Camping near Myerstown, Pennsylvania
Myerstown sits in northern Lebanon County in the rolling farmland of the Lebanon Valley, wedged between the Blue Mountain ridge to the north and Pennsylvania Dutch Country to the south. The town works well as an RV base because it puts Hershey, Lancaster's Amish region, and Reading each within roughly a 30 to 45 minute drive, while the surrounding countryside stays quiet and rural.
The closest privately run RV parks include Cocalico Creek Campground in southern Lancaster County, Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Eagles Peak in nearby Robesonia, and Starlite Camping Resort in Stevens. Camp Swatara sits east of town in northwestern Berks County at the foot of Blue Mountain, and Hickory Run Family Camping Resort rounds out the closer options.
Swatara State Park lies nearby and covers 3,520 acres between Second Mountain and Blue Mountain, with a section of the Appalachian Trail passing through the southern end. That mix of private resorts and public land gives visitors a choice between full-hookup family resorts and quieter, more rustic settings within a short drive of the same attractions.
Things to do near Myerstown
Families most often use Myerstown as a launch point for Hersheypark and Hershey's Chocolate World, both about 30 minutes west. Lancaster County's Amish farmlands, Kitchen Kettle Village, and Dutch Wonderland lie a similar distance south.
Outdoor options are close in. Swatara State Park features rolling fields, woodlands, and roughly 18 miles of hiking trails including the Swatara Rail Trail and a section of the Appalachian Trail, plus creek access for kayaking and fishing on Swatara Creek. Blue Marsh Lake near Reading offers boating, swimming, and multi-use trails.
Closer to camp, family resorts in the area typically run swimming pools, mini golf, splash pads, and stocked fishing ponds, so kids can stay busy on rainy days without leaving the property.

Summer is peak season. Weekends fill up well in advance for holiday periods around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, and for Hersheypark-adjacent stays. Themed weekends at family resorts, including fall Halloween events at several of the nearby parks, are also heavily booked. Plan on booking eight or more weeks out for any summer Friday or Saturday.
Spring and fall bring cooler nights, fewer crowds, and strong foliage color in October, when Swatara State Park is known for good fall views between Second and Blue Mountains. Winter camping options are limited in this area; a few parks stay open year-round for hookups, but pools and most activities shut down after Labor Day weekend.

How to book campgrounds in the area
Private resorts around Myerstown take reservations directly through their own websites or through booking platforms like Campspot and Roverpass. Eagles Peak, Starlite Camping Resort, Hickory Run Family Camping Resort, and Cocalico Creek Campground all accept online bookings, and Camp Swatara lists its family campground sites on Campspot as well as by phone through its office. Confirm accepted payment methods when reserving, since some smaller operators still require check or cash on arrival.
For public land, most campsites in Pennsylvania state parks can be reserved 11 months in advance to noon of the day of arrival, advance reservations are available for almost all campsites, and unreserved sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. State park and forest reservations use the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Reservations website or the call center at 888-PA-PARKS. A two-night minimum applies to weekend reservations in summer, with a 14-night maximum stay from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain in this corner of Pennsylvania is rolling rather than flat. Sites at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Eagles Peak and Starlite Camping Resort sit on hillsides, so ask for a level pull-through if towing a longer rig. Campers at Eagles Peak note the steep terrain requires walking uphill between activity areas and campsites, and some visitors rent golf carts to move around more easily.
Full-hookup sites with 30 and 50 amp service are standard at the larger resorts. Cell coverage is generally good on major carriers across the valley and weaker up on the ridges.
Expect mosquitoes and ticks near wooded and creek-side sites from late spring through early fall. Pennsylvania has active spotted lanternfly quarantines, so several parks ask campers not to bring outside firewood; buy it on-site or locally instead.
