Campgrounds near Richland, Pennsylvania
Richland sits in Lebanon County in south-central Pennsylvania, within easy RV range of the Lebanon Valley, Berks County farmland, and the Blue Mountain ridge to the north. The borough puts renters close to Hershey, Lancaster's Amish country, and Reading without the congestion of those larger hubs.
Most sites in the area are privately operated family resorts geared toward RV travelers, with public land to the north offering day-use recreation rather than developed camping. Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Eagles Peak, Cocalico Creek Campground, Starlite Camping Resort, and Hickory Run Family Camping Resort all sit within a short drive of Richland and cater to hookup RVs, while Camp Swatara offers a quieter, group-oriented setting.
Camping facilities in the region typically operate seasonally, with most open from April through October or early November. Renters planning shoulder-season trips should confirm open dates directly with each park before booking transport.
Things to do near Richland
Swatara State Park spans 3,520 acres between Blue Mountain and Second Mountain and offers more than 34 miles of trails, historic landmarks and year-round outdoor recreation. Visitors can hike a section of the Appalachian Trail, bike the scenic Swatara Rail Trail, or paddle along the 60-mile Swatara Creek Water Trail. Blue Marsh Lake to the east adds swimming, boating, and additional trail miles.
Families staying at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Eagles Peak or Hickory Run Family Camping Resort typically split time between on-site amenities such as pools, mini-golf, and playgrounds and off-site day trips to Hersheypark, the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, and Lancaster County Amish farm tours. Anglers can fish Swatara Creek and area ponds with a valid Pennsylvania license, and paddlers will find several public access points along the creek.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in this part of Pennsylvania. Daytime temperatures are mild, humidity is lower, and fall foliage along the Blue Mountain ridge peaks in mid-October. Spring can bring heavy rain days, so renters should pack for muddy sites and check creek levels before paddling.
Summer is the peak booking season. Private resorts fill quickly around Fourth of July weekend, Renaissance Faire weekends, and Labor Day. Summer highs typically reach the low to mid 80s Fahrenheit, making pool facilities at campgrounds valuable during July and August. Afternoon thunderstorms are common.
Winter is quiet. Most private facilities in the region operate seasonally, so renters planning a December or January trip will have limited options and should confirm winter hookups before arrival. Swatara State Park itself is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset, for day use.

How to book campgrounds near Richland
Private resorts near Richland, including Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Eagles Peak, Cocalico Creek Campground, Starlite Camping Resort, Hickory Run Family Camping Resort, and Camp Swatara, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Holiday weekends and Renaissance Faire dates should be booked several months in advance, especially for pull-through and full-hookup sites that fit larger rental RVs.
Swatara State Park itself has no reservable facilities, so overnight stays in the area rely on private resorts. Renters willing to drive farther can book Pennsylvania state park campsites such as French Creek or Hickory Run State Park through ReserveAmerica. Pennsylvania state park campsites can be reserved up to 11 months in advance via ReserveAmerica. Confirm rig-length limits, hookup type, and pet policies at the time of booking.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain around Richland is rolling farmland transitioning to forested ridges north of Interstate 78. Most private campgrounds have paved or gravel interior roads, level pads, and full or partial hookups suitable for Class C and travel-trailer rentals. Larger Class A rigs should confirm site length and turning radius in advance.
Cell service is generally reliable in the valley but drops off in the Blue Mountain area, so downloading maps in advance is wise. Ticks are common in wooded areas from spring through fall, so pack repellent and check after hikes. Visitors heading to Swatara State Park for the day should plan to pack out any trash, as facilities in the park are limited.
