Very simple to book, reserve, communicate, meet-up, operate, return, etc. I would recommend to all! Perfect size RV and amenities for what I was looking for. Family of five. We had everything we needed, with nothing too fancy that may be difficult to operate or take away from the camping experience.

Wonderful across the board. The RV was clean, drove perfectly (mountains of Colorado and New Mexico), and was impeccably organized. They have clearly thought through all the things that might be needed on a long trip and made them easily accessible. The toilet cassette was easy to empty (particularly in a latrine -- 3-5 minutes with no mess). The refrigerator and cabinets have plenty of space and beds were comfortable. It was easy to stop and sleep overnight in parks. We were really pleased and would happily rent this RV again.

What if my plans change after I book?

Booking with RVezy is low-risk, which is why so many first-time renters in Rolling Meadows feel confident saying yes. When is the best time of year for a Rolling Meadows RV trip?

Late May through early October is prime time to rent an RV in Rolling Meadows, with the sweet spots being June and September. Summer highs run 80 to 85 degrees with warm nights perfect for campfires, while September brings 70-degree days, fewer mosquitoes, and lower nightly rates. Spring shoulder season (April to mid-May) is great for fishing trips, though expect rain showers and overnight lows near 40. Fall foliage peaks in mid-October across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, gorgeous for a Galena or Wisconsin Dells loop. Winter rentals exist but most regional campgrounds close from November through March. Pro tip, target the second week of September for warm days, cool nights, and easy campground availability.

I have never driven an RV. Will I be okay?

Yes, first time renting an RV in Rolling Meadows is easier than most people expect. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup covering driving, leveling, propane, water, and the dump station, and you can message them throughout your trip with questions. For first-timers, a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer is the sweet spot, easy to drive and park. Stick to highways like I-90 and I-290 rather than narrow downtown Chicago streets, and avoid rush hour around the Jane Addams Tollway. Do a practice loop in a quiet lot on a Sunday morning before heading north, you will feel like a pro within 30 minutes.

Can I take the RV across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is wide open, an RV road trip from Rolling Meadows can easily cross into Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, or Missouri without any extra paperwork. Popular cross-state runs include Wisconsin Dells (about 165 miles), Indiana Dunes (about 60 miles), and the Mississippi River Great River Road through Iowa. Cross-border travel into Canada depends on the specific host and protection plan, so message the listing owner before booking if you are dreaming of Ontario or Quebec. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Build in an overnight in Madison or Milwaukee on the way to Door County, it breaks up the drive nicely.

How much should I budget for fuel?

Fuel is one of the bigger trip costs, but it is easy to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A rigs run 6 to 9 MPG, campervans hit 14 to 20 MPG, and tow vehicles with trailers average 10 to 14 MPG. Illinois gas prices in the Chicago area typically run a bit higher than in Wisconsin or Indiana just across the border. For a 500-mile weekend loop in a Class C, budget around $175 to $225 for fuel at current pump prices. Filling up in Indiana or southern Wisconsin where fuel taxes are lower can save enough to cover a campground night.

How far in advance should I book a campground?

Plan ahead and you will land the best sites with zero stress. For Illinois state parks like Illinois Beach, Chain O'Lakes, or Starved Rock, reservations open up to six months in advance through the ExploreMore IL system, and prime summer weekends fill within hours. Cook County Forest Preserve campgrounds like Camp Reinberg book through the Forest Preserves of Cook County site, typically 30 to 90 days ahead. Private resorts like Chicago Northwest KOA and Fish Lake Beach take reservations a full year out for Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. If a weekend looks fully booked, check Sunday or Monday arrivals, many campers leave Sunday morning and those sites quietly reopen.

What are the driving conditions like around Rolling Meadows?

Rolling Meadows is RV-friendly once you know the lay of the land. The terrain is flat with wide suburban roads, and the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) and I-290 give you fast access out of town without battling downtown Chicago traffic. Avoid Lower Wacker Drive, the Loop, and any posted low-clearance underpasses common in older neighborhoods like Logan Square. Summer thunderstorms can pop up quickly, and winter brings snow and salted roads from December through March, which is why most rentals run April to October. Pro tip, leave Rolling Meadows before 6 a.m. or after 10 a.m. on weekdays to skip rush hour on I-90, and use I-355 to bypass the city heading south.

What amenities will I find at local campgrounds?

Campgrounds near Rolling Meadows are well-equipped for a smooth RV stay. Most regional parks offer 30 or 50-amp electric, potable water fill stations, dump stations, hot showers, and flush toilets. Forest preserve sites like Camp Reinberg offer electric and water, with a dump station on site for departure. Illinois Beach State Park has Class A Premium sites with electric plus a centralized dump and water fill. Top off fresh water before leaving your site and dump tanks on the way out so you arrive home ready to hand back a clean rig.

Most listings include 100 to 150 free miles nightly with overage at $0.30 to $0.45 per mile, plus unlimited mileage options on select listings. Bundle delivery, generator, and a kitchen kit upfront, hosts often discount the combo versus a la carte.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure on RVezy. You pay your full trip total at booking through the platform using a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which protects you and locks in your reservation instantly. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before the trip begins, with the amount set by the listing and shown at checkout, and it is released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. Document the RV with photos and a quick walkthrough video at both pickup and dropoff, this is the single best way to avoid disputes. Return the RV with a full fuel and propane tank and the interior tidy, hosts consistently release deposits quickly when you do.
