Just want to say that Jessica and her husband were wonderful to work with. They made sure that my first RV camping experience was amazing. The camper was perfect. Air conditioning was wonderful on a very hot weekend. Also, the hot shower was perfect after a day on the river. Would throughly recommend this RV to anyone!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Covington, LA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Covington?
RV rental in Covington is affordable compared to most US markets. Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $130 per night, campervans run about $125 to $200, and Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275 nightly, with larger Class A rigs going higher. To find a cheap RV rental in Covington, aim for weekday pickups, book outside the Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras windows, and consider shoulder months like March or October when weather is pleasant and demand dips. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and use date-flexible search on RVezy to spot the best value listings near the North Shore.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Covington,%20LouisianaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Covington?
Good news: your everyday driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Covington. Louisiana does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any RV-specific endorsement for personal motorhomes or trailers under standard weight limits, so you can drive a Class B, Class C, or travel trailer setup with the license already in your wallet. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and ID verification is handled inside the platform during checkout, so there are no extra trips to a notary or DMV. First time renting an RV? Your host walks you through every system at pickup before you roll out.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included with my Covington RV rental?
Every RV rental in Covington booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can cross the Causeway with confidence. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the vehicle during your trip, giving you real peace of mind without buying separate insurance. During checkout you choose the protection tier that fits your comfort level (this is set by RVezy, not the host), and the coverage applies whether you're parked at Fontainebleau State Park or camping near Bogue Chitto State Park. Bring your sense of adventure, RVezy handles the safety net.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Covington RV trip?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (not the host), and it includes a grace period after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. Beyond that, the refund amount depends on how far out from your trip you cancel. Hurricanes and named storms are a real consideration on Louisiana's Gulf Coast during the June through November Atlantic hurricane season, so plan accordingly. You'll see the exact terms during checkout and in your RVezy account, and support is available before, during, and after your trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Covington RV rental?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Covington is easy to find. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings where dogs (and sometimes cats) are welcome, often with a small cleaning fee added by the host. Once you're on the road, Fontainebleau State Park allows leashed pets on most trails and at the beach area along Lake Pontchartrain, Bogue Falaya Wayside Park in downtown Covington is a favorite for a riverside walk, and the Tammany Trace rail-trail is paved and shaded for 31 miles. Message the host before booking if you have a large breed, most are dog lovers themselves.
lastateparks.com/parks-preserves/fontainebleau-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite or home in Covington?
Yes, RV delivery in Covington is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who'd rather skip driving a big rig. Many North Shore hosts will deliver and set up your motorhome rental in Covington right at Fontainebleau State Park, Land-O-Pines Family Campground, Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore, or even your driveway in Mandeville or Abita Springs. They level the rig, hook up power and water, and walk you through every switch and tank. Just filter by Delivery on the search page, then message the host with your campsite number. Hosts set their own delivery fees based on distance, and it's often the smartest money you'll spend.
lastateparks.com/parks-preserves/fontainebleau-state-parkHow far can I drive on a Covington RV rental, and what about mileage limits?
You've got plenty of range for a great Covington RV trip. Each host sets their own mileage policy, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per night and some posting RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for road trips. From Covington you can reach New Orleans in about 45 minutes (40 miles via the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway), Baton Rouge in 75 minutes (75 miles), Gulf Shores, Alabama in about 3 hours (155 miles), and Natchez, Mississippi in roughly 2.5 hours (140 miles). Check the mileage section on each listing before booking, and message the host if you're planning a longer loop, they're often happy to bundle extra miles.
dotd.la.gov/Where are the best campgrounds near Covington for an RV trip?
Covington sits in one of Louisiana's best RV camping hubs. Fontainebleau State Park (about 15 minutes south in Mandeville) offers full hookups under Spanish-moss draped oaks right on Lake Pontchartrain. Fairview-Riverside State Park in Madisonville sits along the Tchefuncte River with electric and water sites. Land-O-Pines Family Campground in Folsom (about 10 miles north) is the go-to for families, with a pool and 270 shady sites. Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore in Ponchatoula brings resort-style hookups, a lazy river, and a dog park. Abita Springs RV Resort offers full hookups year-round just minutes from downtown Abita. Book weekends 2 to 3 months ahead, especially March through May.
lastateparks.com/parks-preserves/fontainebleau-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Covington?
Covington's sweet spot is March through May and again from late September through early December, when daytime highs sit between 70 and 85°F, humidity drops, and the live oaks are at their prettiest. Summer (June to August) brings 90°F+ heat, near-daily afternoon thunderstorms, and peak Atlantic hurricane attention, so plan AC-heavy days and flexible routes. Winters are mild (highs in the 60s, lows in the 40s), making Covington a legitimate snowbird-friendly destination when northern campgrounds are buried in snow. Pro tip: book an RV rental Louisiana the weekend after Mardi Gras for great weather, low rates, and easy campground availability.
weather.gov/lix/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll be just fine, and Covington is actually a great place for first time renting an RV. Highway 190, I-12, and the rural roads through St. Tammany Parish are wide, flat, and well-maintained, with few hills and gentle curves, very different from mountain driving out west. Your host will give you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving tips, tank operation, leveling, and hookups, and you can text them anytime during your trip. If the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway (24 miles of bridge into New Orleans) feels intimidating, simply choose delivery and let the host handle transport while you enjoy the ride.
dotd.la.gov/What happens if the RV breaks down during my Covington trip?
You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 190, a dead battery at Fairview-Riverside State Park, or a tow off the Causeway is a single phone call away. Your host is also a direct lifeline by text, and most North Shore hosts can be on-scene quickly if something needs a hands-on fix. RVezy customer support backs you up before, during, and after your trip, so even worst-case scenarios stay manageable.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Covington RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?
Yes, multi-state trips are welcome on most listings, and Covington is perfectly placed for them. From here you can cruise into Mississippi (Gulfport is about 90 minutes east), Alabama, Florida's panhandle, Texas, or further afield, all covered by the standard renter protection plan within the US. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Travel to Canada may be allowed with host approval, so message your host before booking to confirm. Popular RV road trip ideas from Covington include the Gulf Coast beaches loop, the Natchez Trace Parkway, and the Florida Panhandle, all reachable within a day's drive.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel is straightforward. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes return 8 to 12 MPG, larger Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG combined). Louisiana enjoys some of the cheapest gas in the country, typically 20 to 40 cents per gallon below the national average, with reliable stations along I-12, US-190, and LA-21. For a 4-night loop through Fontainebleau, New Orleans, and Bay St. Louis (about 250 miles), most travelers spend $90 to $180 on fuel. Top off at Costco in Covington or Murphy USA in Mandeville for the best prices.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Covington?
Plan ahead and you'll land the prime spots. Louisiana State Parks (Fontainebleau and Fairview-Riverside) accept reservations up to 13 months in advance through the Reserve America system, and waterfront sites for spring weekends, Mardi Gras week, and Jazz Fest weekends fill 4 to 6 months out. Private parks like Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore and Land-O-Pines typically book 2 to 3 months ahead for peak weekends but often have midweek openings just days out. Pro tip: if a Saturday at Fontainebleau is full, grab a Sunday-through-Thursday slot, you'll have the lake nearly to yourself and rates drop noticeably.
lastateparks.com/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Covington?
Driving conditions around Covington are some of the easiest in the country for RVers. The terrain is flat (elevation maxes out near 50 feet), highways like I-12, US-190, and LA-21 are wide and well-paved, and you won't deal with mountain passes or steep grades. Two things to know: the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is the longest continuous bridge over water in the world at 24 miles, with a 65 MPH limit and crosswind advisories you should respect in a tall rig. Also, summer afternoon thunderstorms can drop heavy rain fast, so plan driving for mornings. Watch for occasional flooding on low-lying roads after tropical systems.
511la.org/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds around Covington?
Campgrounds around Covington are well-equipped. Fontainebleau State Park offers 30/50-amp electric, water hookups, dump stations, hot showers, and a swimming beach on Lake Pontchartrain. Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore brings full hookups (electric, water, sewer), concrete pads, pools, a lazy river, pickleball, and reliable Wi-Fi. Land-O-Pines includes full hookups, a pool, mini-golf, and a stocked fishing pond. For dumping and water fill-ups between stops, most state parks let day-use RVers use the dump station for a small fee, and the Pilot Travel Center in Hammond (20 minutes west) has a public RV dump. Bring a 25-foot drinking water hose and a 30-to-50-amp adapter just in case.
lastateparks.com/parks-preserves/fontainebleau-state-parkWhat's typically included inside an RVezy rental in Covington?
Most RV rentals in Covington come fully road-trip ready. Expect real beds (queen or king in the main suite plus convertible dinettes or bunks), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and basic cookware, and a bathroom with shower and toilet on Class B campervans and larger. Air conditioning is standard, which matters in Louisiana, and most rigs include a TV, propane heat, and roof or onboard generator for off-grid power. Many hosts throw in starter kits with linens, toilet paper, camp chairs, and outdoor mats. Every passenger needs a seatbelt while moving, so check the listing's sleep-versus-seatbelt count and message the host with any questions before booking.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options do hosts in Covington offer?
Hosts in Covington love making your trip easy. Common add-ons include delivery and setup, generator hours, bike racks, kayak or paddleboard mounts, propane refills, linen and kitchen kits, outdoor grills, and pet cleaning fees if you're bringing the dog. Pickup is usually at the host's home around Covington, Mandeville, Abita Springs, or Madisonville, with most offering flexible 1-to-4 PM pickup and 11 AM drop-off windows. Mileage policies vary (100 to 200 miles per night is typical, with unlimited mileage on some campervan rental Covington listings), and generator use is often bundled or charged per hour. Each add-on and fee is listed transparently on the booking page, so there are no surprises.
stpgov.org/How does payment and the security deposit work on an RVezy booking?
Payment is simple and fully handled through RVezy, never directly to the host. You'll pay the rental total at booking with a major credit or debit card, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized (not charged) on your card before pickup, typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV. After your trip, the hold is released as long as the rig comes back in the condition you received it. To avoid issues: document any existing damage with photos at pickup, follow the host's dump and fuel instructions, and return on time.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park overnight in an RV around Covington?
You have plenty of legal overnight options. The best bet is booking a campground like Fontainebleau State Park, Land-O-Pines Family Campground, or Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore, all within about 20 minutes of downtown Covington. Some Walmart and Cracker Barrel locations on the North Shore allow free overnight RV parking with manager permission, so call ahead to confirm. Street parking and Bogue Falaya Wayside Park do not allow overnight RV stays, and New Orleans heavily restricts RV parking, so plan to stay on the North Shore and day-trip into the city via the Causeway.
