Excellent camper! Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Jared dropped off and set up the camper for us so it was ready when we got there, great communication throughout the rental. We had issues with the generator and Jared came out to help figure out the issue and try to get it started again. When he wasn't able to fix it he ran out and got a new generator so we wouldn't be stranded all weekend without one. Definitely recommend this rental to anyone looking for a stress free camping experience :-)

This was not just another camper rental. This was a true Air BnB experience. The trailer was immaculate and didn't miss a beat all weekend. The back patio area was amazing and trailer was spotless. Melissa and her husband crossed the t's and dotted all the i's on this rental from top to bottom: from communication, to drop off and pick up, everything was as smooth as could be. A great experience that we will definitely rent again one day!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Dunlap, IN
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Dunlap, IN?
RV rental in Dunlap, IN is surprisingly affordable thanks to the area's deep RV industry roots (Elkhart County is known as the RV Capital of the World). Expect roughly $95 to $175 per night for travel trailers, $150 to $250 for Class C motorhomes, and $200 to $350 for larger Class A rigs, with seasonal pricing peaking from June through August. Want a cheap RV rental in Dunlap? Travel mid-week, book in the shoulder months of late April, May, September, or early October, and filter for Instant Book listings to lock in the best rates. Pro tip: Many local hosts offer multi-night discounts of 10 to 20 percent for week-long bookings, which is perfect for a Pumpkinvine Trail or Amish Country getaway.
visitelkhartcounty.com/things-to-do/outdoors/Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Dunlap, Indiana?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Dunlap, Indiana. The state of Indiana does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal recreational use of motorhomes, travel trailers, or fifth wheels under 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), which covers virtually every rental on RVezy. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid driver's license, and the platform handles ID verification securely during booking. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country before flying in and you're all set to hit the road toward Shipshewana or South Bend.
in.gov/bmv/licenses-permits-ids/commercial-drivers-license-overview/What protection or insurance comes with my RV rental in Dunlap, IN?
Every RV rental in Dunlap, IN booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road with real peace of mind. During checkout you choose from multiple protection levels (Basic, Standard, or Premium), so you pick the coverage that fits your comfort level, not the host. The plan provides meaningful financial protection for most damage to the RV during your trip. That means if you get a flat tire heading to Pokagon State Park or a battery dies at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds, help is one phone call away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Dunlap RV rental?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not individual hosts. You get a money-back grace period right after booking that gives you time to change your mind, and depending on how far in advance you cancel you may still be eligible for a partial or full refund. The full details are spelled out clearly during checkout and on the RVezy Help Center, so you know exactly where you stand before you confirm. Pro tip: If lake-effect snow or a thunderstorm looks like it might affect your Indiana RV trip, message RVezy support early so the team can walk you through your options.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on my RV trip from Dunlap?
Absolutely, many hosts welcome pets on their rigs. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Dunlap, toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and message the host to confirm any specifics like size or breed. Northern Indiana is fantastic for dogs: Bonneyville Mill County Park in nearby Bristol has leashed-dog-friendly trails along the Little Elkhart River, the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail welcomes leashed pups along its full route between Goshen, Middlebury, and Shipshewana, and Potato Creek State Park about 40 miles west allows leashed pets on most trails and in the campground. Pro tip: Bring a long tether and water bowl, since most Elkhart-area campgrounds require pets to be leashed at the site.
in.gov/dnr/state-parks/about-us/rules/Can the RV be delivered to my campground near Dunlap?
Yes, RV delivery in Dunlap is one of the most popular options for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drop the RV right at your campsite at Elkhart Campground, Eby's Pines RV Park and Campground in Bristol, or the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through everything before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts offering this service, then message them with your destination to get a delivery quote. This is the easiest way to enjoy a motorhome rental in Dunlap if you'd rather not drive a big rig yourself — perfect for families heading to Shipshewana for the flea market.
visitelkhartcounty.com/hotels/camping-rv/How far can I travel on my Dunlap RV trip?
You can go further than you think. Hosts in Dunlap set their own mileage policies, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per night and some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer trips. Popular drives from Dunlap include Indiana Dunes National Park (about 90 miles west on the Lake Michigan shoreline), Mackinaw City, MI (about 320 miles north), Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN (about 290 miles south), and Chicago's lakefront (about 110 miles west). Pro tip: If you are planning a longer RV road trip from Dunlap, message the host before booking to ask about a mileage bundle, which is usually cheaper than paying per-mile overage fees.
nps.gov/indu/index.htmWhere can I camp with my RV near Dunlap, IN?
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Dunlap. Top picks within a short drive include Elkhart Campground (full hookups, heated pool, long pull-through sites), Eby's Pines RV Park and Campground in Bristol (riverfront sites and a fishing pond), South Bend / Elkhart KOA in Granger, and the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds for budget-friendly water and electric hookups. For state-park camping, Potato Creek State Park near North Liberty (about 40 miles west) and Pokagon State Park (about 50 miles north) are some of the best campgrounds near Dunlap. Reserve Indiana state park sites through the official Indiana State Parks reservation system up to six months in advance.
in.gov/dnr/state-parks/parks-lakes/potato-creek-state-park/When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Dunlap, IN?
Late May through mid-October is prime time for an Elkhart-area RV trip, with daytime highs in the 70s to mid-80s°F and warm evenings around the campfire. June, July, and August are the warmest and busiest months, while September and early October bring cooler nights, fewer crowds, and gorgeous fall foliage along the Pumpkinvine Trail. Spring shoulder season (late April to mid-May) is great for cheap RV rental in Dunlap deals. Winters here are genuinely cold (January lows often dip into the teens with lake-effect snow off Lake Michigan), so most local campgrounds operate seasonally from April 1 through mid-November. Pro tip: Book mid-September for the sweet spot of warm days, cool sleeping weather, and harvest-season Amish Country charm.
weather.gov/iwx/I have never rented an RV before, what should I expect in Dunlap?
First time renting an RV? You are going to love how easy RVezy makes it. Every booking includes a hands-on orientation at pickup where your host walks you through driving, hookups, the kitchen, slide-outs, holding tanks, and the generator. You are not handed keys and left to figure it out. You can also message your host with any questions before you even book. For an extra-easy start, choose a Class C motorhome or travel trailer (they drive much like a large van or pickup) and pick a host who offers delivery so the RV is already set up when you arrive. Dunlap's flat northern Indiana terrain and grid-style roads are very forgiving for new RV drivers.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I break down during my Dunlap RV trip?
You are covered around the clock. Every RV rental in Dunlap, Indiana booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance with your protection plan, so help is just a phone call away whether you are parked at Eby's Pines or driving the Indiana Toll Road toward Chicago. Roadside assistance covers things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing if needed. Your host is also typically reachable by phone or message for quick questions about the RV's quirks. Pro tip: Before pulling out of the driveway, save the RVezy support number and your host's number in your phone so a small hiccup will not derail your Amish Country adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I drive my Dunlap RV rental to Canada or another state?
Interstate road trips are absolutely on the table. With your RVezy rental you are free to drive throughout the United States, which makes Dunlap a fantastic launching point: Lake Michigan beaches are 90 minutes west, Mackinac Island is a day's drive north through Michigan, and the Great Smoky Mountains are about 9 hours south. Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection plan, so message the host directly through the listing before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: If you plan to cross into Ontario via Detroit or Port Huron, bring your passport and ask your host for written permission to take the RV across the border.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Dunlap RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, but it's predictable. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A rigs land around 6 to 10 MPG. Indiana gas prices generally run a bit below the national average, and the Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90) has frequent Travel Plazas with diesel pumps tall enough for RVs. For a typical 300-mile loop from Dunlap to Indiana Dunes National Park and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: Use the GasBuddy app and fill up in Elkhart or Goshen before heading into more rural Amish Country, where stations are sparser.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Dunlap?
For the best sites, book sooner rather than later. Indiana State Parks like Potato Creek and Pokagon allow reservations up to six months in advance through the official Indiana State Parks reservation system, and summer weekends (especially around the Fourth of July, the Elkhart County 4-H Fair in mid to late July, and Labor Day) sell out months ahead. Private campgrounds like Elkhart Campground, Eby's Pines, and Shipshewana Campground typically open summer bookings by February or March. Shoulder-season weekdays in May, September, and October are much easier and you can often book just a week out. Pro tip: If your dates are flexible, set up a cancellation alert with Campnab for Pokagon State Park, one of northern Indiana's most beloved campgrounds.
camp.in.gov/What are the roads like for driving an RV around Dunlap?
Driving an RV around Dunlap is refreshingly easy. Northern Indiana is flat, with wide rural roads, grid-style country routes, and the well-maintained Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90) running just north of town for fast east-west travel. US-20 and SR-19 are the main local arteries and handle large rigs comfortably. Watch for Amish horse-and-buggy traffic on county roads east of Goshen and around Shipshewana (slow down, give wide passes, and never honk). Winter brings lake-effect snow squalls off Lake Michigan from December through February that can reduce visibility quickly. Pro tip: Mind low clearances when crossing the older downtown Goshen and Elkhart railroad underpasses; most rigs are fine, but check your RV's posted height before heading into town.
in.gov/indot/What facilities will I find at campgrounds around Dunlap?
Northern Indiana's RV infrastructure is some of the best in the country — this is the RV Capital of the World, after all. Most campgrounds near Dunlap offer 30/50-amp electric, fresh water hookups, sewer connections (or dedicated dump stations), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and propane refills on site. Elkhart Campground has 250 pull-through sites up to 80 feet long; Eby's Pines features two heated pools and a fishing pond; and the South Bend/Elkhart KOA has level concrete pads and a swimming pool. State parks like Potato Creek offer Class A electric sites with modern restrooms and a central dump station. Pro tip: Top off fresh water and dump tanks before leaving for remote spots in Amish Country, where dump stations are less common.
in.gov/dnr/state-parks/parks-lakes/potato-creek-state-park/What's actually inside the RVs available in Dunlap?
Plenty of comforts of home. RVs on RVezy in Dunlap typically come with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or bunk beds, a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, furnace heat, a TV, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most include a generator or solar setup for off-grid power, and many offer Wi-Fi hotspots or built-in cellular boosters. Class A and larger Class C motorhomes can comfortably sleep 6 to 8, while campervan rentals in Dunlap are perfect cozy options for couples or solo travelers. Use the Sleeps filter on RVezy to match the RV to your group size. Pro tip: Check the listing photos carefully for an outdoor kitchen or awning, both fantastic for warm Indiana summer evenings.
rvia.org/What add-ons and pickup options do hosts in Dunlap offer?
Hosts in Dunlap make trip prep easy with a menu of helpful add-ons. Common extras include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), camping chairs and outdoor rugs ($15 to $30), bike racks, kayak/SUP setups, generators, and propane refills. Many also offer full setup at your destination for a flat fee, plus pre-stocked kitchen kits with pots, pans, and coffee makers. Mileage policies are set by each host — most listings include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and many bundle unlimited miles for week-long bookings. Pickup is usually directly from the host's home in Dunlap, Elkhart, or Goshen. Pro tip: Bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package on your first trip so you can show up, unlock the door, and start grilling.
visitelkhartcounty.com/How do payments and the security deposit work for my Dunlap RV rental?
Payment is simple, secure, and 100 percent handled through RVezy, so you never pay your host directly. When you book your RV rental in Dunlap, your card is charged for the rental total, and a refundable security deposit (typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the rig) is pre-authorized closer to your trip start. As long as you return the RV clean, on time, full of fuel and propane, and in the same condition you got it, the deposit is released back to your card after the trip. Pro tip: Snap clear photos of the interior and exterior at pickup and drop-off so both you and your host can confirm the RV's condition and keep your full deposit safe.
