How much does it cost to rent an RV in La Malbaie?
RV rental in La Malbaie is affordable for such a stunning Charlevoix destination. Travel trailers typically run around $150 to $200 per night, while Class C motorhomes average about $225 to $300 per night, with many hosts offering weekly and monthly discounts. To find a cheap RV rental La Malbaie travelers love, try the shoulder months of late May, early June, or September when rates dip and the scenery is at its peak. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book on RVezy and message hosts directly about multi-night discounts. You will often unlock savings that are not advertised on the listing page.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=La%20Malbaie%2C%20QuebecWhat license do I need to rent an RV in La Malbaie, Quebec?
Good news: a regular Class 5 Quebec driver's license (or equivalent from your home province, state, or country) is all you need to rent an RV in La Malbaie. No special RV endorsement or commercial license is required for the Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, or travel trailers you will find on RVezy. Approved renters are generally 25 or older, and identification is confirmed through the RVezy platform during checkout. Visiting from outside Canada? Bring your home country's license, and an International Driving Permit if your license is not in English or French, and you are set to cruise Route 138 along the river.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat kind of protection is included with my RVezy booking in La Malbaie?
Every RV rental in La Malbaie comes with a built-in renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on whale watching at Pointe-au-Pic instead of worst-case scenarios. You choose your protection level during checkout (not the host), and the plan covers most physical damage to the RV during your trip. Roadside assistance is included with every protection plan and helps with flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing across Charlevoix. Combined with direct host communication through the RVezy app, even first-time renters feel confident heading into Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Riviere-Malbaie National Park.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if my plans change? Can I cancel my La Malbaie RV rental?
Yes, every RVezy booking includes a clear cancellation policy, with a grace period right after you reserve so you can lock in your La Malbaie dates with confidence. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. The cancellation policy is set by RVezy and applies consistently across every listing, so you do not need to compare host-by-host terms. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy will refund you or help rebook a comparable RV. For full timing and refund details, review the RVezy Help Center before you book.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a La Malbaie RV trip?
Absolutely! Pet-friendly RV rental La Malbaie options are easy to find on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you will see hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) right in the listing details. Even better, Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie National Park has officially allowed dogs on its territory since May 2019, so Fido can join you on the trails. Camping Chutes Fraser and Camping Le Genévrier in nearby Baie-Saint-Paul are also dog-friendly and have shaded sites perfect for warm summer days. Pro tip: pack a long leash, since most Sépaq trails require dogs to be kept on lead at all times.
sepaq.com/pq/hgo/index.dot?language_id=1Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in La Malbaie?
Yes! RV delivery La Malbaie hosts offer is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who would rather skip driving a motorhome down the steep grades of Route 362. Many hosts will deliver the RV directly to Camping Chutes Fraser, Camping Le Genévrier, or even a private property in Pointe-au-Pic or Cap-à-l'Aigle, then set up the awning, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees are set by the host and depend on distance, so message them through the listing for a quote. It is hands-down the easiest way to enjoy a motorhome rental La Malbaie without ever sitting behind a big wheel.
tourisme-charlevoix.com/en/charlevoix/la-malbaieHow far can I drive on my La Malbaie RV trip?
Your travel range depends on the host's mileage policy, which is shown on every RVezy listing, and some hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is gold for a Charlevoix road trip. From La Malbaie, popular drives include Tadoussac for whale watching (about 70 km north, 1 hour by ferry crossing at Baie-Sainte-Catherine), Quebec City (about 150 km, 2 hours), Saguenay Fjord National Park (about 130 km, 2 hours), and Baie-Saint-Paul on the artisan trail (about 50 km, 45 minutes). If you are dreaming of a bigger RV road trip from La Malbaie, ask the host about a daily mileage bump-up. Many will happily adjust for the right itinerary.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=La%20Malbaie%2C%20QuebecWhere are the best campgrounds near La Malbaie?
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to the best campgrounds near La Malbaie. Camping Chutes Fraser sits right in town on Chemin de la Vallée with 325 sites, full hookups, and a famous waterfall on-site. Camping Le Genévrier in nearby Baie-Saint-Paul offers lakeside sites, kayak rentals, and a beach. Sépaq's Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie has the L'Épervier RV area with stunning gorge views, and Parc national des Grands-Jardins offers rustic motorhome-friendly sites in caribou country. For RV camping La Malbaie style, book Sépaq parks early through their reservation portal, summer weekends fill up months in advance.
sepaq.com/pq/hgo/index.dot?language_id=1When is the best time of year for an RV trip to La Malbaie?
La Malbaie shines brightest from mid-June through mid-October, but each window has its own magic. July and August deliver warm days of 22 to 26 degrees Celsius, perfect for whale watching out of Baie-Sainte-Catherine and hiking the Acropole-des-Draveurs trail. Late September into early October is leaf-peeping heaven, with the Charlevoix hills exploding in red and gold (and far fewer crowds). May and early June are quieter and cheaper, though some Sépaq trails open later due to snowmelt. Winter rentals exist too for skiing at Le Massif or Mont Grand-Fonds, just confirm the rig has heated tanks and shore power before booking.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/results_1991_2020_e.html?searchType=stnName&txtStationName=la+malbaieI have never rented an RV before. Will I be okay in La Malbaie?
Yes, first time renting an RV in La Malbaie is easier than you would think, thanks to RVezy's host walkthrough. At pickup (or at delivery to your campsite), your host shows you how every system works: water, propane, the awning, the generator, and how to level the rig. Many also send a video orientation before your trip. The terrain around La Malbaie is hilly, especially Côte des Éboulements on Route 362, so start with Route 138 along the river, which is flatter and gentler. Choose a Class C motorhome or campervan rental La Malbaie for the easiest driving experience, and remember RVezy support is reachable 24/7 if you ever feel stuck.
tc.canada.ca/en/road-transportation/road-safetyWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue on the road?
You are never alone out there. Every RV rental in La Malbaie includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the RVezy protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If something goes wrong on Route 138 between La Malbaie and Tadoussac, or up in the gorges of Hautes-Gorges National Park, one call gets help dispatched. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app, since they know their rig best and often troubleshoot small issues in minutes. Save the roadside assistance number to your phone before you leave the driveway and you are set.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my La Malbaie RV rental across the border into the US?
Cross-border travel from a La Malbaie RV rental into the United States is sometimes allowed, but it depends on the host's insurance coverage and approval, so always confirm directly with them through the listing before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Most renters from La Malbaie stay within Quebec anyway, since incredible RV road trip options like the Saguenay Fjord (2 hours), Gaspe Peninsula (about 8 hours), or Mont-Tremblant (about 5 hours) keep you in beautiful Canadian terrain. If a US route is on your wishlist, message the host first and bring your passport and a host authorization letter just in case.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a La Malbaie RV trip?
Fuel is one of the biggest line items, but it is easy to plan for. Quebec gas prices typically run around $1.55 to $1.75 CAD per litre in the Charlevoix region, and most Class C motorhomes get about 16 to 22 litres per 100 km (roughly 11 to 14 mpg), while Class B campervans and small travel trailers are noticeably more efficient. A typical 4-day loop from La Malbaie to Tadoussac, back through Baie-Saint-Paul (roughly 350 km) usually costs $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in La Malbaie or Clermont before heading into the gorges, since stations get sparse once you turn off Route 138.
rncan.gc.ca/our-natural-resources/domestic-and-international-markets/transportation-fuel-prices/4593How far in advance should I book a campground near La Malbaie?
Book early, especially if you are eyeing a Sépaq park. Reservations for Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie and Parc national des Grands-Jardins open in late winter through the official Sépaq reservation system, and the best riverfront and gorge-view RV sites get snapped up within weeks for July, August, and the autumn colour peak. Private campgrounds like Camping Chutes Fraser and Camping Le Genévrier accept bookings online and tend to fill 2 to 3 months out for summer weekends. For shoulder-season trips in June or late September, 3 to 4 weeks notice is usually plenty, leaving you flexibility to chase the best weather.
sepaq.com/reservation/index.dot?language_id=1What are driving conditions like around La Malbaie?
Charlevoix driving is gorgeous, with a few quirks worth knowing. Route 138, the main road through La Malbaie, is well-maintained two-lane highway with stunning river views. Route 362, the scenic coastal alternative, is steeper and twistier, particularly the famous Côte des Éboulements grade, take it slow in a larger motorhome. Winters bring snow from late November through early April, so most RV rental in La Malbaie listings are seasonal (May to October). Watch for moose at dawn and dusk in forested stretches near the Saguenay, and use Quebec 511 to check real-time road conditions before tackling routes inland to the gorges.
quebec511.info/en/What amenities do campgrounds near La Malbaie typically offer?
Most campgrounds near La Malbaie offer the full hookup experience you would hope for. Camping Chutes Fraser has 112 full-hookup sites with 30/50-amp power, water, sewer, plus showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and a pool. Camping Le Genévrier provides similar services with a sandy beach on Lac Bras. Sépaq's L'Épervier RV area in Hautes-Gorges has gravel pull-through sites without hookups but with access to washroom facilities at the Draveur Visitors Centre. Dump stations are available at most private campgrounds and at the Sépaq park visitor centres. Fill your fresh water tank before heading to rustic sites, since potable water can be limited deeper in the parks.
sepaq.com/pq/hgo/sejour.dot?language_id=1What's typically included inside an RV rental in La Malbaie?
Most RVs you will find when you rent an RV in La Malbaie come stocked and ready for the road. Expect comfortable sleeping for 2 to 8 (depending on rig size), a full kitchen with fridge, stovetop, microwave, and often a convection oven, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control via furnace and air conditioning, and dinette seating with seatbelts for travel. Many listings include a generator for off-grid stays, plus a TV, Bluetooth speaker, and bedding or kitchenware bundles. Cell service inside Hautes-Gorges National Park can be spotty, so if you need to work remotely, look for a rig with a cellular booster or plan campground stays in La Malbaie proper.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=La%20Malbaie%2C%20QuebecWhat add-ons can I get with my La Malbaie RV rental?
Hosts on RVezy offer a menu of add-ons to make your trip easier. Common extras for a La Malbaie RV trip include bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits with pots and dishes, camping chairs and outdoor tables, bike racks, generators, and propane fire pits, perfect for chilly Charlevoix nights. Many hosts also offer delivery and setup right to your campsite. Mileage policies vary by listing, so check each one carefully or look for hosts advertising unlimited kilometres. Pickup is usually at the host's location near La Malbaie, Clermont, or down the coast in Baie-Saint-Paul. Exact add-on pricing is shown on each listing during checkout.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=La%20Malbaie%2C%20QuebecHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment for your RV rental in La Malbaie is processed securely through RVezy at the time of booking, you pay RVezy rather than the host directly, which adds an extra layer of protection. The refundable security deposit is separate from your booking payment and is pre-authorized on your card shortly before pickup, then released after return assuming no damage, excess cleaning, or extra mileage fees. To keep things smooth, do a thorough walkaround video with your host at both pickup and drop-off, document fuel and tank levels, and return the RV on time. That is the easiest way to get your full deposit back.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a local insider tip for an RV trip to La Malbaie?
Here is a gem many visitors miss: drive Route du Fleuve through Cap-a-l'Aigle just east of La Malbaie at golden hour. Les Jardins du cap a l'Aigle lilac gardens bloom in late June, and the cliffside pullouts give you uninterrupted views of the St. Lawrence with belugas often visible offshore. Pair it with dinner at La Maison du Bootlegger, a former prohibition-era hideaway in the hills, then enjoy a sunset stroll along the Pointe-au-Pic boardwalk. It is the kind of evening that turns a good RV camping La Malbaie trip into a story you will be telling for years. Book your rig now and start planning.
