Campgrounds and RV parks near Port Trevorton, PA

Port Trevorton sits along the west bank of the Susquehanna River in Snyder County, roughly midway between Harrisburg and Williamsport on the US 11/15 corridor. The village is small and rural, but it puts RV travelers within a short drive of several private campgrounds, the river's island water trail, and Penns Creek. Chapman Township surrounds the community, and the river here is wide, shallow, and dotted with wooded islands. Most overnight options in the area are privately owned RV parks rather than state park campgrounds. Ferryboat Campsites in Liverpool sits directly across the river and runs a large riverfront operation, while Lake Heron Retreat occupies wooded acreage in Perry County a short drive south. Penn Avon Campground, Little Mexico Campground on Penns Creek, and Fantasy Island Campground round out the nearby choices. The region works well as a base for river paddling, warm-water fishing, and day trips to Knoebels Amusement Resort, Selinsgrove, and the Millersburg Ferry. Roads are two-lane and rural, and larger rigs should plan routes carefully.

Private campgrounds in the area take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Ferryboat Campsites, Little Mexico Campground, and Lake Heron Retreat all use online booking systems, and holiday weekends at the larger riverfront parks can sell out months in advance. For a summer Saturday, aim to book by late winter. Pennsylvania state parks and state forests use a single reservation system operated by DCNR. Most sites open for booking eleven months in advance to the day, at noon Eastern Time, through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests reservation website or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. A two-night minimum applies to summer weekend reservations, and the maximum stay is fourteen nights. A limited number of first-come, first-served sites exist in the state system, but relying on walk-ups during peak weekends is risky.
