Campgrounds near Oxford, Pennsylvania
Oxford sits in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania, within easy reach of Lancaster County's Amish farmland, the Maryland line, and the upper Chesapeake Bay. The town works well as a base for RV travelers because the surrounding private campgrounds, state-managed land, and family resorts are all within a short drive of one another along Route 1 and Route 472.
Closest to town, Oma's Family Campground sits in nearby Kirkwood, a wooded park with 88 sites on 30-amp service and select 50-amp full-hookup sites, open year round. South across the Mason-Dixon Line, Fair Hill Natural Resources Mgmt Area covers roughly 5,656 acres of former duPont farmland in Cecil County, Maryland, with primitive youth group camping and equestrian camping by reservation. To the north in Lancaster County, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Quarryville, PA is the family-resort option, while The Loose Caboose Campground and Roamers Retreat Campground offer quieter wooded and farmland sites along the Route 30 corridor.
Things to do near Oxford
Most trips from Oxford center on Lancaster County Amish Country, a short drive north on Route 472 or Route 30. Strasburg Rail Road, the Amish Village, Kitchen Kettle Village, and outlet shopping in Lancaster are all reachable within roughly thirty minutes. The Loose Caboose Campground sits close to the Strasburg Rail Road and along sections of the Enola Low Grade Trail, which is popular for walking and cycling.
To the south, Fair Hill Natural Resources Mgmt Area carries an extensive network of multi-use trails through woodland and meadow, plus stocked trout fishing on Big Elk Creek. The upper Chesapeake Bay, including Elk Neck State Park and the town of Havre de Grace, is about an hour by RV for boating, crabbing, and waterfront dining.

The Oxford area follows a four-season pattern typical of southeastern Pennsylvania. Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV travel, with mild days, cool nights, and active foliage. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources notes that spring and fall are the best times to visit Fair Hill because the weather is mild and the natural scenery is at its peak.
Summer is the peak booking window. Lancaster County family resorts, including Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Quarryville, PA, fill weeks ahead for Friday and Saturday arrivals between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Humidity is high and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Fall brings cooler nights, harvest events, and heavy weekend traffic around Amish Country attractions. October also draws large crowds to Fair Hill for the Maryland 5 Star equestrian event.
Winter is quiet but workable. Several local campgrounds, including Oma's Family Campground and The Loose Caboose Campground, stay open year round, with limited services and some sites carrying winter water.

How to book near Oxford

Oma's Family Campground, The Loose Caboose Campground, and Roamers Retreat Campground take bookings directly by phone or through their websites. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Quarryville, PA books through the Jellystone reservation system and tends to sell out summer weekends well in advance.

What to expect near Oxford
Sites in this region tend to be a mix of wooded and open farmland. Oma's Family Campground is shaded and wooded with 30-amp service standard and 50-amp full-hookup on select sites, plus a heated bathhouse with coin-operated showers and weekend game and bingo nights. The Loose Caboose Campground covers about 26 acres of secluded wooded sites with full hookups available, a children's playground, and a large pavilion. Roamers Retreat Campground offers full hookup sites along the Route 30 corridor.
Cell coverage is generally reliable across the area. Roads off Route 30 and Route 472 are narrow in places and shared with Amish horse-and-buggy traffic, so plan slower travel times than the map suggests.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Oxford%2C%20PennsylvaniaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Oxford, PA?
Good news for first-timers: your regular Class C driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Oxford, PA. Pennsylvania only requires a non-commercial Class A or Class B license for RVs with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and nearly every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on RVezy falls well below that threshold. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and ID verification happens securely on the platform. Visiting from outside the U.S.? An International Driving Permit from your home country, carried alongside your home license, is recommended before your trip.

Every RV rental booked through RVezy in Oxford, PA includes a renter protection plan along with 24/7 roadside assistance. The protection plan helps cover damage to the vehicle so you can focus on enjoying the rolling Chester County farmland instead of worrying about a stone chip from Route 1. Tip: review the plan options before confirming your booking so coverage is locked in for the whole trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Oxford RV trip?
You can book with confidence: RVezy sets the cancellation policy on every reservation (not the host), including a money-back grace period right after booking so you have breathing room if plans change. The refund amount depends on how far in advance you cancel and special circumstances, which can matter in southeastern Pennsylvania where summer thunderstorms and the occasional winter nor'easter roll through. You'll see the full policy in your RVezy account before confirming. Tip: book early to lock in the best rigs for Lancaster County summer weekends, knowing the cancellation window protects you if life gets in the way.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on my Oxford, PA RV rental?

Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see motorhomes and trailers where dogs are welcomed (sometimes with a small cleaning fee). Once on the road, Pennsylvania state parks like French Creek allow leashed pets in designated pet-friendly camping loops, and Nottingham County Park just outside Oxford has miles of dog-friendly trails through the unique Serpentine Barrens. Lums Pond State Park, about 30 minutes south in Delaware, also has pet-friendly loops. Tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet rules, then pack a long leash for those Brandywine Creek walks.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Pages/Pets.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Oxford?
Yes, RV delivery is one of the most popular options for first-time renters in Oxford, and many RVezy hosts will drive the rig to your campsite or driveway, then set it up and walk you through every system. This is a great option if you're heading to Country Acres Campground in Gordonville, Oma's Family Campground in Kirkwood, or French Creek State Park about 40 miles north, because you skip towing and driving entirely. Use the Delivery filter on the search page to see each host's delivery radius and per-mile fee. Tip: book delivery plus full setup if it's your first time renting an RV, so you arrive to a ready-to-camp home base.

dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/FrenchCreekStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Oxford, PA?
The sweet spot for RV camping Oxford is mid-May through mid-October, when daytime highs run from the comfortable 70s in spring and fall to the mid-80s in July and August. Late September and early October are arguably the best of all: temperatures drop into the 60s, humidity eases, fall foliage spreads across Chester County and Lancaster, and campground rates often dip from peak. Spring (May to early June) is gorgeous for Longwood Gardens (about 25 miles east) and Brandywine Valley wineries. Summers are humid with occasional thunderstorms; winters are cold with snowfall. Tip: book a shoulder-season trip in late September to catch peak foliage with smaller crowds.
weather.gov/phi/I've never driven an RV. Will I be okay renting one in Oxford?
You'll be just fine. First time renting an RV is easier than people expect, especially around Oxford where roads are wide, traffic is light, and the rolling Chester County landscape offers gentle terrain to practice on. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, covering propane, water, electrical systems, and backing into a campsite. You can also message your host with questions before booking. For maximum confidence, start with a Class B campervan or smaller Class C motorhome (under 25 feet), which drive much like a tall SUV. Tip: plan an easy first-night stop at Country Acres Campground, about 25 minutes from Oxford, to settle in before heading farther.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if my RV breaks down during the trip?
You're covered: every RVezy booking in Oxford, PA includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you're at Muddy Run Park, cruising US-1, or making the Hersheypark run on US-322. The roadside team can dispatch a tow, tire change, jump-start, lockout service, or fuel delivery. Your host is also typically available by message for quick questions about the rig. Tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave Oxford, and snap a photo of the rig's VIN sticker so you can share details with roadside techs quickly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Oxford, PA RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Oxford easily crosses into Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and beyond. Most RVezy hosts welcome interstate travel, and your protection plan follows you across U.S. state lines. Popular runs include Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland (about 2.5 hours south), the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. Travel into Canada or Mexico generally isn't permitted on RVezy rentals, so confirm with the host and RVezy support before planning any cross-border route. Tip: a classic Oxford loop runs south to Chesapeake Bay, then back via the Brandywine Valley for easy, scenic driving.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on my Oxford RV trip?
Fuel is easy to plan for around Oxford. Class B campervans usually get 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 mpg, and larger Class A rigs run 6 to 10 mpg. Towing a travel trailer with a pickup typically gets 9 to 13 mpg. Pennsylvania gas prices tend to run slightly above the national average, so a 300-mile loop from Oxford to Gettysburg and back in a Class C would cost roughly $90 to $130 in fuel at current prices. There are Wawa and Sheetz stations on US-1 near Oxford for easy fill-ups. Tip: cross into Delaware (about 15 minutes south) for typically cheaper fuel before a long trip.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Oxford?
For summer weekends (June through August) and peak fall foliage in October, book 2 to 3 months ahead. Lancaster County campgrounds like Country Acres, Oma's Family Campground, and Jellystone Quarryville fill quickly. Pennsylvania state parks like French Creek can be reserved up to 11 months in advance through the official DCNR reservation system, and that head start matters for holiday weekends. For midweek shoulder-season trips in May or late September, you can often score sites a week or two out. Tip: if your top pick is sold out, check back often, since campground turnover happens regularly and prime French Creek sites with hookups often reopen.
