Campgrounds and RV parks near Towanda, PA

Towanda sits along the Susquehanna River in Bradford County, in Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains region. The area combines river frontage, ridge-and-valley forest, and a network of small state parks and private campgrounds within roughly a one-hour drive, making it a practical base for RV travelers exploring northern Pennsylvania. Private campgrounds within reach of town include Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground in Rome, Falling Waters Campground home of Buttermilk Falls in Shunk, Elk Creek Escape, and Gardner Hill Campground. These offer a mix of full-hookup RV sites, wooded tent areas, and cabins. Falling Waters, for example, has 64 sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups, plus big-rig pull-throughs and cabin rentals. Pine Cradle Lake sits on 73 acres around an 18-acre lake with roughly 200 sites, a heated pool, and 30/50-amp full hookups. For a public-land option, Worlds End State Park lies southwest of Towanda in a narrow S-shaped valley of Loyalsock Creek, surrounded by the Loyalsock State Forest. Its 70-site tent and trailer campground and 19 rustic cabins draw campers looking for creek access, hiking, and cooler summer temperatures at elevation.

Worlds End State Park uses the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system operated through ReserveAmerica. Sites and cabins can be booked online or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Reservations must be made at least three days ahead of arrival and can be placed up to 11 months in advance, so summer weekends and holiday periods should be secured early. Private campgrounds in the area, including Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground, Falling Waters Campground home of Buttermilk Falls, Elk Creek Escape, and Gardner Hill Campground, are booked directly through each campground's website or by phone. For big rigs, confirm site length, amperage, and whether the site is pull-through when reserving, as many wooded sites in the Endless Mountains are sized for smaller units.
