Your host can drop off and set up the RV at a campground like Buena Vista Aquatic Recreation Area, a private property, or an event site, and walk you through everything onsite. This is a great choice for first time renters who would rather skip driving a large RV and enjoy a stress-free trip.
kerncounty.com/government/departments/parks/buena-vista-aquatic-recreational-areaHow far can I travel with my Oildale RV rental? Are there mileage limits?
Most Oildale RV rentals include a daily mileage allowance with the option to purchase additional miles or choose listings with unlimited mileage. From Oildale you can reach Sequoia National Park (about 105 miles), Pismo Beach (about 145 miles), or the Mojave Desert area (about 70 to 100 miles) within easy striking distance. For a longer California RV road trip, filter for higher mileage allowances and confirm route plans with your host before booking. Kernville, Paso Robles, and Joshua Tree all make great multi-day destinations.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Oildale%2C%20CaliforniaWhere can I park an RV in Oildale and the Bakersfield area overnight?
You have several solid options for RV camping near Oildale. Bakersfield River Run RV Park offers full hookups and a pool, Bakersfield RV Resort provides pull-through sites with amenities, and A Country RV Park is a quieter pet-friendly choice. Hart Park has rustic camping along the Kern River. Overnight parking on city streets is not permitted, so booking a campground in advance is the safest way to secure a spot close to local attractions.
kerncounty.com/government/departments/parks/hart-parkWhat's the best time of year to plan an Oildale, CA RV trip?

Fuel budgeting is straightforward. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 mpg, Class A motorhomes around 6 to 10 mpg, and campervans 16 to 20 mpg. With California gas prices generally in the $4.50 to $5.25 per gallon range, expect to spend roughly $90 to $175 in fuel for a weekend trip to Sequoia or Pismo Beach. Costs rise if you tow a trailer or head into mountain terrain, so plan extra cushion for longer routes.

For the best campgrounds near Oildale, especially in spring and fall, reserve sites 1 to 3 months ahead. Top picks include Bakersfield River Run RV Park with its pool and riverside location, Buena Vista Aquatic Recreation Area for water sports and fishing, and Orange Grove RV Park for its shaded citrus-grove setting. Use ReserveCalifornia or Recreation.gov to book Kern River and Lake Isabella sites. Many private parks also allow late check-ins for RVs, so your spot stays reserved if travel runs long.

Driving an RV around Oildale is generally relaxed compared to larger California cities. Most roads are flat and wide, with the heaviest traffic on Bakersfield commuter routes between 7 to 9 am and 4 to 6 pm. Watch for slow-moving farm equipment on rural roads and strong crosswinds through Tehachapi Pass on Highway 58. If you would prefer not to drive a larger rig, choose a listing with RV delivery so the host handles transport to your campground.
