Reamstown camping overview
Reamstown sits in northeastern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in the Cocalico Valley between Denver, Ephrata, and Adamstown. The area is the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, defined by rolling farmland, Amish and Mennonite farms, antique markets, and easy access to the PA Turnpike at exit 286. RV travelers use Reamstown as a base for touring Lancaster County attractions while staying in quieter countryside north of the city of Lancaster. Private campgrounds dominate the immediate area, with a mix of small family-run parks and larger resorts. Woodcrest Retreat sits on 110 acres of secluded woodlands in Ephrata, while Dutch Cousin Campground offers a historic camping experience as the oldest operating campground in Lancaster County. Shady Grove Campground, Red Run Campground, and Hickory Run Family Camping Resort round out the nearby options, giving visitors a range of hookup levels, cabin rentals, and site sizes to choose from.
Things to do near Reamstown
The Reamstown area combines Amish-country touring with outdoor recreation. Antique shopping is a defining draw, with markets around Adamstown and Denver drawing collectors on weekends. Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, north of town, offers hiking, birding, and a well-known snow goose migration each late winter. The Ephrata Cloister preserves an 18th-century religious community and is a short drive from most campgrounds. Farm markets such as Shady Maple and the Green Dragon Farmers Market are popular stops for produce and local food. Families staying longer often day-trip south to Dutch Wonderland, Sight and Sound Theatres, and Strasburg Rail Road, or west toward Hershey. Refreshing Mountain, close to Stevens, offers zip-lining and ropes courses for active groups.

Camping in Reamstown follows a clear seasonal rhythm. Most private campgrounds run a full season from spring through late fall, with peak demand from Memorial Day through Labor Day and again during fall foliage in October. Shady Grove Campground operates from April through the end of October, which is typical for the smaller parks in the area. Dutch Cousin Campground stays open year-round, as does Woodcrest Retreat, though winter site availability is limited and some amenities close down. Summer weekends fill quickly at the family resorts, so booking several weeks ahead is prudent. Fall brings cooler nights, harvest activities on nearby farms, and heavy weekend traffic around the antique markets. Spring can be wet and muddy, but shoulder-season rates and open sites make April and May attractive for RVers who want quiet stays before the summer crowds arrive.

How to book campgrounds near Reamstown
Every campground on this list is privately operated, so reservations go through each park directly rather than a state or federal portal. Dutch Cousin takes bookings through its website and by phone, and Woodcrest Retreat handles reservations by phone or email through its office. Shady Grove, Red Run, and Hickory Run Family Camping Resort all book directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer holiday weekends and October foliage weekends are the tightest windows; reserving one to three months ahead is common for full-hookup and pull-through sites. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Woodcrest Retreat requires a two-night minimum on weekends and three nights on holiday weekends. Cabin rentals typically require longer minimum stays than RV sites.
What to expect at Reamstown campgrounds
Sites in the Reamstown area range from primitive tent spots to big-rig-friendly full-hookup sites. Shady Grove offers roughly 118 sites with 112 full hookups, 20/30/50-amp service, a pool, laundry, and a maximum RV length near 60 feet. Dutch Cousin provides pull-thru sites for big rigs with 30- and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, a dump station, laundry, and a playground. Woodcrest's sites all have water and electric, its B sites add sewer, and amenities include a dump station, bath house, playground, and camp store. Terrain is gently rolling with a mix of shaded and open sites, and many parks host seasonal campers, so transient availability can be tighter than total site counts suggest.
