Very simple to book, reserve, communicate, meet-up, operate, return, etc. I would recommend to all! Perfect size RV and amenities for what I was looking for. Family of five. We had everything we needed, with nothing too fancy that may be difficult to operate or take away from the camping experience.

Wonderful across the board. The RV was clean, drove perfectly (mountains of Colorado and New Mexico), and was impeccably organized. They have clearly thought through all the things that might be needed on a long trip and made them easily accessible. The toilet cassette was easy to empty (particularly in a latrine -- 3-5 minutes with no mess). The refrigerator and cabinets have plenty of space and beds were comfortable. It was easy to stop and sleep overnight in parks. We were really pleased and would happily rent this RV again.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Glenview, IL

How much does an RV rental in Glenview cost, and how can I save?

RV rental in Glenview is more affordable than most people expect, especially when you book a smaller rig midweek. On RVezy, travel trailers in the Chicago northwest suburbs typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run $175 to $275, and luxury Class A coaches climb to $300 plus. For a cheap RV rental Glenview travelers love, book a tow-behind trailer for Sunday through Thursday nights and avoid Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends when demand peaks. Pro tip: many Glenview hosts offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent, so even a five-night trip can drop your nightly rate noticeably.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Glenview, Illinois?

Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Glenview, Illinois. The state does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal motorhomes or travel trailers under 26,000 pounds, which covers essentially every rig on RVezy. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and the platform verifies your ID during booking, so there is no extra paperwork on pickup day. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set. Most first-timers say the hardest part is just choosing which RV looks coolest in the listing photos.

What protection comes with my Glenview RV rental?

Every RVezy booking in Glenview includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are never on the hook alone if something unexpected happens. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, which means a fender bump in a Costco parking lot or a scraped awning at a campground will not derail your vacation. During checkout you choose your coverage level, so you can dial protection up or down to match your comfort. Pair that with the host walkthrough at pickup and your first motorhome rental Glenview adventure feels a lot less intimidating.

What if my plans change after I book?

Booking an RV rental in Glenview is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not the host, and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book. That window gives you breathing room to confirm campground reservations at places like Chain O' Lakes State Park or sort out work schedules before you are locked in. If something major happens closer to your trip, RVezy support works with you on options. Pro tip: book your RV first to lock in the rig you want, then immediately reserve your campsite through the Illinois state park reservation system, since summer weekend sites fill within minutes of opening.

Can I bring my dog on my Glenview RV trip?

Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental Glenview travelers can take to the lake is just a filter click away on RVezy. Flip the Pet-Friendly filter on and you will see motorhomes and trailers whose owners welcome dogs, with rules and any pet fees listed right in the listing. Once you are rolling, Cook County Forest Preserves minutes from Glenview, plus the outdoor paths near the Chicago Botanic Garden in nearby Glencoe, give your pup plenty of leash time. Chain O' Lakes State Park also allows leashed pets at most campsites. Bring a 10-foot or shorter leash as required at Illinois state parks, and stash a collapsible water bowl for hot July afternoons.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Glenview?

Yes, RV delivery is one of the most popular options on RVezy in Glenview, and it is a game-changer if you have never towed before or just do not want to drive a 30-foot rig through Edens Expressway traffic. Many local hosts will deliver your trailer or motorhome straight to your driveway, a Glenview-area campground, or directly to Chain O' Lakes State Park or Illinois Beach State Park, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees usually scale with distance and are set by the host. Pro tip: ask your host to set up the awning and outdoor mat so you can step out of the car and straight into vacation mode.

How far can I drive on a Glenview RV trip?

You can cover serious ground from Glenview, since you are perfectly positioned in the upper Midwest. Popular routes include Starved Rock State Park (about 100 miles southwest, roughly 2 hours), Wisconsin Dells (about 175 miles north, around 3 hours), Indiana Dunes National Park (about 75 miles east, around 90 minutes), and Door County, Wisconsin (about 240 miles, roughly 4.5 hours). Many RVezy hosts offer 100 to 150 free miles per night, and several offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage upgrade for longer hauls. Pro tip: if a Mississippi River road trip is calling, the Great River Road through Galena (about 165 miles west) is one of the most scenic drives in the Midwest, and your host can usually add bonus miles for a flat fee.

Where should I camp near Glenview?

You have excellent options for RV camping Glenview travelers love, all within easy driving range. Chain O' Lakes State Park (about 50 miles northwest) offers Class A Premium electric sites in areas like Honeysuckle Hollow and Fox Den. Illinois Beach State Park (about 40 miles north in Zion) puts you right on Lake Michigan with electric sites for big rigs. Chicago Northwest KOA in Union (about 50 miles west) offers full hookups, a pool, and laundry. Camp Bullfrog Lake in Willow Springs (about 30 miles southwest) is open year-round with full hookups. Pro tip: reserve Chain O' Lakes through the Illinois state park reservation system six months out for the best summer weekend sites, especially anything facing Turner Lake.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Glenview?

Late May through early October is prime time for a Glenview RV trip, with the sweet spot running mid-June through mid-September. Summer days average 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, with warm evenings perfect for campfires. September and early October bring fewer mosquitoes, brilliant oak and maple color along the Fox River, and noticeably cheaper nightly rates from local hosts. Spring (April to mid-May) can be chilly with lows in the 40s, but lakefront campgrounds are wide open. Winter rentals are possible for tailgating Bears games or ice fishing, just confirm with your host that the rig is set up for cold weather. Insider tip: book the weekend after Labor Day, the weather is still gorgeous and the crowds at Illinois Beach State Park practically vanish.

I have never rented an RV before. How does it actually work?

First time renting an RV? You are going to be just fine, because every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the propane, water pump, slide-outs, generator, and dump procedure before you drive away. Many Glenview hosts also send video tutorials in advance so you can review at home. Start simple: pick a travel trailer or Class C around 25 feet, choose a nearby campground like Camp Bullfrog Lake or Illinois Beach State Park for your first night, and consider delivery so you skip the towing learning curve entirely. Pro tip: keep your host's number in your phone, they genuinely want you to have a great trip and will happily answer questions.
dnr.illinois.gov/parks/park.illinoisbeach.html

What happens if something goes wrong on the road?

You are covered around the clock, every single trip. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on I-94 heading to Wisconsin or a dead battery at Chain O' Lakes is one phone call away from getting help. The roadside team coordinates tows, jump-starts, lockout service, and tire changes wherever you are. Your host is also a direct lifeline for questions about the rig itself, since they know the quirks of every appliance. Pro tip: before you leave Glenview, snap photos of the tire pressures, generator hours, and propane gauge readings, it makes any roadside call go faster and protects you on the security deposit return.

Can I drive my Glenview rental into Wisconsin or other states?

Yes, an RV road trip from Glenview into Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, or beyond is completely normal, and the renter protection plan applies across state lines throughout the United States. The Wisconsin border is only about 40 miles north, so weekend runs to Lake Geneva, Door County, or the Wisconsin Dells are some of the most popular Glenview itineraries. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval, just message them through the listing before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: if you are headed to the Upper Peninsula, fuel up in Illinois first when prices are lower than your destination state.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validity

What kind of fuel mileage will I get and how should I budget?

Plan smart and fuel will not blow up your budget. Class B campervans get the best mileage at 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 mpg, large Class A coaches return 7 to 10 mpg, and a truck towing a travel trailer typically lands around 10 to 13 mpg. Gas prices in the Chicago metro area, including Glenview, generally run higher than the national average due to Cook County taxes. For a 4-night, 400-mile trip in a Class C, budget roughly $150 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up just outside Cook County before heading north, you can save real money on every tank.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far ahead should I book a campground near Glenview?

Book early and you will thank yourself. Illinois state parks like Chain O' Lakes open reservations six months in advance through the Illinois state park reservation system, and prime summer weekend sites at Honeysuckle Hollow and Fox Den vanish quickly after opening. For Illinois Beach State Park, aim for the same six-month window. Private parks like Chicago Northwest KOA and Camp Bullfrog Lake usually have more flexibility, but holiday weekends still sell out 60 to 90 days ahead. Pro tip: if you strike out on a summer Saturday at Chain O' Lakes, check back about two weeks before your date, that is when canceled sites typically reopen for booking.

What are the local driving conditions like around Glenview?

Glenview itself is easy RV territory: flat terrain, wide suburban streets, and elevations around 650 feet above sea level mean no white-knuckle mountain passes. The main thing to watch is metro Chicago traffic, avoid I-294 and I-94 (Edens Expressway) between 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays, and skip the Friday afternoon northbound rush if you are headed to Wisconsin. Some Chicago-area overpasses have low clearances, so if your RV is taller than 11 feet stick to interstates and posted truck routes rather than downtown surface streets. Pro tip: leave Glenview before 6 a.m. on summer Fridays to reach Chain O' Lakes before traffic, you will roll in by breakfast.
idot.illinois.gov/travel-information/road-conditions.html

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Glenview?

Local campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Chain O' Lakes State Park's Class A Premium sites at Honeysuckle Hollow and Fox Den offer electric hookups, drinking water spigots within walking distance, flush toilets, and showers, plus a dump station in the park. Class B sites are more rustic with no electric, but still have water fill-ups nearby. Chicago Northwest KOA in Union provides full 30/50 amp hookups, sewer, Wi-Fi, laundry, and a pool. Camp Bullfrog Lake delivers full hookups year-round. Illinois Beach State Park has 30/50 amp electric and a dump station. Pro tip: top off your fresh water before leaving the Chicago area, it is one less thing to worry about at the campground.
dnr.illinois.gov/parks/park.chainolakes.html

What is inside a typical Glenview RV rental?

You will find way more comfort than you would expect. Most RVs on RVezy in the Glenview area come fully equipped with real beds (queen or king in the master), a kitchen with fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, and sink, a private bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with both AC and furnace, dinette seating with seatbelts for travel, and 12V plus 110V outlets. Class C and Class A rigs typically include a TV, often a backup camera, and many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, generators, outdoor speakers, and even Starlink as optional add-ons. Pro tip: when you message a host, ask exactly which kitchen items, linens, and outdoor gear are included so you know what to pack.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Glenview%2C%20Illinois

What add-ons and options should I consider for my rental?

Smart add-ons can transform your campervan rental Glenview trip. Popular ones from local hosts include bike racks ($25 to $50 per trip), generators for off-grid camping ($30 to $75), kitchen kits with pots, plates, and utensils ($40 to $75), bedding packages ($25 to $50), portable grills ($20 to $35), and Wi-Fi hotspots ($10 to $20 per day). Mileage policies vary by host: many offer 100 free miles per night with additional miles at 35 to 50 cents each, while some offer unlimited mileage packages for longer trips. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Glenview, Northbrook, or Niles, with most hosts offering a 1 to 2 hour pickup window. Pro tip: bundle the kitchen kit and bedding, it saves a frantic Target run the night before.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Glenview%2C%20Illinois

How do payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is straightforward and entirely handled inside RVezy, no cash, no paper checks, no awkward driveway transactions. You pay with a credit or debit card when you book, and the platform holds your funds until your trip is complete, which protects both you and the host. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. Pro tip: do a thorough video walk-around with your host at both pickup and drop-off, time-stamped footage of any pre-existing scuffs is the single best way to ensure your full deposit comes back fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Can I rent an RV in Glenview during winter for tailgating or ice fishing?

Yes, and winter rentals are a hidden gem in this part of Illinois. Several Glenview hosts keep their rigs available year-round for Bears tailgates, ice fishing on Chain O' Lakes, or holiday-light road trips through the suburbs. Winter days typically run 25 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit with nights dipping into the teens, so confirm with your host that the RV has heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, and a working propane furnace, plus a shore power connection if you are staying somewhere with electric hookups. Pro tip: Camp Bullfrog Lake stays open all year with full hookups, making it the most reliable winter base camp for an RV rental Illinois adventurers can actually use in January and February.
