Campgrounds near Pleasant Hill, Pennsylvania
Pleasant Hill is a census-designated place in central Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, bordered by the city of Lebanon and the borough of Cleona. It sits along U.S. Route 422, roughly 12 miles east of Hershey and about 26 miles east of Harrisburg, which puts most Pennsylvania Dutch Country attractions within a short drive of the RV.
The surrounding region is well established for RV travel, with a cluster of private campgrounds serving families visiting Hersheypark, Amish Country in Lancaster County, and the Appalachian Trail corridor along Blue Mountain to the north. Closest options include Hershey RV and Camping Resort in Lebanon and PA Dutch Country RV Resort in Manheim, both large Thousand Trails properties.
Other nearby choices include Pinch Pond Family Campground, Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA Journey off Interstate 81, and Camp Swatara at the foot of Blue Mountain in northwestern Berks County. Together these give renters a mix of resort-style parks with pools and activities, and quieter rural sites.
Things to do near Pleasant Hill
Hersheypark, Hershey's Chocolate World, and ZooAmerica sit about 12 miles west and anchor most family trips. Hershey RV and Camping Resort is set on 200 acres of rolling farmland about six miles from Chocolate World, with a small fishing lake on site. PA Dutch Country RV Resort places renters in the heart of Lancaster County for Amish farm tours, quilt and craft shops, and homestyle Pennsylvania Dutch restaurants.
Outdoor options include Swatara State Park, a 3,520-acre park in Lebanon and Schuylkill counties with hiking, biking, and paddling along Swatara Creek, plus direct access to the Appalachian Trail via the historic Waterville Bridge. The park's crushed-stone Swatara Rail Trail runs roughly ten miles through the creek valley and links to a wider trail network used by Camp Swatara guests.

Most private RV campgrounds in the Pleasant Hill area operate as a warm-season loop rather than year-round. Hershey RV and Camping Resort is generally open from early May through late October, and PA Dutch Country RV Resort runs a similar mid-April through late-October window. Swimming pools, splash pads, and lake activities at the region's family campgrounds typically run from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Summer is peak season, driven by Hersheypark crowds and Lancaster County tourism. Weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day fill earliest, and holiday weekends carry longer minimum-stay requirements. Spring and fall bring mild weather, thinner crowds, and better site availability, along with fall foliage across Blue Mountain in October.
Winter is quiet. Publicly accessible camping is limited to a handful of year-round private sites and state park facilities, and Swatara State Park itself has no developed campground, only primitive Appalachian Trail camping. Renters traveling from December through March should confirm open dates directly with the campground.

How to book campgrounds near Pleasant Hill
The two closest Thousand Trails properties, Hershey RV and Camping Resort and PA Dutch Country RV Resort, take reservations online or by phone through Thousand Trails and RVontheGo. From April 15 through September 15, individual reservations are capped at 14 nights per site, with back-to-back stays allowed if the site changes between bookings. Non-members can book by purchasing a Camping Pass.
Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA Journey books through the KOA site and app. Pinch Pond Family Campground and Camp Swatara accept reservations directly through their own websites and offices. For Hersheypark weekends and fall foliage dates, booking 8 to 12 weeks out is advisable; walk-up availability is rare in summer.
What to expect on the ground
Sites in this region are generally level with full or partial hookups, and the larger resorts near Hershey and Manheim offer 30 and 50 amp service, sewer, laundry, camp stores, and pools. Wooded and open pull-through sites are both common, though shade varies site to site. Check-in at Hershey RV and Camping Resort is noon for RV sites and 4 p.m. for rentals, with an 11 a.m. checkout.
Expect family-focused amenities during summer weekends: themed events, mini golf, splash pads, and organized activities. Cell service is generally reliable across Lebanon and Lancaster counties. Wi-Fi at private parks is available but often bandwidth-limited, so renters relying on streaming should plan for a personal hotspot as backup.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Pleasant Hill, PA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Pleasant Hill, PA?
Renting an RV in Pleasant Hill is more affordable than most travelers expect, with nightly rates typically ranging from $95 to $175 for travel trailers and campervans, and $185 to $325 for larger Class A and Class C motorhomes. Because RVezy is a peer-to-peer marketplace, hosts set their own pricing, so you can filter by budget to find a cheap RV rental in Pleasant Hill that fits your trip. Booking midweek or during the shoulder months of April, May, September, and October usually saves you 15 to 25 percent versus peak Hersheypark summer weekends. Pro tip: bundle host add-ons like camp chairs, linens, and a stocked kitchen kit upfront rather than buying gear you'll only use once.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Pleasant%20Hill%2C%20PennsylvaniaWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Pleasant Hill, PA?
Good news: your regular Class C Pennsylvania driver's license (or the equivalent from your home state or country) is all you need to drive virtually every RV rental in Pleasant Hill. Pennsylvania only requires a Non-Commercial Class A or Class B license for rigs with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,001 pounds, and the Class A, Class C, campervan, and travel trailer rentals on RVezy fall well below that threshold. You must be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and ID verification happens right inside the platform during checkout. Visiting from overseas? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home license and you're road-ready.
pa.gov/agencies/penndot/driver-vehicle-services.htmlWhat protection and roadside assistance is included with my Pleasant Hill RV rental?
Every RV rental in Pleasant Hill booked through RVezy comes with a protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right in, so you can hit Route 322 or I-81 with confidence. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your coverage level (not the host) during checkout, with tiers that scale from standard to premium peace of mind. Roadside help covers flat tires, tow service, lockouts, and battery jumps anywhere in Lebanon County and beyond. Tip: review the available coverage tiers on the booking page and pick the level that matches how far you're traveling for your Pennsylvania RV trip.

Booking an RV rental in Pleasant Hill is low-risk because RVezy (not the individual host) sets and manages the cancellation policy, which includes a money-back grace period right after you book. After that window, refund eligibility depends on how far in advance of your trip you cancel and whether unusual circumstances like severe weather come into play. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy refunds the guest or provides travel credits so your trip stays on track. Pro tip: lock in your dates early for Hersheypark or Mount Gretna festival weekends, knowing you have flexibility built into your booking.

Pleasant Hill is surrounded by leash-friendly adventure: Memorial Lake State Park in Grantville has a shoreline loop dogs love, Swatara State Park's rail-trail is shaded and flat, and the Appalachian Trail crossings near Lickdale are dog-approved. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, your pup's vaccination records, and a tie-out for relaxed evenings at the campsite.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/MemorialLakeStatePark/Pages/default.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Pleasant Hill?
Yes, RV delivery in Pleasant Hill is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if you're new to RVing. Many hosts in the Lebanon, Hershey, and Harrisburg area will tow or drive the RV directly to your campsite at Hersheypark Camping Resort, Jonestown / Hershey KOA, or a private property and handle full setup, including leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and a complete walkthrough. Delivery fees usually run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's home base, with some offering flat rates within 25 miles. Filter listings by Delivery to see who offers it, then message the host to confirm your campground address. Pro tip: book a delivered rental and you can drive your own car for day trips to Hersheypark.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106674-Delivery-optionsHow far can I travel from Pleasant Hill, PA on a typical RV rental?

If you're eyeing a longer Pennsylvania RV trip, look for the Unlimited Mileage filter or simply message the host to negotiate extra miles upfront, which is almost always cheaper than overage fees later.

September and October are arguably the sweet spot: crisp 65 to 75 degree days, fewer crowds, and stunning fall foliage across the Blue Mountain ridges. Winter rentals are available too for cozy off-season getaways. Pro tip: book a fall RV camping trip in Pleasant Hill to catch peak foliage in mid-October at Swatara State Park.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Is renting an RV in Pleasant Hill beginner-friendly?
You're going to love it, first time renting an RV is easier in Pleasant Hill than almost anywhere else in Pennsylvania. The terrain is gently rolling rather than mountainous, and the local roads around Lebanon County, Route 422, and Route 322 are wide, well-maintained, and rarely congested outside of Hersheypark traffic. Every RVezy host walks you through a personalized orientation at pickup, covering everything from leveling and slide-outs to the propane system, generator, and dump procedures. Many hosts also send a video tutorial before your trip. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Pleasant Hill for your first trip, they drive much more like a large van than an 18-wheeler.

Your host is also just a message away through the RVezy app and can troubleshoot most small issues (a tripped breaker, a stuck slide, a finicky water pump) in minutes. Pro tip: take a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup so you have it ready if you ever need to call for help.

Yes, an RV road trip from Pleasant Hill across state lines is one of the most popular itineraries on RVezy, and you don't need any special paperwork to cross into Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, West Virginia, Virginia, or Ohio. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the specific host and their insurance, so message the host directly through the listing to confirm before booking. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage doesn't extend there. Popular multi-state runs include Pleasant Hill to Niagara Falls (about 4 hours), Pleasant Hill to the Outer Banks (about 6 hours), and Pleasant Hill to Acadia National Park (about 10 hours).

To avoid any hold-up, take dated photos of the interior and exterior at pickup and again at drop-off. Pro tip: return the RV clean, with empty tanks and the fuel level you got it at, and your full deposit is released within a few business days.
