humid subtropical climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Rainfall is spread across the year, and heavy summer thunderstorms are common. This shapes when campgrounds open and how quickly they fill.
Most private RV parks near Gettysburg follow an April-to-October or April-to-November season. Codorus State Park's campground operates from the second Friday in April through November 1, with the day-use park itself open year-round from sunrise to sunset. The park's swimming pool runs on a seasonal schedule from Memorial Day weekend into early September, with hours expanding once schools release in June.
Peak demand runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day and again during fall foliage in October, when Gettysburg's historic sites draw significant RV traffic. Winter camping options are limited, since many area facilities close between November and March. Codorus State Park enforces a 14-night maximum stay for reservations during the summer season.

How to book
Codorus State Park is reserved through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system online or by phone at 888-PA-PARKS, staffed Monday to Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sites can be booked up to 11 months in advance, with reservations released at noon Eastern Time, and most site types require booking at least three days ahead of arrival. The campground has a five-person-per-site limit.
Private campgrounds including Drummer Boy Camping Resort, Artillery Ridge Camping Resort, Round Top Campground, and Gettysburg Battlefield Resort book directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends, the early-July battle anniversary, and October foliage weekends, reserve as far ahead as possible.
What to expect
Expect a mix of open and wooded sites depending on the park and loop. Codorus State Park has around 190 campsites spread across four loops, including roughly 111 electric sites, a set of tent-only sites, and a small number of camping cottages and yurts. Amenities include potable water, flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, an amphitheater, a boat launch, and a marina with boat rentals.
Private resorts near Gettysburg lean family-oriented, with pools, playgrounds, mini golf, camp stores, and weekend activities. Site spacing varies. Some interior loops at Codorus are heavily shaded, while open field sites offer more sun but less shade.
Cell service can be uneven in and around Pennsylvania state parks, so downloading a park map before arrival is recommended. Pet policies differ by property, so confirm rules with the specific campground before booking.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Littlestown, PA?

Expect roughly $90 to $150 per night for travel trailers and campervans, and $175 to $300 per night for larger Class A or Class C motorhomes. Because Littlestown sits just 9 miles from Gettysburg, demand spikes around the July 1 to 3 battle anniversary and reenactment weekends, so booking shoulder weeks in May, September, or October often unlocks the cheapest RV rental Littlestown has available. The Commonwealth does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for the motorhomes and trailers listed on RVezy, since they all fall under standard non-commercial weight limits. You just need to be 25 or older and pass RVezy's quick in-platform ID verification when you book. Visiting from outside the US? dmv.pa.gov/Driver-Services/Driver-Licensing/Pages/default.aspxIs RV insurance and roadside assistance included with my Littlestown rental?
Every RV rental in Littlestown booked through RVezy comes with a protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built into your reservation, so you can focus on the trip instead of the paperwork. The protection plan covers eligible damage to the RV during your rental, and you choose your coverage level during checkout, not the host. That means you can pick the peace-of-mind tier that matches your comfort level, whether you're heading out for a quick weekend at Codorus State Park or a longer Pennsylvania RV trip. Pro tip: review the coverage options carefully at booking, choosing the higher tier is often just a few dollars more per night and includes stronger financial protection.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat happens if I need to cancel my Littlestown RV rental?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every rental in Littlestown. There is a money-back grace period right after you book, so if plans shift quickly you have a window to cancel and receive a refund. After that, your refund depends on how far out you are from your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will help you rebook or provide a refund or travel credit. You won't see cancellation terms on the listing itself because they're handled at the platform level. Pro tip: book early to lock in your dates so your full grace-period flexibility kicks in automatically.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Littlestown?
Absolutely, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental Littlestown options, and Adams County is a great spot for traveling with dogs. Use the Pet-Friendly filter when searching, message the host about your specific pup, and you're set. Once you arrive, you'll find Gettysburg National Military Park welcomes leashed dogs on most battlefield trails and auto-tour stops, which is unusual for a national park site. Codorus State Park, about 20 minutes from Littlestown, has pet-friendly areas dogs love. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl since summer humidity in south-central Pennsylvania can climb fast, and ask your host if the RV has a pet-safe screen door for breezy evenings parked under the trees.
nps.gov/gett/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to my campground near Littlestown?
Yes, RV delivery Littlestown is one of the most popular options on the platform, especially for first-timers who don't want to tow or drive a big rig through town. Many Littlestown hosts will deliver your motorhome or travel trailer directly to a local campground like Artillery Ridge Campground in Gettysburg, Drummer Boy Camping Resort, or Granite Hill Camping Resort, set it up, level it, hook up the utilities, and walk you through everything before they leave. Just filter by Delivery on the search page and check each host's delivery radius and fee, which typically ranges from $2 to $5 per mile within a 30-mile zone. Pro tip: delivery is gold for the 4th of July weekend in Gettysburg, you skip the traffic and arrive to a fully ready campsite.
destinationgettysburg.com/things-to-do/camping/How far can I travel on a Littlestown RV trip?
You've got plenty of range from Littlestown, and most hosts offer generous daily mileage allowances (typically 100 to 150 free miles per day), with some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer trips. Within an easy day's drive you can reach Gettysburg National Military Park (9 miles), Hershey and Hersheypark (45 miles), Lancaster's Amish Country (50 miles), Washington DC (80 miles), Shenandoah National Park (110 miles), and the Pocono Mountains (150 miles). An RV road trip from Littlestown out to Harpers Ferry and along Skyline Drive is one of the best fall foliage routes on the East Coast. Pro tip: ask your host upfront about extra-mile pricing, it's usually $0.30 to $0.45 per mile if you go over, and many will bundle a higher mileage cap for a flat add-on fee.

pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/state-parks/find-a-park/codorus-state-park.htmlWhen is the best time of year for RV camping in Littlestown?
Late April through October is the sweet spot for an RV rental in Littlestown, with the peak being mid-September to late October when fall foliage lights up Adams County's orchards and the Michaux State Forest. Spring (April to May) brings 60 to 75 degree days perfect for battlefield walks. Summer (June to August) is warm and humid with highs of 82 to 88, ideal for swimming at Codorus Lake. Fall is crisp, golden, and the apple harvest is in full swing, this is when locals say Littlestown shines brightest. Winters dip into the 20s and 30s with occasional snow, but several area campgrounds stay open year-round if you want a quieter shoulder-season Littlestown RV trip. Pro tip: target the first two weekends of October for the best leaf-peeping.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before, will the host help me get comfortable?
Definitely, first time renting an RV in Littlestown is genuinely easy because every host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery. They'll walk you through the propane, water hookups, slide-outs, generator, leveling jacks, and dump procedures step by step, and most provide a printed cheat sheet or quick reference video you can pull up later. You can also message your host through the RVezy app any time during your trip if a question comes up. Littlestown's quiet country roads on Route 97 and Route 194 are a forgiving place to get used to the size before heading anywhere bigger. Pro tip: arrive 30 to 45 minutes early for pickup so you're not rushed through the walkthrough, you'll remember way more.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?

Whether it's a flat tire on Route 30, a dead battery at the Eisenhower National Historic Site parking lot, or a tow needed back from Shenandoah, dispatch handles it. Your host is also a direct resource and most Littlestown owners respond within minutes via the RVezy app since they know their rig inside and out. The closest major RV service centers are in Hanover and York, both under 30 minutes away. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone before you leave the driveway, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate just in case.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Littlestown RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is standard for RV rental Pennsylvania trips, and Littlestown's location puts you within easy reach of Maryland (10 miles south), Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed with your host's written approval and confirmation that the protection plan applies, so message the host and confirm in the RVezy thread before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Popular multi-state routes from Littlestown include the Civil War trail through Antietam and Harpers Ferry, the Chesapeake Bay loop, and a fall run up to the Finger Lakes. Pro tip: always confirm cross-border plans in writing through the RVezy message thread so everyone is aligned before you roll out.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and budget should I expect?
Plan smart and your fuel budget won't surprise you. Class C motorhomes around Littlestown average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A's run 6 to 10 MPG, campervans hit 15 to 20 MPG, and towable trailers depend on your tow vehicle but typically drop it by 4 to 6 MPG. Pennsylvania gas prices generally run a bit above the national average, hovering around $3.40 to $3.80 per gallon in the Gettysburg area in recent seasons. For a typical 3-night, 200-mile loop from Littlestown to Gettysburg to Codorus and back, budget roughly $80 to $130 in fuel for a midsize Class C. Pro tip: fill up in nearby Hanover or Westminster, MD where prices are often 10 to 20 cents cheaper than at the small Littlestown stations.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Littlestown?
For the best campgrounds near Littlestown, aim to book 3 to 6 months ahead for summer weekends and 6 to 9 months ahead if your trip falls on the July anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg or a major reenactment weekend. Pennsylvania state parks like Codorus open camping reservations up to 12 months in advance through the official PA State Parks system, and prime lakefront sites disappear quickly. Private parks like Artillery Ridge, Drummer Boy, and the Gettysburg KOA take reservations year-round and fill earliest for the 4th of July, Memorial Day, and Labor Day. Pro tip: for last-minute trips, look at midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday), availability improves and rates often drop 15 to 25 percent.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/state-parks/find-a-park/codorus-state-park.htmlWhat are the local roads like for driving an RV around Littlestown?
Driving is very manageable around Littlestown, this is gentle rolling farmland, not mountain switchbacks, so even a 30-foot Class C handles the area comfortably. Route 97, Route 194, and Route 116 are the main connectors and they're wide, well-maintained two-lane roads with good shoulders. Be aware of low-clearance covered bridges in nearby Adams County (Sachs Covered Bridge has an 8-foot height limit, so go around it in anything taller), and the historic narrow streets in downtown Gettysburg, where parking a big rig is tough. Use the designated bus and RV lot on Steinwehr Avenue instead. Pro tip: avoid Route 30 east of Gettysburg between 4 and 6 PM on summer Fridays, tourist traffic backs up significantly. The morning is much smoother for moving the RV.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds around Littlestown?
You'll find a full range of comforts at RV camping Littlestown destinations, from rustic to resort-style. Most private parks like Artillery Ridge, Drummer Boy, and the Gettysburg KOA offer 30/50-amp electric, full water and sewer hookups, free Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, swimming pools, and dump stations. Codorus State Park provides modern restrooms, potable water fill stations, electric sites, and a sanitary dump station on site for a small fee. Propane refills are easy to find at Hanover and Gettysburg ACE Hardware and Tractor Supply locations. Most parks also stock firewood and ice on site. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank at the campground before any day trip into Gettysburg, the battlefield parking lots have no water fill points, and you'll thank yourself later.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/state-parks/find-a-park/codorus-state-park.htmlWhat's actually inside the RV, beds, kitchen, bathroom, Wi-Fi?
You'll be impressed by how well-equipped a motorhome rental Littlestown comes. Most listings include a full kitchen with a fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, and sink; a bathroom with a toilet and shower; a dinette that converts to extra sleeping space; a queen or king main bed; air conditioning, furnace heat, and a TV or streaming setup. Many include a generator for off-grid power and seatbelts for everyone traveling. Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include a mobile hotspot, otherwise cell service is solid throughout Adams County on all major carriers. Class B campervans are more compact but still include a bed, kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Pro tip: filter listings by sleeps count and check the photos carefully, and message the host with any must-have item question before you book.
fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/title49/section/393.93What add-ons, pickup logistics, and mileage policies should I know about?
Littlestown hosts make customizing your trip easy with popular add-ons like camp chairs, outdoor mats, bed linens, kitchen kits, bike racks, generators, propane refills, and pet packages, usually $10 to $50 each per trip. Pickup is typically at the host's home in or near Littlestown, Hanover, or Gettysburg, with most offering afternoon pickup windows and a morning return on your departure day. Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per day to truly unlimited mileage on select listings. Generator hours often have a small per-hour fee after the included allotment. Pro tip: bundle linens and a kitchen kit if you're flying into BWI or Harrisburg, it saves you a Walmart run and gets you straight to the campfire faster.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Littlestown,%20PennsylvaniaHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure, you pay through RVezy at booking, which holds your trip funds until your rental starts and protects both you and the host. Most Littlestown hosts require a refundable security deposit ranging from $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value, and it is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup rather than charged outright. As long as you return the RV in the agreed condition (clean, fuel topped up, tanks dumped if required), the hold is released after your trip. Pro tip: take a quick walk-around video at both pickup and drop-off showing the RV's exterior, interior, and odometer. It's the easiest way to avoid disputes and keep that deposit moving back to you smoothly.
