Our family was thrilled with our experience with Ryan! The RV was in immaculate condition, and was well stocked with fun games, and plenty of blankets. There was even multiple spices and coffee/hot chocolate pods available for evenings sitting around the table playing games. We created some amazing memories while travelling together, and Ryan was an exceptional host in that experience. We could not recommend Ryan enough!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Union, KY

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Union, KY?

RV rental in Union is one of the most affordable ways to explore Northern Kentucky and the Cincinnati region. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $95 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275, and larger Class A coaches run $250 to $400. To find a cheap RV rental Union travelers love, book midweek, choose shoulder season dates (April or late September), and look at travel trailers if you already have a tow vehicle. What license do I need to rent an RV in Union, Kentucky?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Union, whether you're picking up a campervan or a 32-foot Class C. Kentucky does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal recreational vehicles. You'll need to be 25 or older to book through RVezy, and ID verification happens right inside the platform during checkout, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the United States? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters are surprised how straightforward the whole process is.

Is RV insurance and roadside assistance included with my Union, KY rental?

Yes, every RV rental in Union booking on RVezy includes a protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built into the checkout flow. You'll choose the protection level that fits your trip, and that plan covers physical damage to the vehicle while you're driving the back roads of Boone County or cruising up I-75 toward Cincinnati. If you blow a tire on KY-237 near Big Bone Lick or have battery trouble at a campground, one call to the roadside line gets help dispatched. Coverage details and limits vary by plan, so review the options at checkout. Pick your package, hit the road, enjoy Northern Kentucky.

What happens if I need to cancel my Union, KY RV booking?

You can book with confidence. RVezy applies a clear, platform-wide cancellation policy to every reservation, including a short grace period right after you book so you can lock in a great rig without second-guessing. If weather, a family change, or a tropical-storm remnant moving up the Ohio Valley forces you to rework plans, your refund depends on how far out you cancel. Hosts don't set these rules, RVezy does, which keeps things consistent across every motorhome rental Union listing. Pro tip: book early to secure summer Reds-game and Kings Island weekends, knowing the grace-period window has you covered if plans shift right after booking.

Can I bring my dog on a Union, KY RV trip?

Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental Union KY trip is one of the easiest ways to travel with your dog. Many hosts on RVezy welcome pets, and you can use the Pet-Friendly filter when browsing listings to see only those rigs. Boone County is genuinely dog-friendly: Big Bone Lick State Historic Site allows leashed dogs on its trails and at the campground, England-Idlewild Park in Burlington has wide open green space, and the Boone County Dog Park on Burlington Pike in Florence is a favorite off-leash spot. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and ask about nearby walking loops, most owners love sharing their favorite local routes.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Union, KY?

Yes, RV delivery in Union is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who don't want to drive a 30-foot motorhome through Cincinnati traffic. Many hosts will deliver and set up your rig at local campgrounds like Big Bone Lick State Historic Site (about 8 miles southwest) or Oak Creek Campground in Walton, and some will bring it right to your driveway or a private event venue. Delivery fees are typically based on distance and may include a flat setup charge. Use the Delivery filter when searching listings, then message the host to confirm your campsite address. You arrive, walk in, vacation starts.

How far can I travel from Union, KY on my RV rental?

You've got real range to play with. Union sits right off I-71/75 in Boone County, so an RV road trip from Union opens up the whole Ohio Valley and beyond. Mileage rules vary by host: some include 100 to 150 free miles per night, others offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage for a flat add-on fee. Popular runs include Mammoth Cave National Park (about 175 miles south), Red River Gorge (about 160 miles southeast), Lexington horse country (about 90 miles), Hocking Hills, Ohio (about 160 miles east), and the Great Smoky Mountains (around 300 miles). Pro tip: if you're planning a longer loop, filter for unlimited mileage upfront and you'll save the math later.

Where are the best campgrounds near Union, KY?

You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Union mix state-park charm with full-hookup convenience. Big Bone Lick State Historic Site (3380 Beaver Road) offers 62 sites with electric and water hookups and a resident bison herd. Oak Creek Campground in nearby Walton stays open year-round and is a favorite for full hookups. Northern Kentucky RV Park in Crittenden gives you easy I-75 access. Across the river, Indian Springs Campground in Cleves, Ohio is a short hop toward Cincinnati. For something different, Camp Cedar near Kings Island offers resort-style RV camping. Pro tip: Kentucky State Parks sites are reserved through the official Kentucky State Parks reservation system and book out months ahead for summer weekends.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Union, KY?

The sweet spot is late April through mid-October, with two genuine highlights: May and June (lush green hills, mild 70s to low-80s F) and late September through October when the Ohio Valley hardwoods turn red and gold and daytime temps settle into the comfortable 60s. July and August are warm and humid, often 85 to 92 F, great for river days but plan AC time. Winters in Boone County are chilly (20s to 40s F) with occasional snow, and Big Bone Lick's campground typically closes for the cold months. For an RV camping Union experience with fewer crowds and gorgeous color, target the first three weekends of October.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in Union, KY?

You'll do great, and you won't be left to figure it out alone. First time renting an RV in Union is a friendly place to start: roads are wide, I-71/75 is well signed, and most local campgrounds are pull-through. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, propane, tanks, slides, and hookups, plus their cell number for the whole trip. If big-rig nerves are real, choose a Class B campervan or a 24-foot Class C, or book delivery so the rig is parked and leveled before you arrive. Pro tip: practice a few right turns in the rental lot before heading out, that's the trick the pros use.

What if I break down or have a problem during my trip?

You're never on your own. Every RV rental in Union through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on KY-338, a dead battery at Big Bone Lick, or a tow off I-75 is one phone call away. Your host is also a direct line: most respond within minutes for quick questions about the awning, generator, or water pump. RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip too. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave the pickup spot. Then relax, you're covered.

Can I take my Union, KY RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, and it's one of the best parts of basing your trip in Boone County. Union sits less than 10 minutes from the Ohio border and about 30 minutes from Indiana, so an RV road trip from Union easily covers three states in a single afternoon. Most hosts welcome interstate travel throughout the continental US (think Smokies, Mammoth Cave, Hocking Hills, even Florida snowbird runs). Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection plan, so message the owner before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico isn't permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: confirm your route with the host upfront and you're golden.

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?

Realistic numbers help you plan. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes run 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A coaches sit around 6 to 10 MPG. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle, usually 10 to 14 MPG combined. Kentucky gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, and you'll find plenty of RV-friendly stations along I-71/75 (the Pilot in Walton at Exit 171 and Love's in Richwood at Exit 175 are local favorites with high-clearance pumps). For a 4-night family RV trip Union loop covering 400 miles in a Class C, budget roughly $180 to $260 in fuel. Pro tip: fuel up before returning, hosts appreciate it and it often saves a refueling fee.

How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Union, KY?

Earlier is better, but you've got options. Kentucky State Parks like Big Bone Lick are reserved through the official Kentucky State Parks reservation system and open reservations up to one year ahead, with the prime May to October weekends filling fast (especially Memorial Day, July 4th, and fall foliage weeks). Private parks like Oak Creek in Walton and Northern Kentucky RV Park in Crittenden are usually bookable 2 to 4 weeks out, even in summer. For a weekday stay or shoulder season, you can often grab a site 3 to 5 days ahead. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, search Sunday through Wednesday arrivals, you'll find availability and lower rates at nearly every campground in Boone County.

What are local driving conditions like around Union, KY?

Driving in Boone County is RV-friendly. Union sits in rolling Northern Kentucky countryside with two-lane country roads (KY-237, KY-338) and the wide-open I-71/75 corridor a few minutes east. Cincinnati's urban core has posted truck-restricted streets, so route around downtown if you're in a Class A. Summer thunderstorms can pop up fast on July afternoons, and winter brings occasional ice on shaded curves. The approach roads into Big Bone Lick State Historic Site are tight for rigs over 32 feet, so go slow on the final mile. Pro tip: use an RV-safe routing setting in Google Maps or the RV Life app to auto-avoid low bridges.
transportation.ky.gov/Driver-Safety/Pages/default.aspx

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Union, KY?

Expect solid, well-equipped facilities. Most campgrounds near Union offer 30 and 50-amp electric, water hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings, with full hookups (including sewer) at private parks like Oak Creek and Northern Kentucky RV Park. Big Bone Lick State Historic Site has electric and water at most sites plus a central dump station, hot showers, a swimming pool, a playground, and a trail system. Cell service can be spotty inside the park's valley, so download maps before you head in. Public dump stations are available at Big Bone Lick and at several I-75 truck stops. Pro tip: fill your fresh water tank at the campground spigot before parking on your site, it saves wrangling a long hose.

What's actually inside the RVs on RVezy in Union, KY?

More than you'd expect. RVs listed to rent an RV in Union come fully outfitted: real beds (queens and bunks), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an interior bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control, and seatbelts for every passenger. Most Class C and Class A rigs include a TV, and many hosts add a generator, outdoor speakers, or a backup camera. WiFi varies, some hosts include mobile hotspots, others don't, so message before booking if streaming matters. Sleeping capacity ranges from 2 in a campervan to 8+ in a bunkhouse travel trailer. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and check the included-items list on each listing so you only pack what you actually need.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Union%2C%20Kentucky

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts make it easy to customize. Common add-ons for a campervan rental Union or motorhome rental Union include linen and kitchen kits, generators, bike racks, camp chairs, propane fire pits, and tow setups, with pricing set by each host. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Boone County or a nearby meeting point, and many hosts offer Instant Book so you can confirm without back-and-forth. Mileage policies vary, some include 100 free miles per night with a per-mile rate beyond that, others sell unlimited-mileage packages. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a generator if you're heading to a no-hookup site at Big Bone Lick. It transforms a basic site into a full glamping experience.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

It's clean and predictable. When you book an RV rental in Union, you'll pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps everything documented and protected. The trip cost is charged through RVezy at booking, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip once the RV is returned in the agreed condition. The deposit amount varies by listing and is shown on the booking summary. To avoid issues, do a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff, fuel up before returning, and empty the tanks at a dump station if your host requests it. Simple, safe, done.

Where can I legally park an RV overnight in Union, KY outside a campground?

Stick to campgrounds and private property with permission, and you'll have a smooth trip. Boone County restricts overnight RV parking on county-owned lots and public streets, so a quick rest stop is fine, but plan to sleep at a real campground rather than a roadside lot. The good news: you've got real options within minutes. Big Bone Lick State Historic Site, Oak Creek Campground in Walton, and Northern Kentucky RV Park in Crittenden all welcome overnight RVers. Pro tip: if a friend in Union offers their driveway, ask them to confirm any HOA or neighborhood rules first, then enjoy a free, hassle-free overnight before heading to your next campground.
