Camping near West Milton, Pennsylvania
West Milton sits in Union County along the West Branch Susquehanna River in central Pennsylvania, roughly halfway between Lewisburg and Milton and within a short drive of Williamsport. The area works well as an RV base because it combines river access with quick reach to Bald Eagle State Forest, Raymond B. Winter State Park, and the amusement corridor around Knoebels in Elysburg.
Private campgrounds in the immediate area cover a range of styles. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Milton and the second Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort location run family-focused resorts with pools and themed activities, while Williamsport South/Nittany Mountain KOA Holiday offers standard full-hookup RV sites north of town. Steel Steeds Motorcycle Campground caters to riders, and Riverside Campground provides waterfront sites for travelers who want a quieter stay.
Most RV travelers use West Milton as a touring base: mornings on the river or local rail trails, afternoons at Knoebels or Bucknell University in Lewisburg, and evenings back at the campground.
Things to do around West Milton
The West Branch Susquehanna River anchors most outdoor plans. Paddling, tubing, and smallmouth bass fishing are common, and public access points sit within a few miles of town. Milton State Park occupies an 82-acre island in the river between Milton and West Milton, with day-use picnic areas, soccer fields, short trails, and a boat launch.
Raymond B. Winter State Park, about 18 miles west of Lewisburg on PA Route 192 inside Bald Eagle State Forest, has swimming at spring-fed Halfway Lake and forested hiking loops. Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg is roughly 30 miles south and offers free admission with pay-per-ride pricing, making it an easy family day trip.
For rainy days, Bucknell University's galleries in Lewisburg and the Community Arts Center in Williamsport give indoor options, and the region's covered bridges make for a low-key driving loop.

Central Pennsylvania has four distinct seasons, and most private campgrounds near West Milton operate roughly April through October. State parks like Raymond B. Winter stay open year-round for day use, with the modern campground running on a seasonal schedule.
Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel. Summer brings warm, humid days with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and July and August fill quickly at family resorts, especially the two weeks of the Little League World Series in South Williamsport in late August. Fall foliage typically peaks in mid-October across the ridge-and-valley country west of town and draws heavy weekend traffic to state parks.
Winter is cold, with regular snow and freezing overnight lows. Most private parks close or reduce services, and state forest roads are often not plowed, so cold-weather RV travelers should confirm road access and water availability before booking.

How to book campgrounds near West Milton
Private parks near West Milton, including the two Jellystone locations, Williamsport South/Nittany Mountain KOA Holiday, Steel Steeds Motorcycle Campground, and Riverside Campground, take reservations directly through their own websites or brand booking systems such as KOA and Jellystone. Holiday weekends, Little League World Series week in South Williamsport, and Knoebels-adjacent summer weekends fill first, so booking two to three months out is prudent for peak dates.
For Pennsylvania state park and state forest sites, reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance for most state park and state forest overnight stays, through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Reservations website or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Pennsylvania opens reservations 11 months in advance at 12:00 PM (noon) Eastern Time. The noon release time is unusual among state park systems, so set a reminder for the noon release.
What to expect on the ground
Sites near West Milton range from full-hookup pull-throughs at KOA and Jellystone resorts to simpler electric-only or tent-oriented sites at smaller riverside parks. Rig-length limits vary, and some rural sites suit smaller trailers only, so confirm length, hookup type, and slide clearance before arrival.
Cell coverage is generally reliable along the US-15 and I-80 corridors and thinner inside Bald Eagle State Forest. Grocery, propane, and dump stations are easy to find in Milton, Lewisburg, and Selinsgrove.
Pennsylvania asks campers to use local firewood rather than bringing wood from other areas, since transported wood can spread pest insects and diseases. Most parks sell bundles on site. Quiet hours, pet-leash rules, and site-occupancy limits are standard across state parks.

Most hosts happily allow travel throughout Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, and beyond, popular routes include the Finger Lakes (about 3 hours north), Niagara Falls (around 4 hours 30 minutes), Washington DC (3 hours 30 minutes), and Acadia-bound trips up I-80 east. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection package, so message the host before booking to confirm and arrange any paperwork. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage doesn't extend there. cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from West Milton?
Fuel is the biggest variable in your trip budget, but it's easy to plan for. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average due to state fuel taxes. Expect roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, 15 to 20 MPG for a campervan (Class B), and 12 to 18 MPG for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. For a 300-mile loop from West Milton to Ricketts Glen and back, budget roughly $100 to $180 in fuel for a typical Class C. Pro tip: fuel up at the larger truck-friendly stations along I-80 (exit 210 New Columbia or exit 215 Lewisburg) where RVs have room to maneuver and diesel pumps are plentiful.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near West Milton?
The earlier the better, especially for summer and fall weekends. Pennsylvania state park campgrounds, including Raymond B. Winter, Little Pine, and Ricketts Glen, open reservations on a rolling 11-month window through the state's reservation system, and prime summer Friday/Saturday sites can vanish within hours of release. Private parks like Yogi Bear's Jellystone at Milton and the Williamsport South KOA usually open bookings 12 months ahead and fill quickly around the Bloomsburg Fair (late September) and Knoebels' Hallo-Fun weekends. For a mid-week September stay, even 3 to 4 weeks ahead is often fine. Pro tip: book your RV rental in West Milton, PA first, then chase campsites, because flexible rig delivery makes it easy to match wherever you score a reservation.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the local driving conditions like around West Milton?
Driving in the West Milton area is some of the most relaxed RV territory in the Northeast. US-15 (Susquehanna Beltway) is a four-lane divided highway with gentle grades, and I-80 east-west is just minutes north, both very RV-friendly. Once you head into the ridges toward Raymond B. Winter or the PA Wilds, expect winding two-lane roads with steeper grades (5 to 8 percent in spots) and the occasional Amish horse-and-buggy in Union County, so cruise at posted limits. Winter brings snow and occasional ice from December through early March. Pro tip: watch for the low-clearance railroad underpass on PA-642 closer to downtown Milton (around 11 feet 6 inches), and stick to US-15 and PA-405 if you're driving a tall Class A.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/511PA.aspxWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near West Milton?

Private parks like Yogi Bear's Jellystone at Milton and Williamsport South KOA offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer at the site, free Wi-Fi, dump stations, laundry, hot showers, pools, and camp stores. Pennsylvania state parks (Raymond B. Winter, Little Pine, Worlds End) typically provide electric hookups, central potable-water fill stations, and dump stations on the way out, but rarely full hookups. The handy dump and freshwater fill at the Milton/West Milton area can also be found at Jellystone for a small fee if you're not staying overnight. Pro tip: confirm your rig's amp service with the host so you arrive with the right adapter for that perfect riverside site.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks.htmlWhat's inside a typical RV rental in West Milton?

RVezy hosts love making your trip easy. pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/things-to-do/camping.htmlHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple, secure, and 100 percent online: you pay through the RVezy platform when you book your RV rental Pennsylvania trip, so there's no cash, no checks, and no awkward handoff with the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) shortly before your trip starts and released a few days after return assuming everything is in good shape. To avoid any deposit hiccups, snap photos of the rig at pickup and dropoff, return it with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if your host requests it (or pay the small dump add-on instead). Pro tip: keep all communication in the RVezy app, so you're fully protected by the platform's payment guarantee.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in West Milton during the winter?
Yes, and winter RVing in Central PA can be magical if you pick the right rig. Several RVezy hosts in the West Milton area list four-season motorhomes and travel trailers with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, dual-pane windows, and high-output propane furnaces, perfect for chasing snow-dusted ridges in Bald Eagle State Forest. Daytime highs from December to February typically range from 28 to 40°F, with overnight lows in the teens and 20s°F. Look for campgrounds open year-round, like Yogi Bear's Jellystone at Milton, which keeps electric hookups available for winter campers. Pro tip: message the host to confirm winterization, ask about shore-power 30-amp heaters, and pack extra propane, your morning coffee with a frosty river view at Milton State Park is worth it.
