2025 Thor Motor Coach Class B
We had a fantastic 7 day roadtrip traveling through California visiting various California Missions with our 2 children and dog! We stayed at several camp sites and easily hooked up to facilities. Gurvinder’s Thor Motor Coach was PERFECT! It was comfortable for our family of 4 (plus dog). Two slept comfortable in each of the sleeping areas. We loved the ability to easily unhook from campsite and head into to town to explore Missions. Moving was easy and any parking lot accommodated the vehicle. For a family 4, I recommend setting aside plenty of time to carefully pack the vehicle with the necessities only! We brought an extra table and small grill as well as 4 chairs and bedding. The vehicle’s hot plate came in handy, the pot and pan provided along with plates, cups and utensils were appreciated. The bathroom was easy to use. Gurvinder prepped us well on how to use the vehicle and quickly responded to questions! We would definitely consider this vehicle for future trips!

Great experience overall. The trailer was delivered and set up before we arrived, with power on, AC running, and the awning already out, which made everything incredibly easy for our family. It gave us a comfortable place to cool off and escape the heat during our family campout, and everything went well throughout the stay. The only issue we ran into was some water dripping from the water heater area, but Jakwan was responsive and helped us work through it. Reducing the water pressure going into the trailer, or shutting the water off when not in use, seemed to resolve the concern enough for the trip. Overall, the trailer served our family well, communication was good, and we appreciated the convenience of having everything set up and ready to go.

Rented the RV for a family camping trip to a local state beach. RV looked fantastic, great condition, and comfortably slept a family of 4 without any issues. When I picked up the RV initially, Mark walked me through everything. And when I was at the campsite trying to figure something out, I text him and he responded right away to walk me through it. Great experience and highly recommend!

Raul RV was amazing!!! The layout was fantastic, a lot of room in the front living space to entertain our neighboring friends from their campers to come and play games and reminisce. We had the tajmahal! It was more like “Glamping”. Delivered in first class style by Raul right on time and picked up promptly. Raul came out to show us one more thing to use with a smile on his face. What a sweetie. It had all the amenities. Totally turnkey. We brought our own down comforter and pillows for us just cause we like to, however no need he has it all. I would definitely rent again! Thanks Raul for your hospitality.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in California?

Good news: to rent an RV in San Marcos, you just need to be at least 25 years old and have a valid driver's license. No commercial or special license is required for standard motorhome rental or travel trailers in California under the typical size and weight limits. Out-of-state and international travelers can use their regular license, and international guests should also bring an International Driving Permit when their license is not in English. RVezy verifies your ID and approves you as a driver during the booking process, so most renters are road ready quickly.

For the best campgrounds near San Marcos, such as South Carlsbad State Beach, San Elijo State Beach, and Guajome Regional Park, reserve 3 to 6 months ahead for peak season (April through August) and holiday weekends. Use ReserveCalifornia.com for state park campgrounds, the San Diego County Parks site for regional parks like Guajome, and each park's own website for private RV resorts. Weekdays and shoulder seasons offer more availability and lower rates. If you're flexible, check for last-minute cancellations a few days before your trip.

What's driving an RV like in San Marcos? Any local tips or things to avoid?

San Marcos is a manageable place to drive an RV. Most major roads are wide, and there are few low-clearance hazards in the city itself. Expect heavier traffic on Highway 78 between San Marcos and Oceanside during weekday commute hours and summer weekends. Avoid narrow neighborhood streets in older parts of town, and check Caltrans QuickMap for real-time conditions before you head out. If you'd rather skip city driving, choose a host who offers delivery directly to your campground. Take it slow on hills like Twin Oaks Valley Road and you'll do great.

What hookups and amenities are available at RV campgrounds near San Marcos?

You'll find full hookup sites (water, sewer, and electricity) at private parks like Escondido RV Resort and Paradise by the Sea RV Resort in Oceanside, making your stay comfortable and convenient. Many sites also include picnic tables, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and pools. Regional and county parks like Guajome typically offer water and electric hookups plus a dump station. State beach campgrounds along the coast often have partial hookups only, so plan ahead for waste disposal. Always review the campground's amenities list when booking to match your RV's needs.

Larger motorhomes may add slide-outs, generators, and outdoor cooking gear. For a family RV trip, look for rentals with bunk beds and additional seatbelts for child safety. Ask the host about useful add-ons like bike racks, beach chairs, or firepits. Each listing on RVezy clearly shows the included features so you can pick the right rig.
