Camping near New Oxford, Pennsylvania
New Oxford sits in Adams County, Pennsylvania, roughly halfway between Gettysburg and York on U.S. Route 30. The location puts RV travelers within a short drive of Civil War history, Lake Marburg, and the rolling farm country of south-central Pennsylvania. Most campgrounds in the area cater to families and history-focused visitors, with a mix of full-hookup private resorts and a large state-park option to the southeast.
Private campgrounds cluster along the corridor between New Oxford, Dover, and Gettysburg. Gettysburg Farm RV Campground in Dover is a 224-site Thousand Trails property set on a working farm, and Drummer Boy Camping Resort sits just east of the Gettysburg battlefields on Hanover Street. Cedar Lake Resort, also in Dover, and Campground Island round out the closer private options.
For public land, Codorus State Park lies to the southeast near Hanover and centers on Lake Marburg, a large impoundment popular with boaters and anglers. The Codorus State Park Gift Shop and Museum operates near the park office and is a useful first stop for maps and information.
Things to do around New Oxford
Gettysburg National Military Park is the anchor attraction, with a self-guided auto tour, ranger programs, and the visitor center museum and cyclorama. History travelers can pair the battlefield with the Eisenhower National Historic Site next door. New Oxford itself is known for antique shops clustered around the town square.
Outdoor recreation centers on Codorus State Park and Lake Marburg, where boating, sailing, kayaking, swimming at the pool complex, and warmwater fishing are the main draws. The park also has hiking and disc golf.
On-site amenities matter for families. Gettysburg Farm RV Campground offers a swimming pool, mini golf, farm animals to feed, a playground, and a country store, which keeps kids busy on non-touring days.

The prime RV window in south-central Pennsylvania runs from mid-April through late October. Gettysburg Farm RV Campground operates roughly from mid-April to late October, and Drummer Boy Camping Resort is typically closed from late November through the end of March. Codorus State Park campground is also a warm-season operation, opening in mid-April and closing around November 1.
Summer is peak. July weekends, the July 4 holiday, and the anniversary weekend of the Battle of Gettysburg in early July draw heavy demand, and sites near the battlefield can fill weeks or months in advance. Fall brings cooler nights, foliage color through October, and lighter crowds after Labor Day.
Winter camping options are limited. Most private resorts close by late October or early November, and shoulder-season travelers should confirm open dates directly with the campground before booking a site or rental.

I recommend this RV, driving this rig was simple and comfortable. The layout and design of the interior space was perfect and roomy. The dining set makes into a very nice long bed. I will rent this one again.

How to book campsites
Reservations for Codorus State Park campsites go through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system on ReserveAmerica. State-park sites can be booked up to eleven months in advance, and popular summer weekends often sell out early. Pets are only permitted in designated sites, so filter carefully at booking.
Private campgrounds each use their own systems. Gettysburg Farm RV Campground is a Thousand Trails property, with member and non-member options booked through the Thousand Trails site. Drummer Boy Camping Resort, Cedar Lake Resort, and Campground Island take direct reservations through their own websites or by phone.
For peak summer stays, book two to three months out at minimum, and longer for holiday weekends and the Gettysburg anniversary period in early July.
What to expect on arrival
Roads into the area are generally RV-friendly. U.S. 30, U.S. 15, and PA 94 handle the main flow of traffic, though the streets immediately around the Gettysburg battlefield can be narrow and congested on summer weekends. Plan approaches on the main highways rather than shortcuts through town.
Hookup availability varies. Larger private resorts offer full hookups, laundry, and pools, while Codorus State Park provides a mix of full-hookup, electric, and non-electric sites, with additional cottages, a yurt, and a waterfront lodge. Standard check-in at Gettysburg Farm is 4 p.m. and check-out is 11 a.m., which is typical for the area.
Cell coverage is generally reliable across Adams and York counties, and groceries, propane, and RV supplies are easy to find in Gettysburg, Hanover, and York.

visitpa.com/region/dutch-country-roads/adams-countyWhat license do I need to rent an RV in New Oxford?
Great news for first-timers: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Pennsylvania, no Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement required for the Class A, Class B, Class C, travel trailers, and fifth wheels available on RVezy. You'll need to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and RVezy confirms your identity right inside the platform during booking, so there's nothing extra to mail in. Visiting from abroad? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club before your trip. That's truly it, you're ready to roll Route 30 toward Gettysburg.
dmv.pa.gov/Driver-Services/Driver-Licensing/Pages/default.aspxIs my New Oxford RV rental protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RVezy booking in New Oxford comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right in, so you can hit Route 15 with confidence. The protection plan covers most damage to the vehicle, giving you real financial peace of mind without the complexity of arranging traditional insurance yourself. You choose your coverage tier during checkout (not the host), so you can pick the level that fits your trip, whether it is a weekend at Gettysburg Battlefield KOA or a longer Pennsylvania loop. Pro tip: take a quick walk-around video at pickup, it is a small habit that keeps deposit conversations simple later.

dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time to visit New Oxford in an RV?
The sweet spot for a New Oxford RV trip is late April through mid-October, with two standout windows. Late spring (May to early June) brings highs in the 70s, blooming dogwoods, and uncrowded battlefield trails. Fall (mid-September to late October) delivers crisp 60 to 70 degree days, peak Adams County apple harvest, and gorgeous foliage across South Mountain. July and August are warmer (mid-80s with humidity) and busiest around the July 1 to 3 Gettysburg battle anniversary. Winters dip into the 20s and 30s with occasional snow, so most private campgrounds close November through March. Insider tip: time your visit to the National Apple Harvest Festival in early October, just minutes from New Oxford.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in New Oxford a good idea?
Absolutely, New Oxford is one of the friendliest places in Pennsylvania to learn. Route 30 (the Lincoln Highway) and US-15 are wide, well-marked, and free of low-clearance surprises around town. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and the toilet, so you're never figuring it out alone. If you're nervous, choose a Class C motorhome or travel trailer with delivery, your host sets it up at the campground and you just enjoy the trip. Pro tip: do your first practice loop on the rural roads south of New Oxford toward Littlestown before heading into Gettysburg traffic.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat if I have a breakdown or issue during my New Oxford RV trip?
You are covered. Every RVezy rental in New Oxford includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is a phone call away whether you have a flat tire on US-30, run out of fuel near Hanover, or need a tow off the Pennsylvania Turnpike. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after every trip to help troubleshoot. Your host is usually your fastest first call for quirky questions, like how the awning latches, and most respond within minutes via the RVezy app. Save both numbers in your phone before pickup and you will travel with real peace of mind.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my New Oxford RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is generally welcome on an RV rental in Pennsylvania, and New Oxford is a fantastic base for multi-state loops. Popular routes include south to Antietam, MD (about 45 miles), down to Washington, DC or Shenandoah National Park, VA, east to Lancaster and Philadelphia, or north to the Finger Lakes in New York. Cross-border trips into Canada may be allowed with host approval and insurance confirmation, just message the host before booking. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage does not extend there. Confirm your route with your host so mileage and any one-way logistics are sorted upfront.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat's the fuel cost for an RV trip from New Oxford?
Budgeting is easier than you'd think. Expect 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for Class C motorhomes, 18 to 22 MPG for Class B campervans, and 12 to 16 MPG for the tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, and there are convenient fuel stops with truck-friendly pumps right along US-30 in New Oxford and on US-15 near Gettysburg. A 3-day, 200-mile loop to Gettysburg, Hershey, and Lancaster usually runs $80 to $140 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Hanover or York where prices tend to dip below Adams County.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near New Oxford?

For summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and the early-July Gettysburg battle anniversary, book Gettysburg Campground, the Gettysburg/Battlefield KOA, and Drummer Boy Camping Resort 3 to 6 months out. The Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) is nearby for east-west travel. Watch for occasional Amish horse-and-buggy traffic east toward Lancaster County, and summer thunderstorms that can roll in fast over South Mountain. Pro tip: download offline maps, cell signal can dip in the rural pockets between New Oxford and East Berlin.

Pro tip: book the cleaning add-on, it's affordable and lets you skip dump-station duty on your last morning.
fmcsa.dot.gov/How does payment and the security deposit work on my New Oxford RV rental?
It is straightforward and secure. You pay directly through RVezy at booking using a credit card, with no cash changing hands at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (the amount is shown clearly on the listing) and released after your trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. Easy steps, real peace of mind, and you are set to enjoy your Gettysburg adventure.
