Campgrounds near Manchester, Pennsylvania
Manchester sits in northern York County, Pennsylvania, along the lower Susquehanna River corridor between Harrisburg and York. The location puts RV travelers within a short drive of Hershey, Lancaster County's Amish farmland, and Gettysburg, making it a practical base for a multi-day family trip.
Private RV parks dominate the area. Closest to town is Bainbridge Rock Quarry Campground, a 60-site property on River Road in Bainbridge that operates year-round and accepts big rigs and pull-throughs. Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA Holiday sits a short drive north with full-hookup RV sites, tent areas, and deluxe cabins. Indian Rock Campgrounds, Ben Franklin RV Park, and Hershey Road Campground round out the private options across York and Lancaster counties.
For a state park experience, Gifford Pinchot State Park is roughly 30 minutes west near Lewisberry. Its lakeside campground is one of the largest state park campgrounds in the commonwealth, with 289 campsites, and it opens in mid-April and closes in late October.
Things to do near Manchester
Hersheypark is the region's headline attraction and sits about 20 minutes north of most Manchester-area campgrounds. Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA Holiday offers on-site amenities including pools, mini golf, and playgrounds for downtime between park visits.
Water and trail activities center on Pinchot Lake inside Gifford Pinchot State Park, where families boat, swim at the beach, and fish. The park sits along PA 177 between Rossville and Lewisberry, with reverting farm fields and wooded hillsides surrounding the 340-acre Pinchot Lake. The park offers over 18 miles of hiking trails, with some sections following the Mason Dixon Trail.
Day trips are easy in every direction: York's Harley-Davidson factory tour, Lancaster County's Amish markets and buggy rides, Gettysburg National Military Park, and the museums along Harrisburg's riverfront are all inside an hour.

Central Pennsylvania has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are warm, winters are cold, and precipitation is fairly wet overall and spread relatively evenly throughout the year, though winter is the driest season.
Late spring through early fall is the practical RV window. Gifford Pinchot State Park's campground opens in mid-April and closes in late October, and private parks around Hershey run their full amenity slate, including pools and shuttles, only through the warm season. Summer weekends fill fast, particularly when Hersheypark is in peak operation and around holiday periods. Booking eight to twelve weeks ahead is prudent for July and August.
Shoulder seasons are the quieter option. September and October bring cool nights, fall color across York and Lancaster counties, and easier availability at state park sites. Bainbridge Rock Quarry Campground stays open all year for travelers who want off-season access, though most nearby amenities scale back after October.
