Campgrounds and RV parks near South Waverly, PA

South Waverly sits at the northern edge of Bradford County, Pennsylvania, along the New York state line where the Chemung River meets the Susquehanna. It anchors the Penn-York Valley, a group of contiguous communities including Waverly, New York, Sayre, and Athens. The location gives RV travellers quick access to campgrounds on both sides of the border, plus the Finger Lakes region to the north and the Endless Mountains to the south. Within roughly an hour's drive, options range from small private parks to established state campgrounds. Gardner Hill Campground and Pinecreek Campground offer nearby private-park stays, while Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground sits south in the foothills of the Endless Mountains. For state-run sites, the 372-acre Newtown Battlefield State Park features 18 campsites accommodating tents and trailers up to 40 feet, along with 5 rustic cabins, and Robert H Treman State Park lies west near Ithaca. Interstate 86 and U.S. Route 220 run through the valley, making rig access straightforward from either direction.

State-park sites in New York use ReserveAmerica. Reservations at Newtown Battlefield are available up to 9 months in advance, with a 1-night minimum stay for campsites, a 2-night minimum for cabins, and a maximum of 14 consecutive nights. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival for campsites, and walk-ins are permitted on campsites only. Pennsylvania state-park sites use the state's own reservation system, which also opens bookings months ahead. Private parks such as Gardner Hill Campground, Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground, and Pinecreek Campground take reservations directly, often by phone or through their own websites. Holiday weekends and full-hookup pull-throughs should be booked well ahead.
