2022 Grand Design Travel Trailer
I am not a seasoned camper by any means. However I have had the opportunity to rent a few campers over the last 2 seasons. This camper has been my favorite. It was extremely spacious, clean and fully equipped. We were able to cook and host dinner for 4 large adults without climbing all over one another in the camper during the rainy evenings. Brooklyn provided a full white glove service with delivery, setup, pickup and even a "how to" session to answer my newbie questions. I could totally get used to camping in this rig. I will be starring this camper in the hopes to rent it again in the future. Thank you Brooklyn!

When the phrase “above and beyond” was created , Shiloh was who they had in mind. Not only did Shiloh rent us his RV for a really important family reunion in Aurora (on the other side of the mountain range), he rented us his truck as well because our vehicle wouldn’t haul it. He truly went above and beyond to accommodate our trip, making sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us daily to make sure all was well. You are in good hands booking with him, he is a man of his word and I would be happy to business with him again. Thanks again Shiloh!!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Thornton, CO

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Thornton, CO?

RV rental in Thornton is approachable for most budgets, with travel trailers typically around $100-160 per night and Class C motorhomes commonly $175-275 per night on RVezy. Smaller campervans can dip under $125 a night, and many hosts offer 10-20% off weekly or monthly bookings. Booking shoulder season (late April-May or September-October) is the smart-money move, since summer demand from Denver-area travelers pushes rates higher. Pro tip: filter by Delivery to skip towing a trailer through I-25 traffic, then stack a weekly discount on a Class C for the best value on a family RV trip to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Good news: a regular Colorado driver's license (or any valid US/Canadian license) is all you need to rent an RV in Thornton, no CDL or special endorsement required, even for a 30-foot Class A motorhome. You'll need to be 25 or older as an approved driver on RVezy, and your ID is verified through the platform during checkout. Visiting from overseas? Can I find a pet-friendly RV rental in Thornton?

Absolutely, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental Thornton options, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see motorhomes and trailers that welcome dogs and cats. Thornton is a fantastic launchpad for traveling with pets: the city's own E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park has off-leash areas, and a short drive gets you to dog-friendly trails at Standley Lake Regional Park and the Boulder foothills. Most state parks in Colorado allow leashed pets in campgrounds, though they're restricted on some trails. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees or size limits, and ask if they leave a pet welcome kit, many local owners do.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Thornton?

Yes, RV delivery Thornton is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who'd rather skip driving a 30-foot motorhome out of a driveway in the Denver suburbs. Many Thornton-area hosts will deliver the RV directly to your campground (Cherry Creek State Park, Chatfield State Park, St. Vrain State Park are common drop spots), set it up, level it, connect hookups, and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter to see available options, and message the host for a delivery quote based on mileage. It's the easiest way to rent an RV in Thornton without ever getting behind the wheel of one.

Mileage policies are set by each host, so you'll see everything from generous daily allowances to RV rental with unlimited mileage right on the listing page, no surprises. From Thornton, the math is friendly: Rocky Mountain National Park is about 70 miles (under 2 hours via US-36), Estes Park is roughly 65 miles, Colorado Springs is 80 miles south on I-25, and Steamboat Springs is around 160 miles. For a long RV road trip from Thornton out to Moab, Utah (about 350 miles), filter for unlimited mileage listings. Pro tip: map your route before booking so you can compare per-mile add-on costs against unlimited options and pick the best fit.

June and September are the local insider picks, you get long sunny days, fewer crowds at Rocky Mountain National Park, and lower nightly rates than peak July-August. Fall brings spectacular golden aspen viewing from mid-September to early October along the Peak to Peak Highway. Pro tip: afternoon thunderstorms are common July-August, so plan mountain driving for mornings.

I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay renting one in Thornton?

You'll do great, first time renting an RV in Thornton is genuinely common, and every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, hookups, generator, slide-outs, and dumping the tanks. If a 30-foot Class C feels like a lot, start with a Class B campervan rental Thornton, they drive like a tall van and park in any standard spot. Even better, request delivery so the host sets everything up at your campsite. Practice tip: I-25 north of Thornton has wide shoulders and is great for getting comfortable before tackling US-36 to Estes Park. Hosts and RVezy's 24/7 support team are a phone call away if anything feels confusing.
codot.gov/safety

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You're covered, 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking, so a flat tire on US-36 or a generator hiccup at Chatfield State Park is just a phone call away from being handled. Roadside can dispatch help for towing, lockouts, jump-starts, tire changes, and fuel delivery across Colorado. Your host is also usually quick to respond by message for questions about specific systems (their water heater, awning, leveling jacks). For anything bigger, RVezy's customer support team is reachable before, during, and after your trip. Save the roadside number to your phone at pickup, you almost certainly won't need it, but you'll relax knowing you have it.

Can I take my Thornton RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?

Yes, interstate travel is welcomed on most RV rentals from Thornton, popular routes include Wyoming's Grand Teton (about 470 miles), Utah's Moab and Arches (around 350 miles), South Dakota's Black Hills (about 380 miles), and New Mexico's Santa Fe (around 390 miles). Travel into Canada is sometimes allowed depending on the host, so message the owner before booking if you're planning a cross-border trip. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: I-70 west out of Denver is your gateway to the Rockies, while I-25 south unlocks New Mexico and I-80 north opens Wyoming.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Thornton RV trip?

Plan on roughly 8-12 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class C motorhome and 18-22 MPG for a campervan, with Colorado gas prices typically running near the national average. Diesel pumps are easy to find at Pilot, Loves, and Sapp Bros along I-25 and I-76 near Thornton. For a 5-day, 600-mile loop to Rocky Mountain National Park and back, budget around $200-300 for fuel in a Class C. Pro tip: Costco on East 144th Avenue in Thornton and Sam's Club at I-25 and 104th are the cheapest local fill-ups, top off before heading into the mountains where prices jump 30-50 cents per gallon in towns like Estes Park.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Thornton?

For the best campgrounds near Thornton, book as early as you can, Colorado Parks and Wildlife opens reservations up to 6 months in advance through CPW Direct, and popular spots like Cherry Creek and Chatfield State Parks fill up within minutes for summer weekends. National park sites at Rocky Mountain National Park (Moraine Park, Glacier Basin, Aspenglen) open 6 months out on Recreation.gov and book equally fast. Private parks like Jellystone Larkspur and Dakota Ridge RV Park usually have more flexibility, often a few weeks out. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday-Wednesday) almost always have openings, even in July, perfect for a spontaneous family RV trip Thornton-style.

What are driving conditions like in and around Thornton?

Driving an RV in Thornton is very manageable, the city sits at 5,351 feet on flat, gridded streets with wide arterials like 120th Avenue and Washington Street that handle big rigs easily. I-25 runs right through town for quick access north to Fort Collins or south into Denver, and E-470 lets you bypass downtown traffic entirely on the way to Denver International Airport. Watch for afternoon summer thunderstorms (July-August) and sudden wind gusts on I-25 north of town. Mountain driving west on I-70 means steep grades and switchbacks above 8,000 feet, downshift, use engine braking, and avoid Eisenhower Tunnel during ski-traffic Sundays. Check CDOT's COtrip app before any mountain trip.

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Thornton?

Most established campgrounds within an hour of Thornton offer electric (30/50 amp) and water hookups, with full-hookup sites (including sewer) at private parks like Dakota Ridge RV Park in Golden, Prospect RV Park in Wheat Ridge, and Boulder County Fairgrounds. Colorado state parks like Cherry Creek and Chatfield have electric and water but no sewer at the site, you'll use the on-site dump station on your way out. Need to dump or fill water without staying? Cabela's in Thornton and Flying J truck stops along I-25 often have public dump stations for a small fee. Most campgrounds also have hot showers, flush toilets, laundry, and Wi-Fi near the office.

What's included inside a typical Thornton RV rental?

Local RVezy rentals are well-equipped for Colorado adventures, expect a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower in most Class B, C and travel trailer listings, comfy sleeping for 2-8 depending on the rig, climate control, and seatbelts for every traveler in motorhomes. Most Thornton-area hosts include linens, kitchenware, outdoor chairs, leveling blocks, and a starter pack of toilet paper and tank treatment. Many also throw in a generator (handy for boondocking near Buffalo Creek), TV, Bluetooth speakers, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Listings spell out exactly what's included, and you can always message the host to confirm specifics like a coffee maker or grill before you book.
nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/camping.htm

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts offer a great mix of add-ons that make your Thornton RV trip easier, common extras include camp chairs and tables, bedding/linen packages, kitchen kits, bike racks, generators, propane refills, and even pre-stocked groceries. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on locally; rates depend on distance from Thornton to your campground. Pickup is usually at the host's home address with a 30-60 minute walkthrough, while drop-off mirrors pickup or can be coordinated for a fee. Mileage policies vary by listing (some unlimited, some with a daily allotment plus per-mile overage), and all of it is laid out clearly on the listing page before you book, no surprises at pickup.
nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/directions.htm

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure, you pay through RVezy at the time of booking (no cash to the host), and your card details are protected by the platform. A refundable security deposit is handled separately from your booking payment and held by RVezy, not the host, then released back to you after drop-off assuming the RV comes back in the same condition. To avoid issues, do a quick walkaround video with your host at both pickup and return, follow the mileage and generator-hour policies on the listing, and dump the tanks before drop-off (or pay the dump fee, your call). Most renters in Thornton get their full deposit back within a few days.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Can I park an RV at my home in Thornton between trips?

Yes, with a quick step, the City of Thornton allows RVs to be parked on your own driveway as long as they're operable and have valid plates (not on the lawn or dirt). For street parking, Thornton issues free 72-hour RV permits through Code Compliance, and you can get up to four of them per calendar year, perfect for loading up before a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park or unloading after. Apply online through the city's CityView Portal with your RV registration handy. If your subdivision has a homeowners association (HOA), double-check their covenants too. For peace of mind, many RVezy hosts offer delivery so you skip street parking entirely.
