Soudersburg camping overview
Soudersburg is a small village along Route 30 in eastern Lancaster County, in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country. It sits within a dense cluster of family RV parks that serve travelers visiting Amish farmland, the Strasburg Rail Road, and Dutch Wonderland. Most sites in the immediate area are private, full-hookup parks rather than public land, so RV renters typically choose between resort-style campgrounds within a short drive of the village.
The closest options include Mill Bridge Village and Camp Resort, Country Acres Campground, Flory's Cottages and Camping, Beacon Hill Camping, and Old Mill Stream Camping Manor. Several sit within a few miles of Soudersburg and provide pull-through sites suitable for larger rigs, plus tent areas and cabins.
Because the terrain is gently rolling farmland rather than mountain wilderness, access roads are easy for first-time RV renters. Lancaster city, outlet shopping at Tanger, and Hersheypark are all reachable as day trips from a base camp near the village.
Things to do near Soudersburg
The area is built around family attractions and Amish-country touring. Travelers can ride the Strasburg Rail Road, explore Amish farmlands by scooter or horse and buggy, and visit Lancaster Central Market, the Fulton Theatre, or Dutch Wonderland, with over 35 attractions, rides, and events. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and the Choo Choo Barn sit within a couple of miles of the village.
Outdoor time centers on backroad cycling through farm country, fishing small streams, and visiting seasonal produce stands and farmers markets. Families with younger kids often pair a campground stay with Dutch Wonderland, since several parks sit directly adjacent to it.
Day trips reach Hersheypark, Gettysburg, and Longwood Gardens, all roughly an hour's drive from the Soudersburg area.

Peak camping season runs from late spring through October. Summer brings warm, humid weather and the fullest schedule of attractions, farm tours, and Strasburg Rail Road departures. Weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day are the busiest, and family-oriented parks near Dutch Wonderland fill first.
Fall is widely regarded as the prime season for the region. Amish Country peaks in October, with abundant farmers markets and local produce. Foliage typically colors mid to late October, and cooler nights make campfires comfortable.
Spring is quieter, with variable weather and muddy shoulder-season conditions early on, but wildflowers and farm activity pick up by May. Winter camping options are limited: a handful of Lancaster parks stay open year round, including Old Mill Stream Camping Manor, which is rare in the northeast for being open year round, while most others close between late October and early April.

How to book a campground near Soudersburg
Nearly all campgrounds near Soudersburg are privately owned, so reservations are made directly through each park's website or phone line rather than through a state or federal system like ReserveAmerica or Recreation.gov. Many also list availability through aggregator platforms such as Campspot and Good Sam.
For summer weekends and any date overlapping Dutch Wonderland's peak season, book several months ahead. Fall foliage weekends in October are the hardest dates to secure and often sell out by late summer. Holiday weekends, especially Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day, typically require minimum-night stays.
When reserving with a rental RV, confirm the site's length, hookup type (30 vs 50 amp), and whether the park allows generators and pets. Ask about big-rig access if the coach is over 35 feet, since some older Lancaster County parks have tight interior roads.
What to expect
Campgrounds in the Soudersburg area lean toward the resort-style, family-friendly end of the spectrum. Expect pools, playgrounds, mini-golf, planned weekend activities, and camp stores rather than backcountry quiet. Old Mill Stream Camping Manor features shaded RV sites with full hook-ups, family cabins, and tent camping sites, which is representative of the area.
Sites are generally grassy or gravel with mature shade trees. Cell service is reliable, and grocery stores, diners, and farm markets are minutes away along Route 30 and Route 340. Traffic on Route 30 can back up on summer weekends near the amusement-park corridor.
The surrounding roads pass working Amish farms, so expect horse-and-buggy traffic and slower travel on secondary routes. Quiet hours are enforced at most parks.

Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: for a classic East Coast loop, pair Lancaster County with Gettysburg and Shenandoah National Park, it's one of the most scenic campervan rental Soudersburg itineraries.

Slow down on hills, give buggies wide clearance when passing, and stay alert at dusk when reflectors can be hard to see. Avoid narrow covered bridges unless your RV clears the posted height (most are 9 to 10 feet). Pro tip: record a quick walk-around video with your host at pickup and drop-off, it documents condition on both ends and is the best way to ensure your full deposit is released promptly after your Lancaster County adventure.
